People try to avoid the feeling that fear gives them. This feeling can show up in different ways; such as worry, or even outright panic. One of the most common forms seems to be anxiety, which causes people to miss out on fun and memorable experiences because they do not want to go or get there and sit out. People avoid situations where they would make these memories because something about it distresses them. Things that did not scare someone before, can when introduced in a new way. For example, a freshman going into high may not have been scared by older students, but now are. Social interactions are scary because freshmen are plunged into an environment with new people. Going into high school, some people's biggest fear is not knowing anyone. Everyone is new to each other, and that creates awkwardness that lingers in every person's head. While they are in classes with complete strangers, some might have trouble fitting in. Personalities may not work well together which could make the situation ten times worse. Actually finding people that have common interests can be hard, but in the end it is all worth it. Because communicating with people in high school is daunting, it is no surprise that interacting with upperclassmen is even more so. Communicating with upperclassmen can cause freshmen to worry because they can academically feel like they are not on the same playing field, even if they are in the same classes. In classes with older students, underclassmen may need to talk and collaborate with them. Time management in any school is a skill that is required of any student who wants good grades and to participate in extracurriculars. In high school, students are held to higher standard than before. People new to high school do not know how much time it takes to complete homework. Freshmen that are not used to having a lot of work have to stay up late to complete it and they do not get enough sleep for their classes. If they had managed their time better, they could get enough sleep to actively participate in class. Staying up late makes students too tired to focus and participate in class as much as they should. When a student does not pay attention, the student cannot keep up with the rest of the class. The student not staying on task makes them need to study more, making it so that the freshmen needs even more schoolwork time at home. It becomes an endless circle of bad study habits that is hard to break. Just as managing time is tiring for students, academic anxiety can take up enormous amounts of energy. Life can tire anyone out, then adding the workload school, can burn a ton of energy. Students stress when they do not understand work or when faced with failing a class. Grades in classes, especially when they are not all that great, stresses out students. How well a student is doing in a regular class can be scary, but in a college credit class,
