There are set basic standards that health education or promotion should have that the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing advocate. NCHEC has the standards to uphold highest proficiency in public health education or promotion. Enlightening the public needs the best workforce in use to ensure that the basic standards of health information provision are met. Among the characteristics that a health educator should possess is to have the ability to carry out an assessment of needs, the resources required and to have the capacity to carry out health promotion or education. Secondly, the educator should have good planning of the health education or promotion situation to make the work well carried out. (NCHEC, 2016) Planning stage of an education program is the most aspect that determines all the other aspects that come after it. When the educators or promoters master well planning stage, implementation process goes well without much disruptions. A plan also enables the health educators to have focus and establish order of events. With a well-organized plan of an education program, it is easier for the educators to point out areas that need improvements, forecast the possible challenges they are likely to face and make preparations of avoiding the challenges in advance. Other characteristics of a health educator also include the ability to implement the process of educating or promoting health information among the public, ability to carry out an evaluation of the process, administration of the health education or promotion work and serving as the personnel in charge of the health education or promotion. Finally a health educator should communicate, promote and lobby for health, the profession and the health education or promotion process well. (NCHEC, 2016)
