Defend your answer. I believe Frederick Jackson Turner was correct. The frontier made United States unique because United States was a place of opportunity that beckoned people out of crowded eastern cities. United States could also guarantee equality of opportunity for all as long as people had access to the land and a fresh start in life out west. United States served as a safety valve and its uniqueness because of American exceptionalism: the idea that its individualism and democratic values made the country unique among other nations of the world.
