Michael Lehman’s film “Heathers”, which was released in 1988, is a teen-drama film that stereotypes an “all-girl clique” in school. The title “Heathers” refers to a group or clique of four girls in Westburg High School wherein three of them are named Heather and meanwhile the fourth member is named Veronica. This film is coated with noir and mischief which is presented in a “bright colored” setting—- completely irrelevant to the theme of the film. “Heathers” also happens to be insanely funny and in fact, it may be the cruelest fun you can have.
Their names also signifies and represents power and popularity. Shannen Dohetry as Heather Duke, Liane Falk as Heather McNamara, and Kim Walker as Heather Chandler. Apparently, their idea of a having good time is to ruin the reputations of the students in the school, as well as to show dominance over everyone. This trio cruises the school’s cafeteria with their unenthusiastic servant, Veronica Sawyer, starring Winona Ryder. Heathers also stars Christian

Slater who plays the role of the rebellious and cynical Jason Dean, with him by Veronica’s side, the two become inseparable in being the masterminds of deaths. The film centralizes on peer pressure in an upper-middle-class high school. Then, a rash of suicides hits the school (eventually there's even a real suicide attempt). The movie starts with the opening song called "Que Será, Será," by Van Dyke Park, showing a thematic value — this song seems to fit these teenagers who live in a world built out of images and selfishness.
Teenagers in this film do not seem to care about themselves, therefore letting them act recklessly and violently. When Veronica questions her friends’ cruelty and mischief, one of the Heathers (Heather Duke) tells her to just suck it up, and that real life sucks. With this, Veronica has intentions of actually murdering Heather #1. When Jason discovers Veronica’s hate towards Heather #1 (Shannen Dohetry), as well as all her hatred towards her other friends, he sweet-talks her into killing Heather #1, therefore making it look like a suicide, eventually leading it to manslaughter. As the movie goes on, we are able to see how each of the Heathers “commit suicide” but actually, they are murdered by Veronica and Jason, the two lovers who are quite similar to Bonnie and
Clyde. "Heathers" is simply about the loss of innocence, a message without the care of parents, who are so oblivious, as well as the faculty. Veronica is the sole conscience of the movie. All she wanted was for her high school to be a “nice place”. Underneath all the jokes, the director and as well as the screenwriter is able to present and produce a message to the youth regarding the way we should treat each other. This does not only comply to the students in high school, but as well as everyone ins the world.
They both know that their daughter will break if they were to split up. To keep in mind absolutely no one knows anything about Melinda's attack, and if her parents were to find out she knows that they would split. On the first day of high school Melinda finds herself alone, along with another new girl named Heather. Heather is a new student hoping to find a popular group of friends. Heather and Melinda set out to find a good group of friends, but finally settle on a group of preppy and rich kids named the Marthas. The girls are not wanted by the group, and now they have really have nowhere to go. They only have each other. Sadly in the beginning half of the book Heather realizes that Melinda is too depressed for her, and not good enough for her. Sadly Heather dumps Melinda leaving her by herself. Consequently Melinda starts to quit school. She goes to the mall multiple times and starts to not care, once she is caught she starts to self harm herself. Melinda becomes severely depressed as shown on page 81... ¨ I just want to sleep. The whole point of not talking about it, silencing the memory, is to make it go away. It won't. I'll need brain surgery to cut it out of my head. ¨ This shows how Melinda just wants to be left alone. Being raped was one of the biggest incidents that affected her mental life plus her social life. On page 61 the text says ¨ I get out of my bed and take down the mirror. I put
Racism through the years has provided places around the world with a shameful past that even today, racial reconciliation is still only in its beginning phase. Legends such as Rosa Park, Martin Luther king, and Malcolm X sacrificed their own life daily to pave a brighter future for America. However there is only so much people can do to change the ways of the world, the rest is up to the moral ethics of everyday citizens. The novel, Elizabeth and Hazel: Two Women of Little Rock, makes me question society in the past and present. If today; years after racism was said to be over, two people can not move on from their horrid past, how is the rest of the world supposed to? Recent events have proven that racism still exists and will always exist

Raging, monstrous, twisted, and compelling are a few descriptions of James Ellroy’s novel, The Black Dahlia. The novel consists of two detectives, Bucky Bleichert and Lee Blanchard, who become encompassed with the murder of Elizabeth Short; violence and obsession become a focus within the story line, only to never have the case officially solved. Through specific expressions, readers of The Black Dahlia inherit the darkness of James Ellroy’s writing style.

The film, Mean Girls, is about a teenage girl named Cady Heron. She was educated in Africa by her scientist parents. When her family moves to the suburbs of Illinois, Cady finally gets to experience public school and gets an understanding on the cruel, tacit laws of popularity, that divide her fellow students into tightly knit cliques. She unwittingly finds herself in the good graces of an elite group of cool students called "The Plastics," but Cady soon realizes how her shallow group of new friends, Regina George, Gretchen Wieners, and Karen Smith, earned this nickname. I will discuss how Radical Feminist Theory, Queer Theory, and Anti-Racist Theory, are used to criticize the movie.
The bunch of law-breaking teenagers from 70’s in Brooklyn were presented as a fearsomely resilient and incredulous who brings their own dose of happiness fever every Saturday night.
“Life isn’t fair, it’s just fairer than death.” (Goldman 358) That was said by William Goldman at the end of his novel The Princess Bride. The Princess Bride is a book about a girl named Buttercup who learns throughout the book, about the difficulties of life. Buttercup learns about love, adventure, and truthfulness of life, and people. Buttercup lived in a farm in Florin opposite from the land of Guilder. Her family owned a boy she called “Farm boy.” Buttercup teased Farm boy and told him what to do. One day, the Count and Countess of Florin show up at Buttercups families farm, and asks for their cows milk, which was said to be the best milk around. The Countess takes an interest in Westly, the farm boy, and Buttercup realizes her love for him. When Buttercup admitted to her love for Westly, he told her he was moving to America to build a future for the both of them. Soon, Buttercup got a call that informed her of Westly’s death, she was petrified. Later in the book, the Prince of Florin decided he needed a princess because his father, the king, was very ill. Soon, he would become king, and there must be a queen. Prince Humperdinck went to Buttercups farm to gather her so she could become his wife. Buttercup did so and the marriage was soon to be. One day, when Buttercup had been living in the Princes castle, she decided to go for a ride on her horse. Buttercup was kidnapped by three men, Inigo, Vizzini, and Fezzik. They were planning on taking Buttercup to Guilder to kill her so there could be a war between Florin and Guilder. The group was followed by a “man in black” who turned out to be Westly Buttercups love. Westly defeated each man and planned on taking Buttercup to...
I am choosing the film Mean girls to better illustrate the topic ethics than the film The Good Girl. The movie Mean Girls is about four high school girls that are called the plastics. The two main “plastics” being Regina George. Regina Georges unfortunate happening in the story demonstrates the ethics throughout the movie. I am going to argue that the ethics portrayed in the film means girls is more obvious to the human eye than in the movie The Good girl with the Ethics being portrayed in the film mean girls involve discipline and consequences for ones actions and the way to a good life. Through every religion ethics is a key to the foundation of the religion morals, which is portrayed in an understanding fulfilling way in the movie, Mean
Heathers plays these acts off casually, and is emphasized by neither Heather nor Veronica being shocked or surprised by what happens. Heather, tellingly, is most disgusted with herself during the night’s proceedings. After performing oral sex on one of the men, we see Heather alone, in a bathroom, spitting water out at a reflection of herself in the mirror. The abuses of men have shaped Heather and her entire self-perception, and the cruel actions she performs as top dog in her high

Mean Girls (2004) is a movie that captures the challenging obstacles, excitements, and the letdowns that the adolescents face during high school. Although the movie is greatly exaggerated and does not hold to the true essence of reality, the film portrays the struggles an individual faces during adolescence. The protagonist of the film, Cady Heron, moves into the suburbs after being raised in Africa by her two scientist parents. As Cady is now enrolled into an American high school, she struggles to find her sense of self-identity as she encounters multiple groups of friends and she tries to fit-in by trying to find the status quo of the “American-high-school-way.” The film also emphasizes the development
Don’t, won’t, mustn’t, shouldn’t, never! All common words heard from mothers every day. In Jamaica Kincaid’s short story “Girl” so many “shoulds” and “shouldn’ts” are listed off that the reader feels as though they’re back being lectured by their own mother! Kincaid writes with such an overbearing tone that any reader would feel the pressures of being a girl. And that is exactly what she meant to do; Kincaid uses “Girl” to almost bully the reader into feeling the claustrophobic pressures a girl feels, but not only that she challenges the reader to imagine the strenuous rules and regulations girls must face when it comes to their sexuality.
