Wake up, work, gym, make dinner, sleep. Repeat. Sometimes life can feel super mundane during the week for me. A couple times a year, I find myself just going through the motions and not feeling like I'm truly living each day. In face, I've never met one person that hasn't felt obligated to do something they didn't want to but had to because, well, we are adults and don't have the luxuries to have naps, snack time and play time anymore. unnamed I was in one of these funks recently and I thought it would be beneficial to many of you to share some of my "get out of funk" tactics. Even if you don't feel like you are in a funk, these are things you can do to change up your daily routine and make your work week more interesting. 1. Listen to new music. I recently discovered a new Pandora station- Indie Folk Revival Music. It is a great station to put on during the day when you have a big project to crank out or need some music to cheer you up. Take a walk. In Cleveland, the leaves are the perfect color right now and temperatures are ideal. Instead of taking the lunch hour to getaway from your desk, aim for later in the afternoon. I know that you will not believe this and think that the world is horrible and is not worth living in but I promise you that there is still good in the world. Eat a healthy diet. Well-nourished bodies are better prepared to cope with stress. Start your day with a healthy breakfast, reduce your caffeine and sugar intake, and cut back on alcohol and nicotine.
Set your alarm at least an hour before you really need to get out of the bed. If you set the alarm for an earlier hour you get to hit the snooze button few extra times. After the third hit, you should have awakened enough to actually rise out of the bed. Fix yourself a cup of coffee, sit on the sofa, and stare into space at least fifteen minutes, but no more than thirty. This gives you time to not think about all that you have to do today.
3. Get physical: Lightly jog around the house, or do 5-10 jumping jacks to keep you warm, elevate your heart rate, and get your blood flowing normally. Don't overexercise though! Circulation is important for alertness.

For most people, the year just began and activities are still a bit low key especially as we are just coming in from the festive season. Before the end of January though, we would be right back in the middle of work routine, family routine and/or household routine. And then anxiety sets in; but anxiety is good.
When I feel stressed, I listen to my favorite music on my iPod or play my one of my favorite computer games. This is my way of zoning out and just forgetting about everything around me. Notice your feelings - see if you can stay in that feeling or find a way to propagate that feeling within you. Play the game with yourself of "if this were to happen, how would it feel?" Try and place yourself mentally, physically, and emotionally in the picture.
Think about someone who makes you laugh, something that excites you, some activity that pleases you — it may provide just the escape you need from those negative emotions.
Experience something immediately pleasurable. Do something that you enjoy in order to help you cope better.
The second thing you can do would be to take a break. You can take a break by hanging out with your friends, listening to music, or taking a nap.
