Worcester, Mass, Sept. 27, 2016. Good morning everyone. I am Patricia Simon, the CEO of Matterhorn Health. Thank you for coming to this press conference today. First of all, we apologize for what happened with our new product, “GlucoGauge” in the last couple months. As you know, GlucoGauge has inaccuracy problems on delivering the level of “hypo” zone to diabetic patients. We realized that inaccurate reading leads to a fatal condition to the patient.
Matterhorn Health R&D team conducted extensive research and pre-release testing for about 3 years before we release GlucoGauge to the market. We allocated the biggest portion of our budget to create GlucoGauge. We want diabetic patients able to monitor their glucose level regularly and accurately with a simple and an

After conducted a thorough test to the component, we conclude that there is an issue with the new strips, CAP action (CAP). Inaccuracy occurs because the microprocessor sometimes fails read the CAP strip test properly. However, it does not happen when the device is used with the older generation strip technology, such as Master Strip 2.
We take full responsibility for this problem. Through this press release, we encourage the Gluco Gauge user to switch the strip test with Master Strip 2 until we can eliminate inaccuracy issue of CAP action strip test. Therefore, we are going to simultaneously deliver a free 3 month supply of Master Strip 2 test strips. Sadly, we have to say that this decision would impact to our financial and unfortunately we will have to temporary lay-off around 400 employees to cover our budget. Again, we deeply apologize to the consumer who bears the direct impact on this condition. But you have to remember that Matterhorn Health always commits providing the best health device that accurate, easy to use with an affordable price. We put humanity as our business foundation. Thank you.

What is the transducer in our sensor scheme (in the assay you used)? What is the most common transducer for commercial glucometers (such as what you would buy at a drug store)? May have to research this. (5 points)
During the year 1889, two researchers, Joseph Von Mering and Oskar Minkowski, had discovered the disease that is known today as diabetes. Diabetes is a disease in which the insulin levels (a hormone produced in unique cells called the islets of Langerhans found in the pancreas) in the bloodstream are irregular and therefore affect the way the body uses sugars, as well as other nutrients. Up until the 1920’s, it was known that being diagnosed with diabetes was a death sentence which usually affected “children and adults under 30.” Those who were diagnosed were usually very hungry and thirsty, which are two of the symptoms associated with diabetes. However, no matter how much they ate, their bodies wouldn’t be able to use the nutrients due to the lack of insulin. This would lead to a very slow and painful death. In 1922, four Canadian researchers by the names of Frederick G. Banting, Charles H. Best, John J.R. MacLeod, and James B. Collip had discovered a way to separate insulin in the pancreas of dogs and prepare it in such a way so that it can be used to treat diabetic patients. In the year 2008, there were 1,656,470 people who suffered from diabetes in Canada, and by 2010, it is predicted that this disease will take over the lives of 285 million people . Although there is no cure for diabetes, the treatment of prepared insulin is prolonging the lives of diabetics and allowing them to live freely. The discovery of insulin was important and significant in Canada’s history because Banting was a Canadian medical scientist who had a purpose in finding a treatment for diabetes, its discovery has saved lives and improved the quality of life of those suffering from this disease, and it showed the world Canada’s medical technology was ...
Insulin is by far the most influential discovery in Canadian and world history. In Canada in 2008/2009 there were 2.4 million people living with diabetes and there are many more today. With out the discovery of insulin many people would not be able to live full lives. However, the discovery of insulin was not just an accomplishment Fredrick Banting and his colleagues had developed in the 1920s, it was a product of timing and luck on Banting’s part and the idea that he took from others was the product that changed the century.
In 2006, Diabetes UK held a very successful promotion campaign called the “Measure Up” message...
Needle-prick method was one of the earliest innovations in blood glucose monitoring and stayed the gold standard for a while. Right from the time, Ames Company released Dextrosix in 1965, this invasive method of blood glucose technology advanced rapidly. Even though the first glucose meter took six years to follow the Dextrostix blood strip, advancements followed rapidly. There were 2 companies in the market in 1971, but by 1987, there were 20 companies in market working on producing a better glucose meter. By 1987, as standard glucose monitoring technologies were hitting a plateau in terms of innovation, an effort to begin low-cost glucose monitoring started. This effort was directed at making the glucose monitors easily available at home, making patient use easier.

After experimenting on dogs, Professor John Maceod provided the pair with cow pancreases which was when the extract was named insulin. A biochemist named Bertram Collip joined the research group to help find a way to purify insulin so it could be tested on humans. Banting and Best took the experiments to the extreme when they decided to test the insulin by injecting themselves. The injection caused the two to become weak and dizzy –both are signs of hypoglycemia, a condition which occurs when one’s glucose levels fall too low. After the team figured out how to treat hypoglycemia and understood the required doses, they felt confident enough to try insulin on
Diabetes is an autoimmune disease that has affected more than 140 million people in the world. This disease, results from the attack of the killer T-cells of the immune system upon the ?-cells in the pancreas that produces insulin. (Lin et al., 2001). Until recently, this disease could only be treated with daily insulin injections and adherence to a strict, low glucose diet. With more than ninety percent of diabetics at risk for future complications like heart disease, blindness, and renal failure, diabetes has developed into more than just a medical issue. Diabetes is also becoming largely an emotional and economic issue. Victims of this disease have no choice but to adjust their lives around the only object that could change their lives?a daily injection that may cost 50% of the annual income in developing countries and up to 600% in non-developed countries. New technology th...
Everyone thinks barrel racing is a boring, girl, rodeoing event. It is not. Barrel racing is a fun, exciting, not just a girls rodeo event. I am going to tell you a story about how barrel racing changed a girl’s life and how she changed the sport of barrel racing. I am going to tell you about Amberley Snyder. She was in an accident and she thought she was never gonna be able to ride her horses again and not even barrel race. But Snyder never gave up. She knew that if she gave up, she would never be happy again. She didn't not gave up. She helped work with her horses to make it so she could ride again. She practiced very hard in order for her to barrel race again. She never gave up. She thought about giving up, but she never gave up.
General Purpose: To inform the audience about the cause, affect and ways to manage stress.
A long time ago, before our time, there was a sickness called diabetes. Not contagious, but yet hereditary and in some cases caused by excessive sugar consumption. Then, before 1922, this sickness was incurable but now it has been tamed. Yes I said “tamed”, and it has been tamed by a little 3 syllable word called insulin. It has come along way from what it was when it was first used and it changed life as we know it. Its impact on life will last forever and a lifetime. I know for a fact that if I ever cross the sickness that requires insulin, I would be the most grateful for the people who made it.
As society develops, people do not stop seeking access to healthcare services in order to ensure a better quality of life. With largely diverse populations, the Bronx has emerged to be a widely populated community in New York City. As a result, the challenges present in the community are overpopulation, polluted environment, excessive fast food chains, and noise pollution due to various transportations that are a root cause of many healthcare problems. One of the most significant is diabetes and the Bronx in particular has turned into the biggest epicenter of New York City’s diabetes crisis. Since diabetes has exploded into an alarming epidemic all over the country, it has become a formidable disease and also the seventh leading cause of death with multiple life-threatening complications and consequences for American society nowadays. Being a national priority concern, diabetes needs to be controlled to provide healthy communities for the American people, particularly residents located geographically in the Bronx community in New York.
