Having a good leadership for a team allows the whole team to work efficiently and in a well-organized way. Further, leadership is an important function of management which helps to maximize efficiency and to achieve organizational goals. Since I am a leader for this week, I asked several questions to my group members in order to get specific feedback for my performances. First, my team members said that I am deeply engaging with them and can be reached all the time. I replied all the emails and text messages as soon as I can so that I could figure out all the problems and time conflicts that our team faced to. Also, my group members respond to my leadership as effectively and efficiently. I set up several goals at the beginning of our group discussion, and then allocate different works to each member depended on its interest and ability. Besides that, I also set up the time limit for the group in order to have enough time for me to make the final check and corrections. Therefore, we have a good plan for the whole project and finish it perfectly. However, it is my responsibility to make sure the entire team complete the project on time; I might push my group …show more content…
Our team members have conflict schedule, especially the final exams were coming. Therefore, to manage a suitable time for each group member is not easy, so I decided to hold out meeting time at night and finished the whole discussion within an hour. The other challenges I faced was the collaboration of team project. Each group member had different ideas and various writing styles. Therefore, it was hard for me to compose everything together in one similar tone. Also, I had to delete some ideas from group members in order to make the paper well organized. During the leadership, the feeling of frustrated appeared sometimes, and it was not easy to stay energetic all the time. However, eventually, I conquered all the
The concept of a group proposal is to form a session plan that offers therapeutic services to a certain population. To compose a planning, the procedure for this development must follow a certain framework before it is accepted by both supervisor and potential members (Corey, Corey, & Corey, 2014). Therefore, a proposal must include the purpose of creating the group session, meeting times and place, recruitment planning, and group objectives and size. Subsequently, the type of group, multicultural and diversity awareness, the use of methods related to group goals, and assessment techniques must also be taken into consideration.
As a student, practice is crucial to learn group therapy techniques. In order to achieve these practices, I attended 2 support groups of the same topic. Observation and attendance constructs an idea of how group therapy works. Attending this group was important because of the profoundness of its meaning and experiences I have witnessed.
As a second language learner I have never expected myself to be a perfect writer throughout the semester. Even If English was my first language still, I would not be a perfect writer. It is not about first or second language, it is about how well I understand the learning objectives. Then organizing and writing with my own ideas and putting them in my paper. I am going to be honest, I am not good at English subject and English subject is my strongest weakness than the other subjects. In this paper I will discuss and analyze my own writing, reflecting on the ways that my writing has improved throughout the semester.
...rking together. Although conflicts slowed our work we managed to resolve them and move forward to our goal. I would really like to work together again but there are some aspects I would like to be changed which will improve to make our group even more successful. First, making plan of actions and creating deadlines, so everyone will be a little bit more responsible. Second, change cultural issue to being late to every meeting, as waiting to others can be disturbing and irritating. The last thing is suggestion to be more open and not being shy to display thoughts and opinions openly, which might make solutions proposed more creative. Every group member had her/his own place, duty and ready to display help if something was wrong or misunderstood. Supportive climate lead to initiation of friendship among members and that is in my opinion how group should look and act.
As I was working with my teams it was really important for me to adopt some strategies and use them accurately. I have actually done that. Hill, C (2007) said, “A group is an association of two or more individuals who have a shared sense of identity and who interact with each other in structured ways on the basis of a common set of expectations about each other’s behavior”(Hill, C, 2007, International Business, McGraw Hill/Irwin, New York, p-94). Thus my first strategy was we will discuss each of us points and everyone will take them accordingly. I thought that we have make things easier that’s why I arranged a lot of meetings. Moreover I was always connected via internet to...
