Introduction
Jordan is located in the center of the Middle East and it shares borders with Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, and Israel. It is also next to the Dead Sea and the Jordan River. Jordan has a terrain of about 35,475 square miles (Advameg, Inc., 2014). Jordan is unique because it has sand mountains and colorful rocks, plus it has barren deserts and fertile valleys. The main language of Jordan is Arabic but English is also taught and spoken. The capital of Jordan is Amman (Advameg, Inc., 2014).
Their flag has 4 colors: black, white, red, and green. The flag contains of horizontal stripes black, white, and green in that order and it has a red triangle on the left side of the hoist. In the triangle is a seven-pointed star. The flag of Palestine is much similar to the flag of Jordan but the only difference is that flag of Palestine doesn’t have a star (Advameg, Inc., 2014).
One of the most exciting places to go visit while in Jordan is the Petra. The Petra is the best tourist attraction in Jordan and it is valued there enormously. The Petra is giant red mountains carved into sheer rock and turned into a beautiful city. It is said that people settled there about 2,000 years ago (Jordan Tourism Board, 2013). To enter into the Petra you first have to go through a gorge that is about one kilometer. Next to that on each side are 80m high cliffs soaring right beneath you. It was carved in the early 1st century and they call it “a rose-red city half as old as time” (Jordan Tourism Board, 2013). As you continue moving forward (Jordan Tourism Board, 2013) and walking around to explore the Petra you will come to see all its natural beauty and beautiful architecture.
