Scientific Literacy is the ability to grasp scientific concepts for personal decision making. This project will demonstrate an understanding of scientific knowledge achieved through ERAU Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics degree program. Nanotechnology plays by a unique set of rules in some forms that other materials under the same stressors do not. With that being said, traditional laws may not always be applicable to certain areas of nanotechnology. Nanotoxicology will be covered in order to elaborate on the aspect of possible hazards of nanomaterials and nanocomposites as well as the mechanics behind these materials will be explored. Meteorology will play a role in determining the feasibility of some nanomaterials like nanocoating on aircraft. The examination will cover some adverse weather phenomenon effects on nanocoated aircraft. A key component for identifying some potential materials will be the exploration of publications on quantum mechanics to understand how these materials perform on a nano-scale as opposed to their macro or micro counterparts. For example, research sponsored by the Division of Materials Sciences found the molecular dynamics method of calculations may be unstable and unreliable when calculating the structure of some nanotechnology applications. (Noid, 2014).
Cultural Literacy
“The student will be able to analyze historical events, cultural artifacts, and philosophical concepts” (Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, 2014).
Cultural literacy is the knowledge gained from other perspectives and shared as a common knowledge of a society. Cultural literacy will be addressed in this project by analyzing the public’s familiarity, perceived risks, and potential benefits of nanotechnology. This will be cru...

The objective of this research report is to provide a thorough analysis of Alaska Airlines. In order to do this we chose to compare a similar company against them. The company in comparison is Spirit Airlines. Both companies compete in the same type of business through airline transportation. Many of their services include; security, safety, transportation of passengers as well as luggage, ensuring vehicle safety while in transit, concierge services, providing entertainment aboard plane, checking weather conditions prior to flight, and much more. All of the data gathered for this report was obtained from the company’s 10-k filings with the SEC.

According to the International Air Transport Association, 2001 was only the second year in the history of civil aviation in which international traffic declined. Overall, it is believed that the IATA membership of airlines collectively lost more than US$12 billion during this time (Dixon, 2002).
As a conclusion, I hope these previous paragraphs have given you the knowledge that everyone dealing with physics or airplanes should possess. These factors may not show all that physics has to contribute in the flight of an aircraft but they do show the major contributions. After reading these paragraphs, you should now have greater respect for physics, not just in airplanes, but in the world, because it is all around you and nothing can exist or work without it.

60-B is home to the Design-Build-Fly Team, Team Air, and the UAS club on campus. As president of the AIAA Design-Build-Fly Team I can only begin to tell you about the needs of our team, and the needs of the teams aforementioned. Hands-on experience for the engineering student is a crucial part of learning, it makes us understand the difference between theory and real world practice. While we may only be an extra-curricular team, we take part in what may possibly be one of the best simulations of what our members will see as part of the work-force. From the ground up we design, build, and test our very own aircraft, we then compete against-most recently- 140 schools from across the globe in representation of our university. While we are completely student run, some of these schools consist of graduate students, and some of these schools use this competition as their senior capstone projects, and yet we still fare incredibly well in competition with them, placing 12th this year. There are a vast number of engineering teams on campus, with only so many places to construct our projects.
Aviation has come a long way since the 19th century, from the Wright brothers taking flight with the first powered and controlled gliders, to aircraft that can travel up to supersonic speeds, orbiting satellites and space stations which then were only thought to be science-fiction. Aerospace and aviation has proven to be one of the biggest challenges to advance in the entirety of human existence. There are many factors and characteristics that contributed to this advancement such as the engines of aircraft, forces of flight, aerodynamic forces, wingspans etc. The two most significant aspects however have been; World War 1 and World War 2.

Ever since I was little I was amazed at the ability for a machine to fly. I have always wanted to explore ideas of flight and be able to actually fly. I think I may have found my childhood fantasy in the world of aeronautical engineering. The object of my paper is to give me more insight on my future career as an aeronautical engineer. This paper was also to give me ideas of the physics of flight and be to apply those physics of flight to compete in a high school competition.
Several large scale, interrelated conditions have affected the airline industry over the past several years in such a manner that every carrier has had to respond in order to remain viable and competitive.

For the past three semesters, I have conducted research in the Aerospace Engineering Department at Mississippi State University. My research has confirmed my decision to major in aerospace engineering, and has sparked my continuing interest in aerospace engineering research. My research has been incorporated into the two required freshman aerospace labs, ASE1013 and ASE1023. I want to continue researching throughout my college experience with the professors and students who have become my teammates. My research has made me realize that my dream of being an aerospace engineer is not just a child's whim, but a very realistic goal.
