My group previously visited the Sheraton Hotel for our first interview with the front desk manager and it went very well. We decided to keep with the same hotel for our next interview, but due to a last-minute cancellation from the housekeeping manager we were not able to complete the interview. Due to this situation, I will be talking about a whole different hotel - G6 Hospitality. The name G6 Hospitality refers to the hotel brands – Motel 6 and Studio 6. I chose to G6 Hospitality because it is a well-known company that I wanted to know about more in-depth. From all my research, I have gained a lot of insight on what G6 Hospitality is all about. The history of G6 Hospitality goes back to about 55 years ago. Two guys …show more content…
It experienced rapid expansion throughout the 1970’s and early 1980’s. Because of the tremendous acceptance of this booming new budget motel across the entire country, Motel 6 was obtained by an investment group led by Kohlberg, Kravis, Roberts & Company (KKR). Due to the great efforts of the KKR, Motel 6 was able to release its first advertising campaign in 1986: “We’ll leave the light on for you®.” A few years later in 1990, the company became a subsidiary of a French Hotel company, Accor’s. Under the leadership of Accor’s, the brand grew into franchising, growing from 500 locations to 1,100. Along with the franchising came Motel 6’s extended stay brand in 1999, Studio 6. This was another huge accomplishment and revolution for this company. Finally in October 2012, The Blackstone Group completed its acquirement of the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands and G6 Hospitality (the brands’ management company) was born. In 2015 G6 Hospitality was rated one of the top 10 hospitality companies according to the Hotel Management Top Hotel rankings list, which evaluated over 260 hotel companies. Today, the G6 hospitality network has more than 1,200 locations in the U.S. and Canada (http://www.g6mediacenter.com/us/motel6.html). This company has a lot of history behind it and it has become such an excellent …show more content…
The company offers a total rewards package that included a competitive salary, incentive plans and a wide variety of benefit designs to meet a persons’ needs and aid them in difficult times and plan for the future. Some of the benefits for the G6 Hospitality corporate include, Medical and Description Drug Plan, Dental Plan, Long and short-term disability, supplemental life insurance, performance bonuses, 401(k) savings and investment plan, vouchers for hotel stay and much more. If someone if interested in working in the hospitality industry this would be a fantastic company to work for or start at. A manager from Motel 6 in North Dakota said, “You can learn any position you want to apply for and advancing within the company is easy if you are willing to learn and put in the work” (http://www.indeed.com/cmp/Motel-6-/-Studio-6/reviews?fcountry=US). This employee confirms my statement on how G6 Hospitality is a great company to work for and hard work truly does pay off in this type of industry. Although my group was not able have the second interview with Sheraton Suites Hotel, I was able to gain a lot of knowledge about a different company. I learned much about an extremely popular lodging franchise (Motel 6 and Studio 6) and from that I can enlighten people around me that next time I am traveling and pass one of them. Like I said before, I was not very familiar

Back in 1978, China had only 137 tourist hotels. With the introduction of economic reform and the open door policy, this led to a rapid growth in the hotel industry for China. The InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) was among the earliest international hotel chains to enter the China Market. The first hotel they introduced to China was the Lido Holiday Inn that was opened in Beijing. After the first year of the Holiday Inn in China, there was an outstanding performance by earning a big profit. This proved that the market for international owned hotels was good and with tourism and the economy growing every year, why wouldn’t you place a hotel in Chinas growing market. Just ten years later, there were ten more hotels managed by the IHG in major cities in China. The InterContinental brand innovated to the China market to set them apart from the competition. They were the first international hotel chain to launch a Chinese language website and the first to offer online reservations to guests who did not use credit cards. The premise of this paper is to provide the reader with insight on how the InterContinental Hotel Group implemented strategies in China to gain a competitive advantage. I will go further to discuss how it can maintain its advantage in the future. The IHG Company has

This assignment will analyse IHG in twelve contexts: how it started as a brewery and moved to hotels and the hospitality industry, the number of branches they have and where they are situated, how the company helps the environment as well as how they embrace new technology and develop the industry, the rules or code of conduct that all employees should learn, what the group does to help and improve the local community and people, as well as some of the bad news that could damage this company, the main offices that control the branches and hotels, and finally, the final report from last year, 2015.
On a closer look at the third important operational metric which is the Average Daily Rate (ADR) of traditional hotels in the USA, Televisory found that the ADR of the budget hotel segment declined by 14.5% on a YoY basis and was worst impacted among on all chain scale in 2015. A declining ADR for the budget segment somewhat explains unaffected occupancy rate despite direct competition from Airbnb and increasing guest preference towards the accommodation provided by Airbnb, as budget hotels reduced their tariffs to compete with
"Any hotel is only as good as its personnel." This statement made by Gordon McGregor, the hotel manager, clearly portrays Corporate Strategy influencing HR policies and procedures. When Natalie Sharp the Director of Personnel, Gordon and the Supervisory Staff adjourned their meeting on contemplating how they might develop a good HR strategy to attract good work candidates, and fill the remaining available positions at the hotel. Another way corporate strategy influences HR strategy is through Distinctive Competence. Gordon has 15 years experience with this chain and for the last two years he has been highly involved in the planning of Tall Pines Center. Natalie has worked with 2 other hotel chains and helped open a new 100-room motel in the southwest recently. Their experience combined wi...
