This memo is to assess the “Health Matters Womens’ Health Fair” that toke place on April 4, 2017. In this memo, I am going to assess different areas including but not limited to the planning of the event, the logistic of the event, the food service and the content of the event. The main purpose is to identify the strength, weaknesses, and way to improve. • Planning – In the planning face on the working, I feel that is was a little challenging to create an event from a subject that was so said and not countable for the most student in the classroom. Since we are in the hospitality major talking about science and discrimination amount others sensitive subject arise from the book was difficult. Creating an event that goes with the book but was …show more content…
There was not a great coordination and the most students were not interested in doing the project. We as the class could have done better at creating this event. Having clear direction, having more student participation. • Marketing – The marketing portion was also part of the communication the lack of student real participation made the event half of what could have been. I know that we had competition since there was another big event going on the same day but we could have done the class visit and put more fliers and talk to other students. • Budget – The budget was good. Having a health fair do limited option since health food is more expensive. I did feel that we use the budget in a great matter and found healthy option to go with the event. • Logistics The detailed coordination of a complex operation involving many people, facilities, or supplies. • Flow of Room – The floorplan was designed to last minute and no properly presented to the group so everyone knows how the event needs to look and flow. This miss communication alone with some other last minute change cause event floor plan to be change and table to had to be move. At the end the last-minute change made the event work better that expected. I feel that the flow of the room was created and it give guest that advantage of deciding where to start and end.in felt very open. That event with low marketing done with got a good number of people
Self- care abilities of individuals and communities are important to promote mental and physical health and to reduce mortality and morbidity that occur from accidental injuries and chronic conditions (Dillion, 1997). Lifestyle changes have an effect on health prevention and delay of diseases and health problems. Dillion states if nurses use strategies from community nursing and objects from Healthy People 2000 they can identify threats to health promote and maintain health. Dillion states a key strategy is a health fair (Dillion,
Relate the book to three outside events or topics (i.e. – a personal experience, an article of the week (from whichever school year), an event or item you saw on the news, etc.).
The teaching project was to developed to educated adolescence about the rising obesity rates and the health issues that can arise. I needed to gather material about the subject matter that I knew they needed to be aware of. The information had to be formatted so that the teaching was understood to ensure that effective teaching took place. Then, I incorporated some learning interactive activities so that the information was retained and so that it kept their interest. One of the interactive activities was the most effective intervention that empowered the group to change their behavior. The activity involved guessing which foods belonged to the different food groups and guessing the calories they thought it contained in them. All the participants were very eager to answer the questions and when some of the questions they answered were wrong, they were interested in understanding why. I felt that effective learning was taking place.
The purpose of the scholarly paper part two is to demonstrate the completion of the evidence-based homeless health promotion project; it is specific to the population living in Miami, Florida. Part two of the project presents evidence-based interventions to address measurable and unfavorable health outcomes associated with risk factors that were identified in part one of the project. Also, health promotion project evaluation will be provided.
Often in practice, we as nurses deal with a variety of diseases and treatments and often have to react to the illness that the patient presents with upon our interaction. While this is an essential piece of our practice, we also have a duty to our patients to be proactive in preventing specific health-related consequences based on their risk factors and to promote their health and well being. Health promotion as it relates to nursing is about us empowering our patients to increase their control over their lives and well beings and includes: focusing on their health not just illness, empowering our patients, recognizing that health involves many dimensions and is also effected by factors outside of their control (Whitehead et al. 2008)..
In recent years, research has established that there is a growing prevalence of dementia among people aged 65 years and above. A study by Prince, Prina and Guerchet (2013), established that the global prevalence of dementia has been increasing at a rate of 7%, especially among the adults who were aged over 60 years old. Research has also shown that a great number of the minority communities especially those of immigrants are having a high incidence of Alzheimer's disease. Similarly, high incidence has also been seen in Caucasian people. In this same study, Native Americans showed to have lower rates of the Alzheimer disease compared to the whites (Anderson & Egge, 2014).

We were able to text and call one or two others the night before to discuss about the scenes we would be presenting in class. Johnathon talked to Juno and gave me some input. Johnathon also text Jasmine to asked if she were able to meet us the next morning to review and prepare one last time before class. Julius wasn’t aware the presentation was due but when it was time to present he was well prepared on his part. Jasmine couldn’t make it before class for the meeting because she had car trouble but just like Julius, she was also well prepared. I’m sad that Juno weren’t able to make to class in time to do the presentation with the rest of the group, but he was able to share some insight with Jonathon to contribute to the group. I believe Johnathon was a big help in this presentation. He took the initiative to connect the rest of the group when no one respond on the forum. We were able to text each other and accomplish a good presentation for the class. I’ve learn that not every classmate will put out as much effort as you would but you just have to try your best to get the best out of each out of your
Introduction The health promotion program for Casey community was implemented to reduce and prevent alcohol and drug abuse among teenagers, the main target group. There are several factors which contributed towards alcohol and drug abuse among teenagers. Those factors are ‘macro-environmental issues, socioeconomic gaps, joblessness, social capital, the physical environment and social morals and faith. However, it was noted that the family is an important group who mediates with all the effects ‘(Spooner, Hall and Lynskey 2001, 26).
After having carefully deliberated and conferred with the board, it was evident that the main concern for the club members was their self care, which in turn led to the discussion of the District Service Initiative being Be the Change: Personal Health. It was clear that the club struggled with putting their health and needs first, mostly because some members did not know how to. The idea of the Health Fair Expo sprouted from the need to educate members on how to focus on themselves and their health. The Health Fair Expo focused on different aspect of self care and health and taught members by having different booths, which would teach mini lessons and give tips on how to improve their health. Due to the Health Fair Expo having been geared towards the Orange Coast College Circle K members, it was a meaningful event that focused on something that members were lacking at the time, which was knowledge on the

I have learned several valuable things from this project experience. First, it’s okay to not know how to do something right away. Ask, observe and experiment. Doing so will greatly enhance my ability to do it correctly and continue to learn. Second, I learned that this can be an experience in frustration if I always try to not make waves. Sometimes waves need to be made to better the project. And third, watch for similar frustrations with my students and intervene before it gets too serious.
From business conferences to weddings, there are events going on all around us, and where there are events there are event planners constructing it, putting it all together, while making everything run effectively. Event planning is always unpredictable and you need to be always ready for any problematic situation that may occur. When starting out there is a great chance that problems will occur that one will not prepared to face, but this is all a part of the improvement process. These situations should be looked at as a learning experience and should give you some ideas of how to improve one’s event planning skills and one’s own business. Because of all the hospitality, craziness, and personal gratification, I have chosen to become an event planner.
Class participation was great everyone joined in on the discussion. People in the class felt comfortable talking out loud and putting there two sense in.
