So what is marriage? Many define marriage as the legally or formally recognized union of a man and a woman as partners in a relationship. Others define marriage as the legally or formally recognized union of two people in a relationship. As of now gay marriage is starting to become normal to most people. On the other hand people see gay marriage as the worst thing to happen to world. Society has made it prevalent that most marriages are supposed to be made between a man and a woman. Whether it is in television or even in music, usually guys are supposed to be attracted to girls and visa versa. There is evidence that children raised by homosexuals are more likely to engage in homosexuality and to feel confused about their sexual identity (Dent, George W). People argue that that gay couples will not as strong of parent as heterosexual parents. Christians believe that marriage is sacred and should be just between a man and a woman. For example, within the Bible it states that from the beginning of the creation, God made them male and female. For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother; and shall cleave to his wife.” (Mark 10:6-7). This shows how Christians believe that man and women should be the only people who are allowed to be married. According to the Bible, people who didn’t follow the word of God received his judgment. In the book of Genesis it states, “The Lord rained down sulphurous fire upon Sodom and Gomorrah. Religious societies have engraved it into the heads of Christians and other religious groups that if you don’t follow the will of God you will be punished and they see people who support gay marriage as sinners.
