A question that is asked by many Christians is whether or not God is currently working within their immediate life. Most if not all Christians are aware that God is a being that does have a presence within His creation, however some question if he actually is involved with their actual life. For me I would say that I do believe that God does have an immediate presence in my life, and has set a hand in my vocation. I plan to be a lawyer, U.S diplomat, or possibly a politician. I believe that God is actively involved with law and politics. Law and politics are the core policies that keep the country and most of society together as a whole. Overall, God has made a plan for me to enter into this vocation to not only maintain social order, but also to clear the corruption that has been escalating over the years.
God is a being that gives orders and has expectations. In our society, we have the same mind frame. We want our citizens to be civil, orderly, and overall dignified through their daily lives. Unfortunately not every citizen believes this is the case and they rebel. I was raised to live the most righteous lifestyle possible, so those who disobeyed the law confused me growing up. This is the main to why I believe that God is pushing me to be a lawyer. God has influence over how we are raised and how we see the world around us. Growing up in the post-9/11 age, our society has seen atrocities, scandals, and cover ups. I believe God has given me this passion for law so that I can change our society…. A verse that clearly states an objective from God about law is Romans 13:1-2 “Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God. 2 The...

...Today it is the Middle Eastern nations that now need the focus and God’s calling has been indwelt in me now to help His mission.
As a final point, God has and still is actively working in law, government, and diplomacy. The Bible is the ultimate word of God, and from it God has stated that he has placed those in authority to run society, and that those who can travel and evangelize the world should in his name. God has a specific plan for those who want to enter this vocation. For a lawyer or politician it is to keep society safe and have it follow the laws ordained by God. As a diplomat, it is to spread democracy, and try also to spread the Gospel to those you can reach. Overall, I believe that God has placed me in the perfect vocation for my interest and for His will as well. In this case it does not matter vocation I choose, I will live through God’s influence.
Much like the laws in the Old Testament, the law is God solving a problem before it occurs (Maxwell, 2010). As Reggie Joiner reminds us: “Relationship comes before rules” (Maxwell, 2010, 176). If a relationship forms, rules are easier to embrace. Rules are a tool to keep the ship and everyone on it going in the same direction. Shared systems of values strengthen partnerships minimizing the possibility of comprise. Values determine our actions. Our conscience can be a fickle thing if not tended to. A good study of 1 Timothy 1:5 will sharpen the cause for keeping the conscience in order and know that a good conscience is the product of a pure heart. Finally, we trust fully in God’s promises to comfort us, but need to share that same comfort through an empowerment to do so from God himself. Kept promises are the glue that holds all the guidelines together and shuttles them into the heart and soul of mankind by building
We each receive our own divine call from God. Sometimes this call alines with our own aspirations and goals, and other times it doesn’t. After the reading Gary Selby’s paper on Vocation I was left uncertain if my career goals and works were the same as God’s vocation for me. I have chosen to major in Sports Administration to pursue a career in the Lakers’ front office. This might also be God’s calling for me but, I’m at an uncertain moment in my life to know for certain if this is my ultimate calling.
On the other hand, as long as the hungry are being fed and the despised loved, God's hand is moving in the world. So I come full circle to find that we must faithfully remain amidst the brokenness and corruption, fix what we can, and be prepared to let God act as God will, as I, and each of us, pursue our own vocations and encourage others to do the same. As theologian Walter Brueggeman has written, “What God does first and best and most is to trust his people with their moment in history. He trusts them to do what must be done for the sake of the whole community.” So be it. Amen.
These words from Moses have inspired me throughout my rabbinate, and they continue to shape the way in which I strive to work. I cannot ascend to the heavens to bring back God’s word and teach it to you. Nevertheless, I can help us along the path, to remind us to light a candle rather than curse the darkness.
he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to
I am not truly sure of what to believe in terms of the existence of a lawmaker. Some would say that God is the ultimate lawmaker because They are ‘perfect.’ But that then brings up the question of whether God even exists to be able to create laws and if They do exist then where do they get these laws from. If God’s just creating laws out of Their whims then are those laws really worth anything since They could just change the laws of morality, saying, for example, that it was now morally good to murder and steal and morally evil to be kind and fair. But to further this explanation, let 's say God does not exist. Does that make us human beings the lawmaker? Could we
God is a word sent forth without the support of God’s will; hence, revealing the individuals position; a place outside of God’s government. This is important to understand because it is by the Word of God being spoken and properly exercised in your life that will prepare you for the great things the Lord has in store for you. Not one ounce, portion, or part of the Word of God can be omitted if the individual is to walk in harmony with the Lord.
