Gloves are the protective clothing used to cover hands. These protective clothing were part of our history, since primitive times. Earlier, long sleeve clothing was used as mittens and gloves in many countries for protecting hands from weather elements, chemicals, and while working near a fire. However, today this clothing combines diverse aspects of safety and aesthetics. This post discusses history, and different types of gloves in use.

In the western culture, lady’s wear gloves for semi-formal and formal occasions. These gloves are available in three lengths: opera, elbow, and wrist. Most gloves are made from silk, satin, and stretched satin material. The gloves are also worn as a part of accessories with gowns during church events, weddings, and ballroom parties. In many cultures, young girls wear white satin gloves during the cotillion, prom, quinceanera, or other formal ceremonies at the church. Black gloves are worn during funerals, and yellow gloves are worn during the hunting.

I also wear a high-vis vest on site to make myself more noticeable to anyone working nearby. I also wear protective gloves, as I am cutting tiles the edges can be quite sharp and could cut my hands/fingers so in this case I use gloves to prevent this from happening. I wear steel toe cap boots which are the right size and comfortable to prevent hurting my feet/toes. As a tiler carrying heavy boxes of tiles around to different locations there is a chance I could drop them and without steel toe cap boots on they can possibly break your toes or in other cases your foot. I wear a hard hat adjusted to the right size, which is perfect for the job and not worn out to prevent hurting my head from falling from above.
