Gender Inequality in the Workplace Women in professional occupations earn 72.7% of what men in the same position earn. Many women face wage gaps, harassment, fewer job opportunities and fewer promotions.Mothers are often told to choose between their career life and family life. Sexual discrimination has been at a standstill since the 1990s and has yet to improve. For every dollar a man makes a woman makes 77 cents in a similar job. 58% of women feel they have been mistreated at work, while 88% of women feel like they have missed out on job opportunities because of their gender. Gender Inequality in the workplace is a problem.

Gender Inequality can cause a lack of motivation or drive at work. Being passed over for every promotion,
For example, if a new male employee was promoted over a female supervisor to a manager position. It would be likely that the female supervisor would have difficulty in accepting the new employee as her boss. This conflict could decrease the effectivity of both of their jobs. Women often experience discrimination by getting fewer hours because of the view that they can 't balance home and work life. It can be argued It is their choice to work reduced hours, especially with young children. But a study by Joan Williams has shown there are only two alternatives for mothers. Either work an “ideal” job which can include up to 40 hours plus a week, or take a “dead end job” with no hope of promotion. Although, many conflicts revolve around the subject of the “wage gap”. The global wage gap is 23%, and in many areas this is because of lack of education. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median income for women in 2009 for full-time employment was $36,278 while men during the same period earned a median annual salary of $47,127. By eliminating the wage gap women and men will feel more equal and resolve this
Ideas and pitches are easily looked over due to the gender of the employee giving the pitch. A study by analytics firm, used key cards to track the productivity between male and female. The study was conducted at call company where women averaged 9 percent difference in productivity. This proves that a company could greatly benefit from female workers. In other situations, the same pitch could be given by a different gender and receive a different response. Corporations could miss out on creative ideas due to the close minds of the superiors listening to them. If every pitch and idea were heard equally companies could result in having an abundance of new creative ideas and
