The Gospel of Mark is one of 4 Gospels written in the New Testament. Each Gospel is a personal rendition of a series of events that take place over a particular amount of time and each story is told by different people, take place at different times, and all have plenty of commonalities and differences. For this analytical Gospel review, I chose to review the Gospel of Mark. All of the Gospels were written in order to document the records of Jesus’ life. Mark is known as one of the synoptic Gospels as it has much in common with the Gospels of Matthew and Luke. Mark is considered to be the earliest of the four Gospels. Jesus and His disciples do quite a bit of traveling in the book of Mark. Mark mentions how Jesus comes from Galilee to be baptized by Mark in Jordan. Jesus spends some time in the forests of Sinai and does some traveling in and around Galilee where he calls upon His first disciples. He and his disciples go to Capernaum, Gerasenes where Jesus heals a demoniac. And the list continues to grow from there. There is a reason behind every line of the Bible, and Mark’s purpose is unique as it reminds us of the mighty and powerful acts of Jesus that take place by his miracles. I will discuss the miracles in depth below. Furthermore, the Gospel of Mark focuses on faith. Mark shows us Jesus’ faith in the Lord through his miracles of healing. “Mark confronts individuals with the power of God in Jesus Christ.” (MAOG, p. 233) After reading Mark, I think the point of this Gospel is apparent during the lesson from the weathered fig tree. “Have faith in God.
