There are many reasons to why growing up in the country can impact a person's life. One of the plus’ of living in the country are there are plenty acres of land to do many adventurous things on. Growing up in the country has given me some of the best, and some of the worst memories in my life. It has taught me lessons on how to deal with breaking my arm to getting rid of snakes the right way. Having four-wheelers in the country is a necessity, unless you really like walking, sometimes miles, to get somewhere. My brother and I grew up with a dad that loved to surprise us with ATVs, or something to get us out of the house, that would help us use our imagination. On our acreage now we have three four-wheelers and one razor. My four-wheeler, …show more content…
School bus and camping was some of the more popular games we would play with them. For school bus we would make up our own route and go pick up the kids on our “buses” (four-wheelers). We would pretend people didn’t get on, or even yell at the kids to stop talking or to get their feet out of the aisle. For camping we would pretend to haul a camper behind us and travel down all of these crazy roads. Sometimes when you’re riding four-wheeler’s it’s fun to just relax and go for a drive. While my brother and I were just riding our four-wheelers for fun one day, Nick came across an interesting trail that he wanted to show me. So he stopped me in the middle of the yard and told me about it. I told him it sounded cool and suggested that he should take me to it. Being the loving brother he is, he told me to follow him and he flew off on his four-wheeler. I took off after him, not wanting to lose sight of him, but there was one tiny problem as I began to take off: I left the four-wheeler in reverse. As I went on my quick journey backwards, all I could think about was how my dog was close by and how I didn’t want to hurt her. So I slammed on the breaks and the
Growing up in a developing country has really open up my mind about setting up for a better future. My home in El Salvador wasn't the most lavishness, but it's also not the worst. I grew up in a house with two levels; three bedrooms on the top floor, one on the bottom, a garage and laundry room at the lower level, and a small sale shop at the front of the house. Growing up in this home has been a meaningful place for me. Its where I found my sense of place.
many complications and crimes within. I was happy that I grew up here because I
When I was 7 years, I moved from my home in Australia to the other side of the planet to Dallas Texas. When I heard that I was moving, I felt a wave of despair wipe over me. As Taylor says “I have never in my own memory been outside of Kentucky” (Kingsolver 12). This was the same for me since I had never been
Before atv were out When farming they would only be able to use tractors which were very bad at saving gas causing farmers to pay more then they should but with the atvs`, they could almost do anything a tractor can do and they only guzzled about 8 percent of that fuel needed to feed a tractor. That alowed to them save a ton of money which is awesome for the farmer but that is also good for us because the farmer pays less to make his food, he is able to sell it for cheaper making it easier for us to buy it. Because of more people buying the farmer's product it gives him more money. Another things ATV have done is helping finding people. Back before atv helped, when they had searching crews they had people walk and some other rode a horse but now they can also use four wheelers which gives them a bigger chance of finding the person they're looking for. Atv also help explore new places, unlike horses or walking, four wheelers can go faster than both allowing you to discover more a lot faster. Because of all these recreational uses in 1980 ATV demands was at an all-time high because of it serving both recreational and utility
The environment in which you live shapes up your life, it determines who you become. Many people grow up in a great environment full of good influences, but that's not the case for everyone. There's several children that grow in an environment that has many negative influences especially for children. For instance, in the book Black Boy Richard Wright grew up in an environment full of violence, poverty, and racism. Those traits affected Richard Wright throughout his entire life. Richard Wright had trouble adapting to many things in life, and struggled a lot
“You are a product of your environment. So choose the environment that will best develop you toward your objective.” (Stone, 1962) The words stated prior by William Clement Stone have never proved to be more accurate. A person’s place of living, whether chosen, suggested, or forced, has a great affect on their future years to come. Depending on a person’s environment, they can succeed or fail; linger around or progress. The further proceedings do not serve the purpose to “knock” or bring shame or favor to one geographical area. Though every state has its pros and cons, one may highly favor one state over the other. In my case, I fancy Texas over Maryland. The topics that had a heavy impact on my decision were the similarities and/or differences in education, food, hospitality, medical care, and history.