God is always watching. This is what the first couple of scenes in Woody Allen’s movie Crimes and Misdemeanors would seem to imply but as the movie continues its message about god and a just universe flips back and forth as events go unpunished or the good go unrewarded. God and who god is are the main themes of this movie and as the movie progresses each character shapes his beliefs of god on what happens as they live their life. A main character, Judah, an ophthalmologist
Deuteronomy 17: 18-20 (NIV Student Bible) reminded me that no one should be above the law and we are all under His view. Much in the same way a leader should lead by actions and adhere to the same rules as all on others in the organization. Hebrews 4:11 (NIV Student Bible) reiterated that all should follow the rules, of the Lord (and also organizations). Proverbs 24:30 (NIV Student Bible) instills that we must all keeping working, be diligent in our quest for our own successes. In the grand scheme of things, we all work for the Lord serving Him in some way or another during our daily lives at home and in the office. We must learn from the mistakes he wants us to make, work hard for our goals, and treat others the way we would like to be treated
...hat share my faith and together worship Jesus. I believe that by being in fellowship with other believers I will have a strong opportunity to pursue and fulfill God’s purpose in my life, whether it is a daily or lifetime calling.
“First, there is the call to be a Christian. Second, for each individual there is a specific call—a defining purpose or mission, a reason for being. Every individual is called of God to respond through service in the world. Third, there is the call that we face each day in response to the multiple demands on our lives—our immediate duties and responsibilities” (Smith, ...
I used to believe and, to a less extreme extent, still believe that God does not have for everyone a specific occupation to pursue. Only those who undoubtedly heard the call of the Lord had that precise of a plan. In middle school and my first two years of high school I wanted to be a doctor. Everyone around me was exceedingly academically gifted and many of them had dreams of going to medical school and one day making six of seven figures. I pretended this was my goal as well. It was not until my junior year, I decided that a good path for me to follow was that of teaching. I kept having amazing history teachers that really sparked my fire to learn in that area. As I put the pieces of my life together (my skills, my talents, my passions, my personality) I realized the shape they made looked a lot like a history teacher. So if the Lord does call every individual to one certain career, which I am still not sure I believe, He did it in an indirect, yet completely successful, method with
God is our loving Father who is looking over us. He is caring and created this world for a reason. We would not be here today if it weren’t for God. God is good and gives us what we deserve. It is important that we live a good life and God will treat us with care. “And He’s good all the time—not just once in a while or when things go your way” (Meyer, n.d.). This demonstrates that God will always be good at all times. God created us and gave us the freedom to make our own choices. Even to choose if we follow or reject his leadings. He trusts that we will do the right thing.
God and the Bible’s teachings are used as a framework to find meaning in life and purpose of human presence. Purpose resides in every human’s potential to strive for peace, seek equality, nurture relationships and the environment to achieve harmony with the earth (Valk, 2012). “Guide me in your truth and teach me, for you are God my savior and my hope is in you all day long” (Ps 25:5). The Holy Spirit, known as God’s active force and His power in action (Lk 1:35), is used as a guide by Christians to ascertain and determine what is right. “We choose to act based on good thinking, scripture and prayer, and the Holy Spirit helps us discern the right alternatives” (Shelly & Miller, 2006, p. 89). In seeing others as the image of God, choosing what is right from wrong is influenced by beliefs cultural background and respect for one another. In this religious culture, the tendency to do wrong is seen as sinfulness. However, it is the admission of sin that leads Christians to Jesus Christ to find and experience God’s forgiveness (Shelly & Miller, 2006). The recognition of sin and eventual redemption strengthens the relationship with God which directs a life of service to humanity (Shelly & Miller,
Do you like to talk out your problems with a friend? Do you like to hear other people’s problems? Why do we always need to share our problems with someone? The truth is, humans are weak. We’ve always known that we can’t live by ourselves. So, it’s not a question that we need to share our burdens with someone else. We want someone to feel what we’re going through. And we’re hoping that that friend of ours has a way out of it, right? Whatever it takes, we want our problems to be solved. Unfortunately, it’s not every time can we find someone who wants to hear our problems L. Well, that’s the way humans are. We’re not perfect. But our Father in heaven is. He will faithfully listen to everything we’ve got on our minds. He is the only one who has the way, the truth, and the life. Of course, He knows how to solve our problems and He will help us with them. Now, doesn’t that sound good? Well, don’t you want to learn to hear God’s voice? The question is…how does He talk to us? Here are a few ways:
