Paul declares in 1st Corinthians that to each of God’s children a spiritual gift has been given. Over the years of my walk with the Lord I have concluded that I possess the noticeable gift of speaking in tongues and perhaps the gift of discerning spirits. As we have been learning about our proclivities towards certain strengths, I have been thinking about different ways mine are useful in and for the Church. Analytical is in my top 5 and it greatly assists my ability to learn and discern during the teaching of the Word. As Gallup puts it on their website, I have a “prove it” mentality. Therefore, habitually, I scrutinize everything the speaker says and cross-reference it against my bank of theological knowledge. However, I realize that I …show more content…
According to Isabel Briggs Myers’ personality test some of my strengths and weaknesses are honesty, responsibility, and practicality and stubbornness, tendency towards judgment, and insensitivity, respectively . I can use the first three to run my classroom like a well-oiled machine. I will be organized and respectful and treat my students like adults, preparing them for life as well and increasing their knowledge. However, due to the weaknesses associated with my personality, I must not fall into the trap of favoring some students over others, or being insensitive to their personal situations. I believe that God did not necessarily create me with my personality intentionally, but He certainly does work through it and despite …show more content…
I used to believe and, to a less extreme extent, still believe that God does not have for everyone a specific occupation to pursue. Only those who undoubtedly heard the call of the Lord had that precise of a plan. In middle school and my first two years of high school I wanted to be a doctor. Everyone around me was exceedingly academically gifted and many of them had dreams of going to medical school and one day making six of seven figures. I pretended this was my goal as well. It was not until my junior year, I decided that a good path for me to follow was that of teaching. I kept having amazing history teachers that really sparked my fire to learn in that area. As I put the pieces of my life together (my skills, my talents, my passions, my personality) I realized the shape they made looked a lot like a history teacher. So if the Lord does call every individual to one certain career, which I am still not sure I believe, He did it in an indirect, yet completely successful, method with
Finding your calling in life can be one of the hardest things to do, for some it is obvious from a young age on what you want to do. For example, my mom has gone on a spree of jobs in her life and she has only recently found something that she actually wants to do. My dad on the other hand knew from a young age what he wanted to do, he liked to tinker and straight after he got out of highschool he knew that he wanted to be a mechanic, and he has stuck with that career path for more than 30 years now. I am currently undecided on what I want to do for the rest of my life, however one of the careers that I am looking at is a law enforcement officer.
Throughout my life, I had continually believed that once I graduated college, I would engage in an action filled career. I wanted to be a police officer, a firefighter or even an undercover FBI agent. I had planned on studying criminal justice, and I took numerous high school classes based on it. Nevertheless, my plan transformed the summer between my junior and senior years. It was my grandma that influenced me to transform my criminal justice plan into a nursing plan. For most of my life, I may not have acknowledged exactly what I wanted to do when I grew up, but I did know that I sought to help people.
Now arriving upon a confident answer to what you are best suited for is challenging for many people. Which is why I believe the government should aid in helping people to find their true meaning in life. Back in middle school, I read a book called The Giver, and while most of the book I disagreed with, one part of the dystopian world in the society in the book stuck with me. In The Giver, children are observed by the government in terms of their characteristics, by aptitudes, and multiple other areas. What they government then does, is that when the children become a certain age, they place the child with a career that is best suited for them, based on everything observed. Now while this may seem extreme, I honestly would love it is someone
My five strengths according to the strength finder include; balance, this helps me be aware of treating all people equally regardless of the situation. I am neither in anyone 's favor or against anyone as this to me is selfishness and individualism. This would result in a situation where some people scale heights due to connections while others are lagging behind. I believe that a consistent environment where the rules apply to everyone is the best for individuals to function best (Rath, 2007). Flexibility is my next strength. By knowing that things do not always work out as planned has helped me change the tactics of how I perform my tasks. I do not always expect to have a smooth flow of opportunities or accomplish goals, but
The Bible condemns laziness (Proverbs 19:15) and every man or woman should be a provider of their household through hard work (Proverbs 14:23). Personally, I cannot find anything in the Scripture that will guide me towards a certain career path. However, in all jobs Christians must work wholeheartedly by exceling in performance not for the employer but for Christ (Colossians 3:23). References A Sure Foundation. SMI Healthcare Bible Study (The Importance of Worldview, 2011, p.11).
Everybody has weaknesses, and no one can deny that. Some people are jealous, some have bad habits they need to break, and some are over-nice (but in the bad way). Mine happens to be the third one in that list. In multiple situations, I have been too nice to the point where it hurts me and makes me miserable. Where this weakness is the worst is definitely in relationships: both romantic and friendships. My personal weakness of being too nice isolates me from being happy for myself in the same way as Hester’s sin isolated her from the Puritan community in The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne.
In this paper, I am to write about my strengths and weaknesses in writing. This is not an easy task for me because I have never considered myself a writer. Reading other peoples thoughts are activities that are more my speed. I simply have trouble putting my thoughts into writing. Since, I do not feel that I have many strengths, let's move on to my weaknesses.
Nevertheless, I believe my career can coincide with my personal goals and values and help me become more like the person the Lord would have me to be. Merida (2015) explains the need to “submit to God’s will and God’s word” (p. 9). More important than the educational knowledge I gain is the spiritual knowledge I will acquire from the Lord. Psalms 25:9 says “The meek will he guide in judgment: and the meek will he teach his way” (King James Bible, 1769/2017). Regardless of my own goals and aspirations, I must prioritize the Lord’s ways and trust in Him.
I gave this paper a lot of thought before I began to write. ?What qualities and traits do I posses that make me desirable as an employee, a teammate, and as a person?? First, you must be able to identify your own personal strengths and weaknesses in order to become a lifelong learner and an essential part of a ?team?. As technology is constantly growing you have to be willing to accept what makes you an asset or a liability in any given situation you may encounter in your life. The qualities and traits that I feel make me a valuable entity to my employers, co-workers, classmates and within my personal relationships are varied. I will go on to describe some of the attributes I think are most important in establishing and maintaining successful relationships whether personal or work related.
When I was young, I never really knew what I wanted to become when I got older, but I always had very high aspirations for myself. I always thought that I would become either a doctor or a lawyer. Both professions seemed highly respected, and the high income from each was a very important factor. As I grew older, I started to drift away from dreams of becoming a lawyer, and focused toward the medical field. The more I considered this choice of a profession, I began to realize that it was what I wanted to do with my life. However, like most people, my dreams changed over the course of time. My experiences and mistakes changed my perception on life in general, as well as my dreams and goals. I went through periods of time where I wanted to become a pilot, an architect, and finally, a computer technician. As I did research on each of the previous fields, I became highly confused and was very uncertain on which path I should choose.
Over the course of an individual’s life there are many traits acquired which are things that contribute to the way he or she interacts with others, overall these traits help with the development of one’s personality. Character traits or qualities make up a person, whether it's their personality or attitude or the way they portray themselves to others. Every person individually possess traits and qualities that not only describe, but define them making every person different. Many of the admirable traits that I possess make me the man that I am today, contributing to my interactions with others and the career path I intend to pursue. Throughout my life, many events have revealed my true character traits which include determination, optimism, and faith.
For example, one area is that I am more comfortable working alone. I find this to be a weakness because at times I am not motivated to finish a task. I also have found that it could be a more positive outcome if I worked with others. I noticed that I tend to use my emotions when making decisions I also have learned that I have some characteristics of being an extrovert. . When making decisions using emotions could have a negative effect an important issue within my job. Sometimes it might be beneficial to not be so emotional when making decisions. Learning these personality traits will make me a better employee at my job.
My favorite theory of personality is Carl Rogers’ person-centered theory. “Rogers believed that within each of us is an active, controlling drive toward fulfillment of our potentials that enables us to maintain and enhance ourselves.” I feel this relates to my Christian faith because I am constantly “maintaining and enhancing toward fulfillment.” I strive daily to be a good Christian and a good student. I have mentioned in other assignments that I am a work in progress and I believe we all are. The priest at my hometown church, Fr. Renato Cruz, always adds after he gives us a goal to accomplish that “the rewards are out of this world.”
Growing up, I never really knew what I wanted to be. My dreams would change from time to time. One moment I wanted to be a singer and then an actress and then a waitress and the next I wanted to be a personal assistant. I remember for a while that was my dream to be a personal assistant. That desire stemmed from helping out at church and being a Teacher’s Assistant in school. I remember junior year of high school, when it came to the point to think about what career I wanted to pursue. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do. I thought I wanted to be a teacher or a nurse but realized that none of those things really interested me. I knew I wanted to do something with the medical field. And I thought to myself do I want to do something easy? Or do I want to do something that I actually enjoy? I considered becoming a phlebotomy technician or a registered nurse. But it wasn’t until my senior year of high school that I actually knew what I wanted to do.
I believe that life is a learning experience and being able to recognize our own strengths and weaknesses can help us become better individuals in anything we choose to do, whether it is positive abilities and skills that can help achieve our goals or negative personal areas that need improvement. Knowing yourself and what you can do, can help you recognize and overcome your weaknesses.
