Healthy Work Environments
I completed the Optimal Healing Environment survey. I did use the place that my patient is staying at right now. This was a care, rehabilitation center and care center.
When completing my survey the answers of “NO” were: private patient rooms, Provide adequate space for families to stay overnight in a patient room, alcohol-based hand gel dispensers: in patient rooms, install optimal air filtration systems, install ceiling-mounted patient lifts to reduce staff injuries: in patient rooms and patient care areas. The answers of “YES” were: alcohol-based hand gel dispensers: in patient care areas, noise level standards: perform noise audit, develop noise reduction plan, implement noise reduction plan, optimize lighting
setting and as the patient returns to their home and community. The goal by all involved is to move the patient towards
This assignment will identify some of the impacts, interventions and outcomes in relation to patient’s quality of life measured against activities of living from Roper, Logan and Tierney.
Leadership, no doubt, is one the key aspects of creating a culture and climate that extracts the best performance from employees. It is a significant contributor to long term sustained employee engagement and satisfaction. It is a key building block to creating a high performing organization. When a trained and successful leader from one culture attempts to use these same skill sets and experience, which made them successful, on employees of different cultures or cultural backgrounds and fails; is he now a bad leader? If the leader does not take into account the diversity at hand and understand the differences in perception then he will not be able to successfully influence his employees. Leadership is defined as “a process of social influence, which maximizes the efforts of others, towards the achievement of a goal” (Kruse, 2013). Who is it that defines good leadership? Is it the leader’s supervisor or is it the manager training course instructor or is it the employees/peers/ supervisors collectively who determine good leadership? Leaders must understand that they must earn the respect of the group in order for them to allow him to influence them. Leaders who do not accept or understand that this is, among other traits, the perception of leadership that counts, will fail or at the very least not be able to extract the full potential of the group, or perhaps create a toxic work environment. As stated in the book Classical Readings in Organizational Behavior, “power will be defined as any force that results in behavior that would not have occurred if the force had not been present” (Ott, Parkes, & Simpson, 2008, p. 355). Leaders within an organization have certain powers that enable them to manage their organization effectivel...
Safety is focused on reducing the chance of harm to staff and patients. The 2016 National Patient Safety Goals for Hospitals includes criteria such as using two forms of identification when caring for a patient to ensure the right patient is being treated, proper hand washing techniques to prevent nosocomial infections and reporting critical information promptly (Joint Commission, 2015). It is important that nurses follow standards and protocols intending to patients to decrease adverse
My work focuses on health research methodology and health services research. I am particularly interested in patient-centered outcomes through the methods of synthesizing, evaluating, testing, and implementing the best available evidence about interventions in practice to deliver sustainable and effective healthcare. My goal is to help in reshaping healthcare to one that pursues the goals of the patients using the best available evidence and shared decision approaches guided by the expertise of clinicians and researchers while minimizing the footprint and burden of illness and treatment on patients, their caregivers, clinicians, and the healthcare system. To help achieving this goal, I have worked and developed expertise in rigorously evaluating
Employees should not assume that the cleaning crew has been meticulous in eradicating germs. Phones’ and other items on the desktop are rarely cleaned or disinfected. Encourage employees to use disinfecting wipes in their personal workstation. Make wipes and hand sanitizers readily available for each workstation, especially when shared by different shifts.
It is right of a patient to be safe at health care organization. Patient comes to the hospital for the treatment not to get another disease. Patient safety is the most important issue for health care organizations. Patient safety events cost of thousands of deaths and millions of dollars an-nually. Even though the awareness of patient safety is spreading worldwide but still we have to accomplish many things to achieve safe environment for patients in the hospitals. Proper admin-istrative changes are required to keep health care organization safe. We need organizational changes, effective leadership, strong health care policies and effective health care laws to make patients safer.
There is a strong need to harness wellbeing at workplace. It not only adds up to the individual competency but also is in the larger benefit of the organization. It is essential to tap the facets of employee’s wellbeing categorized as: the being and belongingness as the perception of future. This end goal of happier employees adds up to the common goal of intent and future vision of every organization. So, when people respond to the largest used greeting “How are you?, by saying I am well, Thank you”, they all should semantically mean it. Hence, it could be clearly opined that there are enough evidences on importance of goodness quotient and how one shall consider it as a prime factor of assessment at workplaces.

If the health of employees can help or hinder a company, then why do companies still have sick days? With the “on the go” lifestyles, how can we not question the health of employees and their families. Today we have high stress jobs, rush hour traffic, and demanding schedules. Being healthy and fit is the way to conquer tomorrow.
When working and during my clinical rotation in long term care I had patients with functional limitations due to chronic illness or patients that were there to stay and live there. It was limiting to certain clinical experiences. During this rotation I got hands on experience with patients with acute conditions, infections and accidents.
Increasingly, good mental health in the workplace is an issue being raised. Job stresses are being recognized as affecting work performance and also an individual’s over-all well-being. There is a lot of information available about how to promote good mental health in the workplace but perhaps insufficient initiatives actually being used. Providing employees with information promoting good mental health alerts them to the problems but may not achieve the solutions. Within the larger society good physical health is overwhelmingly accepted as the first step to good mental health. Can mental health issues in the workplace be addressed in the same way, by
Health and wellness in the work place is a vital part to a company’s success. Employees who are healthier and more productive are less likely to call out from sickness. Companies are now discovering that happier employees produce better business. Let’s face it, employees are the backbone of every successful company. Statistics show that healthier employees, not only have better productivity, but they also directly affect the company’s bottom line. According to the Institute for HealthCare Consumerism, 28 percent of employees state that they would feel more loyal towards employers who offered healthcare and lifestyle improvements. While the evidence is clear that healthy employees can make for a well-run business, what isn’t so clear is how to motivate employees into caring about their health. One way to do this is by implementing wearable health technology. Most people understand that health is important,
