People often interchange the term management and leadership style. Although both seems to have similar principle because it requires guiding or controlling a group of people to achieve goals, both have actually different outcomes of expectations. Management level is about getting things done whereas leadership style motivates and getting people to be committed in achieving the overall goals. In handling an organization, the style of leadership or management has no fix, right or wrong to use as it depends on the organization industry and sector. Organization can adopt one style or can lean over with two styles combining.

Also, having healthy citizens ensures social strength, financial security and political stability (Tammy Dray, 2013). Hence, it is essential to have a competent, forward-looking and proficient management to develop and nurture the organization.
Bureaucratic management style seems appropriate to pursue for healthcare industry and to those who engage in routine tasks because it is about ensuring that people follow procedures strictly. This style consists of various layers of management levels and positions thus decision making has to undergo several section heads for approval as information typically flows from top to down wards.
Similarly to healthcare sectors, decisions making needs to have authorization and it is crucial as not to jeopardize the safety of the society. However, both have the same desired target to work into. It has already been ruled out that the management plans whereas the leaders execute the plan. Hence, there is no one style to fit all or the organization and there is also no right or wrong in the choosing of the style because each management and leaders have their own ways in approaching to people and projects. Being effective is to understand your strengths and weakness and be comfortable with your own style. Healthcare organizations are generally strict with their leadership style because health matter can lead to deadly consequences therefore a firm and visionary leader is essential. It is not easy to be handling people management because trust and capability is the few factors to consider in a leader. Leadership is the ability to influence employees to voluntarily pursue organizational goals. Leadership is vision, enthusiasm, love, trust, passion and consistency. Management is to pursue organizational goals efficiently and effectively by integrating the work of people through planning, organizing, leading, and controlling organizations resources. Leadership and management are not the same. They are not interchangeable. Leadership is coping with change and management is coping with complexity (Williams 444).
According to Business Dictionary.com, leadership is defined as the individuals who are the leaders in an organization, regarded collectively. It also can be define as the activity of leading a group of people or an organization or the ability to do this. Leadership involves the establishing of a clear vision, sharing the vision with other so that they will follow willingly, providing the needed information, knowledge, and methods to realize the vision and coordinating and balancing the conflicts interests of all members and stakeholders.
Even though leadership can be an essential place for development, if certainly not of greater importance, is the desire to create your conditions, which service and boost new models of leadership. Presently many of us have learned that managers are primarily administrators who have learned to write business plans, utilize their resources and keep track of progress. We must learn that we are not limited by job title, and that means we can utilize our management skills in any position that we are in. We must also know that we can use our leadership skills in the same situations. On the other hand we have also learned that leaders are people who have an impact on those that surround them. The main difference that separates these two roles is that management is a function that must be utilized in any type of business, and leadership is the relationship that the leader has with his followers, which in turn can motivate and energize the organization.

According to Huber (2014), Leadership can best be defined as method utilized to ensure that an objective is completed. There are many different types of leaderships that can be found within each organization. In this paper I will highlight an example of a specific leadership style that we come across in healthcare settings. I will review my leadership self-assessment results and discuss the impact of leadership on staff and groups.

As Goleman (1998) states, “Most effective leaders are alike in once crucial way: they all have a high degree of what has come to be known as emotional intelligence” (p. 94). The style of referring to policies and procedures is a great way to lead because it takes the opinion out of decision-making. This allows for decisions to be made as justly as possible. However, bureaucratic has the limitations of not allowing for flexibility. That’s where the mix of participative leadership would come in. This allows for decisions to be made on a need by need basis. The members consult each other when the rules don’t quite apply. This allows for members to feel as though they are individuals and concerns are relevant. This mix gives the best balance for leadership. As a nurse, learning to adapt on various situations and applying appropriate leadership styles in different circumstances is a very essential skill to learn in health care practice. A strong personality should be shown so that the role can be maintained. With my experience, I have met different people with various personalities. Some will have challenging personalities which can be a hindrance in implementing the management plan however, showing the staffs the you have the courage, confidence, knowledge and skills to perform a task can greatly influence them to achieve a common goal. From my experience, I have learned that to be an effective and a good leader; you must also be a good follower and a good role model to the other team members. If the manager or leader is complying strictly with the rules and policies, there is a higher chance that the staffs will also follow the rules and policies based from my experience. Management is when you are in control of things or people, and basically, you are in charge and have people who work for you. Leadership is the leading of a group of people or organization. My management style was to be more of a manager than a leader because I had to be strict with some of my employees and be the boss. Also, they weren’t following me in the simulation, they were working for me. While running my business I was also showing leadership because I was leading my employees in the right direction to have a successful business.
