Taking the Introduction to Exercise Science and Health Promotion course this semester, I could only hope that it would steer me in the right direction for my career. I was a little lost with what I wanted to become once I finished this program. While I knew what I was passionate for, I didn’t know if that would be the best fit for me. I hoped to learn about what exactly this major was and the possible career choices out of it. I wanted to learn about the education and licensing required for these careers, and wanted to find out what the average work week entailed, as well as learning about growth projections and the salary ranges. I wanted to see which career would be best for me.
Coming into this class, I knew I wanted to work rehabilitating people from their injuries. As I have been an athlete since middle school, I have had my share of injuries. I have had sprained ankles, torn tendons, broken …show more content…

The multiple guest speakers who talked to us really had a positive effect on me. They were real, honest, helpful and very resourceful. These speakers brought in their personal experiences, talked about the hardships, talked about how they struggled. They shared their experiences with how they were very persistent, and knowledgeable, and how it paid off in the long run into a career they work hard at and love. These guest speakers gave us advice such as to get your foot in the door as soon as possible and to volunteer at every chance you get so you gain experience. The career data research also was beneficial because it really broke down about each career that we chose. We did research into these careers and learned about the certain certificates and licenses needed, what degree we need to seek, the minimum GPA required to get into those degree programs and the average salary made. We also researched the growth rate for the next 10 years and I was surprised to see how many of these are growing at a faster rate than