The group couldn't seem to find time for us to meet and plan our presentation, the first and only time all group members were present to work on the presentation was on the morning of the presentation. We worked on it and at the time I believed we had agreed on our final product, I personally felt all the slides needed at this point was editing and final touches to make it visually appealing for the audience. I went online to the google presentation we were using as a group to prepare our presentation and was surprised to see a different layout, additional slides, and contents which were different from what we as a group had worked on and approved as the final work we were going to present. I confronted the group members as to the changes on the slides and we had a conflict of what our
Are you a team builder? This isn't always the case with most team leaders - they don't know how to build teams, because they themselves have not yet built themselves. Many team leaders are not in control of themselves, they are not motivated, inspiring or results-oriented. Team leaders may not be aware of the fact that to lead, inspire or to motivate others they must first lead inspire and
At First, we are working well on roles. For example, in our five people group that three boys are the “Maintenance roles” which defined as “a group’s social atmosphere” (98). To be more specific, they will contact group members before group meetings to make sure that everyone finish their own parts. They are more socialize and always contact. On the other hand, two girls were more like “task roles” and “they help accomplish a group’s task.” (98). We always check our group work deadline. We divided works for our group members when we have group work. We are the roles for keeping the group on track. Then be on time in group meeting is getting in the way. When we just met each other first time, we did not know each other very well. We seems unconcern so
In the third week, group reached Norming stage (Tuckman, 1965) and by considering everyone’s availability from classes and job commitments, every Wednesday’s were decided to meet for the team meetings. Besides, a group was created on ‘whatsapp’ (a smartphone application) known as ‘Healthcare assignment group’ for quick interactions and to update members about any changes to group meetings. It definitely proved an important application for completion of our team’s project. Then due to arguments regarding meetings and content of the presentation, the need for a group leader was felt who will make a final decision. Consequently, team member M nomi...
We may never really realize groupthink is happening in our own group. There are times when you are in a group and there is always that one person who believes they are the leader of the group. They start calling the shots and telling everyone what to do. But you don’t agree at all with them but don’t have the guts to say anything because you fear everyone will disapprove. That is the real world definition of groupthink!
This made the group effective and efficient because a clear vision was formed helping us advance. We decided each members deadline and with help from the team leader we were able to organise the work evenly allowing each member of the group to have a real contribution to the overall presentation. This was a crucial element, because it made sure the team members were considered equal and therefore allows tasks to be fulfilled. As a result, it set up some positive dynamics where the group became more productive than one individual. For example, tasks were set based on strengths and weaknesses allowing the group to find what feels comfortable for
As an assignment for sociology class, I had the opportunity to keep in mind to play the role as an observer -to understand the dynamics behind social interaction- when I attended my family-friend’s twelfth birthday party (Nina). To keep my observation under radar, I decided to tell everyone I encountered that my voice was silent due to my common cold, which I did have that day. The interactions and systems of behaviors are what make up group dynamics in a social setting, such as those I analyzed at a birthday party, all fell into place. The characterizations of the many sub groups within the party became notable on what set them apart by the following: religious beliefs, work groups, school groups, age groups, and etc. while the mother is
The way that my team responded towards my team leadership was very positive. After asking for specific feedback from each of my group members they constantly mentioned that I was very precise with instructions which gave them the ability to work in an autonomous way. Apart from that, when dealt with unfortunate situations, like one of our group members being late, or one of our group members not showing up constantly, they will say that I optimized to my very best ability to create the best solution.
Away to solve that would be to find a middle point where everyone is satisfied some what. As far as being a better leader would find a way everyone can have a big responsibility versus myself taking over completely. As a team member I deserve an 8 out of 10. I believe this because I was involved and open about everything . I listened to everyone’s opinions and was supportive. I think I could’ve improved on standing strong with my opinions and
In reflection on my learning experience in the group class, I have gained clarity on what sorts of competencies of facilitating group therapy, as well as in what areas social workers and students tend to feel most strong in my practice. Regarding my specific gains in competencies, I feel that I learned the most and was most likely to gain specific group facilitating competencies at the weekly class. Learning in group class is taught me the tools to use to work with groups therapy, communities and also with individuals through the process of changes. In this past three months I think a lot of opportunities have been created to shadowing with (beside and behind) and being a part of group members to learn. In addition, this class has taught me about the skills and how effectively help
