Diabetes UK is a British-based, charity organization that strives for improvements in care and treatment of people with type 1 and 2 diabetes. It is the non-profit company, so they promote solely to offer information on how to manage and prevent diabetes. Diabetes UK, connects with and campaigns on behalf of everyone who is affectedby and at risk of diabetes, reaching out to people with diabetes in local communities throughout the United Kingdom.
Diabetes UK is a growing community that has over 300,000 supporters around the nation involving people diagnosed with diabetes, as well as their friends and families whom are affected by the condition. Collaborating with as many as 5,500 volunteers and 315 voluntary groups they raise awareness and funds, as well as campaign for change and support. Diabetes UK has a professional membership of over 6,000 healthcare providers from various clinical backgrounds. Members of the organization are professionals in the field of diabetes care, treatment and research. They use their expertise to collect the evidence base for strategies that help those affected by diabetes and educate their campaigns for helpful services.
Accordingto Diabetes UK (2012) “There are currently 3.8 million people in the UK with diabetes, including an estimated 850,000 people who have Type 2 diabetes but do not know it.” Helping to shape their services and work, Diabetes UK makes sure to involve people affected by and at risk of diabetes no matter what ethnic background they come from. From support and care to preventing, campaigning, fundraising and researching, they work to take on the fastest growing epidemic in the UK.

The“Measure Up” campaign road show was so successful at influencingthe public to take action, Diabetes UK has held one every year since the first one in 2006. The campaign road show started off traveling to eight different cities in the UK; in 2013 they traveled to ninety-three different cities. The medical practitioners who were part of the campaign completed over twenty-thousand risk assessments that helped in awareness of type 2 diabetes. The campaign now supplies hand-outs on info about type 1 diabetes as well. Diabetes UK“Measure Up”road show is the largest and highest profile awareness campaign in the organization's history.
