The world one lives in it happens to grasp that all humans are designed as equals. This is far-off from reality based on how this society is operating. The principle of equality does not imply that everyone is the same, nevertheless that everyone should be treated as equals unless special circumstances apply. When it comes to the two sexes, everything that comes in its bounds is either biased intentionally or unintentionally, either way it continues. A gender role is a set of societal norms dictating what is acceptable or appropriate for a person’s sex. One could be aware of the characteristics and factors of identity that enables others to treat another differently by analyzing the aspects of society through race, religion, language, sexual orientation, economic status and also the level of education. The theory of equality is somewhat understandable, but what about the female population? Where is their equality in this society?

This hidden curriculum of lessons endured in the everyday functioning of the classroom where teachers are unaware of their own biased teaching behaviors for the sake their diligent duties as teachers. These teachers are applying their teaching based on how they obtained it. In the younger age, the learning environment is feminine since the adult females outnumber the male teachers. Teachers present curricular materials that contain gender stereotype behavior which the students internalize and exhibit these behaviors which in turn guide their own behaviors and preferences. Feminist Theory is an aspect of considering feminism as having been based on socio-phenomenon issues rather than biological or scientific. It appreciates gender inequality, analyzes the societal roles played by feminists in a bid to promote the interests, issues and rights of women in the society. It is also based on the assumption that women play subsidiary roles in the society. The whole idea of feminism has however experienced hurdles in the form of stereotyping by the wider society. This paper tries to examine some of the effects of stereotypes that feminism goes through, what other philosophers say and the way forward towards ending stereotyping.
Understanding Gender : Understanding gender is complex because meanings vary across societies and various factors contribute to gender differences like culture, social classes, ethnicity and religion which play an important role in defining gender. The patterns that occur are not only different between societies but also across generations within same societies hence the question that’s arises in my mind is Why are the patterns of differences in behaviour so complex? And does it play an important role in access to education? The answers to these questions lie in the deeper understanding gender in a wider context and its impact on education.
The definition of gender roles are the suitable behavior of men and women that are seen by society. Furthermore, these traditional roles is what shaped our thoughts on how we see men and women. Men are raised to be strong and refrain from showing too many emotions while women were more emotional than men and more opened about their feelings. “This comes, I think, from the insecurity triggered by how boys are brought up, how they think their sense of self-worth is diminished if they are not “naturally” in charge as men”(Adichie #461). This has to do when a men don’t think about how gender issues are real and believe that. Furthermore, gender being an uneasy topic people always try to change up the conversations. Women are faced with inequalities socially, politically and economically it’s just how it's been. What is worse is that society chooses to ignore it all together or even lessen the problem from what it really is. “Because gender can be uncomfortable, there are easy ways to close this conversation. Some people will bring up evolutionary biology and apes, how females apes bow down to male apes- that sort of thing. But the point is this: that we are not apes”(Adichie #462). Gender inequality is almost always prominent towards a female rather than towards a male. Women are seen as inferior to men in every country in the world. This form of society is called patriarchal and is one of this biggest issues in American society today. Patriarchy means that the country has a primarily male dominated society. Does anyone realize what gender inequality is doing to our country as a whole? Not everyone may think it has a great impact on our society, but gender inequality creates many of our problems today including wealth, income, and status discriminations. I chose to write about this topic because I believe that this is one of the biggest problems that all societies face, not just the United States. Fixing the gender inequality issues in our country could have a bigger impact than what many people may think. Changing something that most consider to be so minuscule could play a very important part of a much bigger picture in our country. The Theories of Sex and Gender Sex and gender are two very separate factors in the debate of how gender acquisition occurs in the. Sex is a biological fact determined by the chromosomes inherited from their parents. Gender, however, refers to the behaviour, beliefs, attitude and sense of identity that society perceived as being appropriate for either a male or a female, and. therefore gender is regarded as a social fact. Embedded deep within the psyche of modern society, gender is a persistent feature of everyday life. It creates normalized behaviors and characteristics for each person, holding them accountable for even the most trivial actions. Individuals are not supposed to step outside the binary male-female framework, otherwise they risk backlash as an attempt to force them back into culturally designated roles. This binary is disturbed by the very existence of intersex individuals – as they cannot be placed into 100% male or 100% female on a binary scale. One of the areas where intersex has caused complications is in organized sports, specifically the Olympics. Since the International Olympic Committee (IOC) requires athletes to be divided into men and women in the various events, the interjection of intersex individuals causes complications with the preexisting system. The result of this being not to adjust the binary system itself, but for the IOC to engage in gender examinations of athletes to fit them into either the male or female categories. In order to understand the implications of the IOC's recommendations as well as why such views are ingrained in society as a whole, it is necessary to make an analysis using gender structure theory via its three levels: individual, interactional, and institutional.
Gender equality, equality between men and women, entails the concept that all human beings, both men and women, are free to develop their personal abilities and make choices without the limitations set by stereotypes, rigid gender roles and prejudices. Gender equality means that the different behavior, aspirations and needs of women and men are considered, valued and favored equally.