An example of this is sports. In my house, the elders are very in tune with the sports cricket. Where there from almost everyone plays and learns the sport from a very young age. Since I grew up here in Canada, I have been able to develop a passion for sports that my parents were never familiar with growing up. From a young age, I was able to draw up a passion for the game of hockey. I would play, watch, and talk about hockey with my brother and friends and never learned anything about the sports my parents played. Another way growing up here helps me differ from my parents is the type of music I can listen to. Instead of listening to the same music my parents listen to I can listen to both English music and music from my parents country. Having the freedom of being able to choose certain things over others allows me to mold the way I view the world compared to my
As a living human being we are in a constant state of flux, life events constantly change us. From the smallest thing like a flat tire on the way to work on a raining Monday morning or a compliment a kind person gave you last year that still rings in your ear, all these events change you and shape you. Catherine Latterell points to assumptions about identity and how it is created in her book titled “Remix”, assumptions about identity and how it is created. The three assumptions being: identity is something we are born with, identity is shaped by culture and identity is shaped by personal choices. The assumption that environment has a role in who we are and who we become, as well as what we are born with or without – including our culture, all play a part in bringing together the mosaic of a whole person. Yet it is never fully complete, for it is always reshaping and growing. Mrigaa Sethi discusses these issues in
It was a beautiful, sunny day in South Florida. I was six years old, playing by the pool with my new puppy. I loved swimming in the pool almost every day after school. I also enjoyed going out on our boat after school or crossing the street and going to the beach. My father came home one evening with some interesting news. Now, I do not remember exactly how I felt about the news at that time, but it seemed like I did not mind that much. He had announced that we were going to move back to my birth country, Belgium. I had been living in Florida for five years and it was basically all I had known so I did not know what to expect. I had to live with my mom at first, and then my sister would join us after she graduated high school and my father finished settling things. I remember most of my earlier childhood by watching some old videos of me playing by the pool and dancing in the living room. It seemed like life could not get any better. However, I was excited and impatient to experience a new lifestyle. I realized that I could start a whole new life, make new friends and learn a new language. Belgium was not as sunny as South Florida but it has much better food and family oriented activities. Geographic mobility can have many positive effects on younger children, such as learning new languages, being more outgoing, and more family oriented; therefore, parents should not be afraid to move around and experience new cultures.
“Where you come from” influence almost all factors in your life. It can make you or break you. It makes you who you are today and what you will become in the future. If you came from humble beginnings you might make it a goal of yours to not put your family through that and have money, just as it could also make you value the little things in life.
I GREW UP HERE Growing up in a small town in Dill City, Oklahoma, can really teach a person the importance of life, patience, and learning how everyone can help a stranger in need. To hearing about all of the popular buildings and hearing all about the people can make a person wish they can go back and experience it. Growing up and seeing the same buildings and same people everyday can be some of the best memories you can have especiallly in a town such as Dill City. Hearing all of the stories from your parents and grandparents about how there used to be a store on the corner of the street, and hearing how a fire had burned it down can make someone feel like they had missed a very important moment in the town.
There was Teetotum, which was what was used instead of a dice. Kids played Morality games, which were used to improve children’s minds. And there were education games as well, that focused on subjects like literature, history, and science. I also found that children
When they got the truck full dad would slide back in and take over driving us to the barn to unload the hay and then we would go back to the field and start off where we had just left. Even though driving through the field was a lot of fun the stop on our way home was always even better; after a long hot day in the field we always got to stop for a soda and candy bar or sometimes even ice
The location of my birth, where I grew up, and where I currently reside has molded me into the person that I am today. I was born in Royal Oak, Michigan and lived in Madison Heights, Michigan until I was 4 years old. My family then moved to Warren, Michigan where I have resided for 16 years. In my childhood home, we spoke English. Likewise, in my current home, we speak
There were some trails nearby that we were able to take. These trails are both manmade and at the same time formed by nature. The trails were manmade in the sense that over time, the bikes have worn away the grass and plants to make just a dirt trail. These trails were mostly formed by nature though, the way the land tilts, where the trees are, rivers, valleys, hills anything out in a forest can and will determine where these trails go. As we ride through these trails, not only is it amazing to see how everything has formed, but you can also observe wildlife as you go through. At one point we are heading down a slight hill, and then two deer run across the trail not 25 feet ahead of us. This leads to us stopping for a couple minutes as we watch those deer run off into the unknown of the forest. When we finish up with the biking, it is nice to know that there are still some areas that are mostly untouched by man, and allowed to take the course that nature would have
