High School Scholarship Essay

In high school I had the privilege to experience many amazing opportunities to further me in the future! I really enjoyed working with others and discovering the world around me, personally high school has offered a lot of travel for me. This past summer I went to Washington D.C. for a high school leadership program offered by the Texas electric co-op, and it opened my eyes to the world like never before. It made me realize how much potential anyone can have and how we should all strive to achieve the best life we can possible imagine for ourselves.
High school offered many opportunities to use my leadership skills, every group needs a leader and I was lucky enough to receive that position in many situations. In other situations I turned down

offers, and allow others to work above me and experience watching someone else call the shots. One obstacle I had during my high school career was dealing with the slow pace of the school environment, personally I like to believe I am a hard worker and prefer to have my hands busy all the time, but high school functions on the “No Student Left Behind” program, hindering my work ethic. Even though, I say this as an obstacle, it taught me patience and how to be kind when others needed help.
After school was a completely different story, I would engage myself in activities that I enjoyed but also challenged me. I also like to help with the local churches and any other community activity taking place that week. Very often I am called upon to do public speaking, childcare, and supervision over projects; all of which I enjoy. Seeing how I impact the world around me is my personal motivation, it keeps me stirring in the late hours to make sure whatever I am working on is perfect.
At the core I am a Christian, I take pride in serving God, and I don’t believe in just sitting in a pew. I love being the hands and feet of God, I pray for wisdom when I am in a difficult situation and I pray to be humble in my endeavors. In Psalms 56:3 it says, “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.” By placing my trust in God in times of need I have prevailed as a student and a person, by placing my trust in him I have always finished better than what I thought was possible, and by putting my trust in him I know his plans for me are great and many.
