1 In this essay I will describe historical events and family experiences that has impacted my life in both a negative and positive way. Religion played a prominent role in our home. In essence it was instilled in our household to always place God first. Raised in a strict household with both parents, three sisters, and a brother, we had very little income. The one value that my family continues today is maintaining a close family environment. Especially during the holidays Christmas was celebrated in our home amongst friends, family, dinner, and church. Although, my parents weren’t able to afford any gifts as a child growing up we understood the true meaning of Christmas. My childhood has taught me to embrace and love family. It has taught me to be grateful for the smaller things in life. Since entering adulthood I must honestly admit I value the way in which I was raised and have a new appreciation for my parents’ disciplining, loving, and parenting. There effective parenting has molded me into the person …show more content…
Throughout life I have encountered and suffered some tremendous losses. The significance of faith, prayer, the support of family and God has helped me to overcome such affliction. I transitioned in careers from a Network Specialist to a Correctional Officer. In all sincerity this was one of the most dangerous and challenging jobs I held. From the time I can recall I wanted to be a school teacher. Basically, after ten years of working in corrections has allowed me to witness some of the most unimaginable behavior. This opened my eyes to a whole new world. I had a new outlook on life. thus changing my passion. My passion has been a result of all the misfortunes during my life has occurred in my life. changed to working with social services has been to work within the social work practice. There are so many unfortunate, diversified people living in poverty that require aide.
The love of family is not important but it’s everything. What would you do if you didn’t have family that was REAL with you? Family is the core of a successful traditional Christmas. Especially if you are like my family where every year we would make hot chocolate or egg nog and watch “Home Alone” or “How the Grinch stole Christmas”. We would sit in the middle of our L shaped couch because of the alignment from the TV and the fire place to get nice and toasty. Bringing families together during Christmas is just like bringing families together for thanksgiving both holidays with the same sentimental value and favoritism. The love of family can’t never be broken. You couldn’t want to be anywhere in the word but at home with your
Motherhood has taught me many life lessons. Before becoming a mother, I was a self centered child. I had no motivation to succeed. All I was worried about was where the next party was. At that time I had no want to try because I was so scared to fail. I was slowly progressing to go nowhere and do nothing with my life. That has all changed now. I no longer party or use drugs. I work full time, attend college full time and devote my all to my children. Without them I would probably be in a jail cell not where I am today.
I have always favored individuals that work within the helping professions, and the ability that those individuals can have on improving the quality of life for those whom they serve. I not only admire the diversity of individuals that I have theopportunity to work in an ever changing always growing field, but I also appreciate the versatility that a career in social work presents. I believe that positive social change becomes a reality with the adherence to mutual social work core values, and recognition of the importance of human relationships for a healthy
My grandmother, Rokeya Sultana, grew up in the urban parts of Bangladesh, with 2 sisters and 3 brothers. Her father, my great grandfather, was the chief officer of the district. She would go to school or to places by a motorcycle, car, or helicopter. She was living the life of her dreams. But then, my great grandfather had diabetes, and it was discovered one month before he died. It was a great shock for my great grandmother’s family because they had to move from the urban city to a rural neighborhood. My grandmother went to elementary, middle, and high school as a child. She also received a Bachelor’s degree in teaching. She was a good student and a very honest and respectful person. Once she reached the age of 20 to 21, she married Jonab Ali, my grandfather, and moved to Dhaka, the capital city of Bangladesh.
Although I am only sixteen years old and in the eleventh grade of high school, many things have influenced me and caused me to be the person that I am today. I hope that these things will continue to help me be a better person and influence me as my life continues. Some of the things that have influenced me have been church, my family, my friends, and school.

I was also taught that family is extremely important and the time spent with them should be cherished. This mindset is still a part of me today and part of the reason I am in college now. My parents grew up in an age where nice belongings were difficult to come by. The mindset that putting your best effort into everything you do helped them both get into college and obtain successful jobs afterward.
Family is a value that my father taught me. He told me that family is
Family history is very important to an individual. By knowing where you come from, you can have a better perspective of your life. Having a clear understanding of your family background allows you to better appreciate the things that you would normally take for granted. The house, the car, and the average clothing may look better when one sees the sacrifices their family has made. They will see that their family has worked very hard just so their family can experience the better things in life. A persons roots and origin is one of the most important things to explore. It alone can bring you closer to self-discovery.
As I have entered my professional career, social work continues to play a tremendous role for not only myself, but the
My family and family history starts like most people’s. Two people fell in love, they had kids, their kids had kids and so on and so forth. But where we come from and who we are, is a completely different story. From our European roots, to the mixing of our blood once my family migrated to America, my family is quite complex but one that I am proud of and love greatly.
My family experiences has shaped who I am today and has given me the base for my strengths and has also shaped what I would say are my weaknesses. Being raised in a low-income working class family we had many struggles to face as I was growing up. There were
Both of my grandparents raised my own parents when being young kids into having discipline, responsibilities and obligations. Back in the day, the years were different and it required a lot more education/principles. Education has been one of the most maybe top five of me, my character. Since what I remember by parents always taught me the right path, not wrong, they always tried to fix my mistakes so I wouldn 't repeat them or make myself look bad in front of other people. They wanted me to be an educated person with principles, but I never understood why
It taught me to encourage others and that positive reinforcement will always work better than punishment. It showed me that being a leader isn’t about being the person with all of the ideas or the most vocal person, but being the person that inspires others to be creative and help share their thoughts and to lead them in the right direction. Like many people, my personal experiences have shaped who I am. As a future educator, I want my students to respect me as a teacher, but understand that I will be there for every one of them, whenever they need me. I will not judge them; I will only encourage them to do their best.
During my life, I have learned many things that I’m either expected to do or know. My family and friends have impacted my life in multiple ways that have shaped me as a person over time. These values that my family has taught me has made me the person I am today and most likely the person I will be for the rest of my life.
