Case Study #4 Forgiveness Case study # 4 says: One of your parents/ family members/ friends has been caught cheating with another person. She/he asks for forgiveness and desires to work through the problem. The worksheet that may be helpful for the case would be the Temptations worksheet. This worksheet talks about more than one example of Jesus being tempted. One temptation was in Matthew 4:1-4 and Luke 4:1-4. The devil is tempting Jesus to turn the bread into stones to prove that he was Jesus after he had fasted for forty days and forty nights. Jesus was famished but did not give in to the temptation but responded by saying, Matthew 4:4… “It is written, one does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.” Forgiving someone and trying to work through the problem is an example practicing the word of God. Matthew 5:44-45 says, “…Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father in heaven…” I’m not saying that cheating one someone is okay and over time if the person keeps cheating I’m not saying that cheating one …show more content…
someone is okay and over time if the person keeps cheating you may need to let go and move on. We must learn to forgive other the same way we ask God to forgive us so if someone gets caught cheating we can at least try to work through the problem. One way to try to learn ways Jesus would of responded is to look at the Wonders and Mighty Deeds worksheet. Case Study #9. How to React? Case study #9 says: You are exiting the 99 highway and a woman is standing at the end of the exit ramp, in old, dirty clothing with a somber look on her face.
You notice she has a small bottle of vodka and is smoking a cigarette. She holds a sign that reads, “Homeless Widow. No family. No money. Anything helps, God Bless.” I believe the Wonders and Mighty Deeds worksheet would be helpful for this case. This worksheet talks about lots of different miracles Jesus performed and the way he responded to many different types of people: sinners, sick, demoniac, and the poor. Matthew 7:1 says, “Do not judge, so that you may not be judge.” When someone comes to us for help we should no judge them for the actions but be helpful because that is what Jesus’ teachings teach us. We will be judge by our Father for actions and how we treat one another not by our physical
actions.
We had a relative who had lost everything in a fire. Her house was burned, and she lost all her belongings. She was homeless for years with her family. She was displaced and had move several times in order to find a home. She had no money, food or job, but was helped by family and members of her church. For these reasons, she found inner strength and learned how to sew and got a job as a seamstress. Despite the hunger and hardship she faced during her homelessness, she was able to turn her life around and resolve her homeless situation. However, Novograts was never homeless, hungry or poor. She worked hard, and had encountered a lot struggle during her stay in Africa. Even though she experience different suffering it was not close to what these women have been
As humans, we are entitled to making mistakes in our lives, but by forgiving one free himself from anger. Marianne Williamson wrote this about forgiveness: “ Forgiveness is not always easy. At times, it feels more painful than the wound we suffered, to forgive the one that inflicted it. And yet, there is no peace without forgiveness.” In the book The Glass Castle undergoes many difficult circumstances in which the act of forgiveness is the only way to be at peace with her family, but more importantly herself. But the real question is does she truly forgive them. Jeanette’s ability to constantly forgive her parents enabled her to have a positive attitude because the negativity was released when
Forgiveness and justice are very similar than we believe them to be. We believe that justice is
to do evil to their enemies, but to instead to them good, and to pray
They are hopeless and need some compassion in their lives. They need support, not to be ignored and looked down on. Everyone has equal dignity and a right to live, no matter what state of well being this person is in, therefore avoid being blind. Morally people are called to do good within our community and to give to the poor instead of living in greed and selfishness. The ethical interdependent system suggests the codes of behaviour is another important factor to live within justice and to promote peace. The Catholic Social teachings include caring for God's creations and living in solidarity; responding in a compassionate way towards the ill in our society especially the ones without housing or
As our first year of apologetic class, we started out with the basic idea of apologetics. The root word of apologetic, apologia, means “ To speak in defense “ and it is often used in religious matters. The purpose of apologetic is to give a solid and valid defense against the questions that are thrown against the christian society. We give such defense by stating the facts that provide support to the christian statements and views. As a christian, we are supposed to be able to explain our faith as it is said in 1 Peter 3:15 “ But in your heart set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give answer to everyone who asks you to give reasons for the hope that you have. But do it with gentleness and respect.”. We defend our faith not only to have a solid base, but also in order to help those who are in search for truth.

...ome, or they lost their employment, or they fell ill, perhaps a combination of all three that led to a life of homelessness. In the state the world is in today, it is necessary that people should not be quick to judge, but quick to lend a helping hand. The government and volunteer agencies do a lot to help but not all are so fortunate. In one way or another everyone is struggling financially, and if it is not resolved soon, more people than ever might be heading down the path of homelessness. In the meantime it is indispensable to support charities in donations or volunteer some time for the shelters dedicated to those without a home. People should place themselves in the position of a homeless, and see how appreciative one would be for shelter, warm covers and a hot meal in a time of need. For in the long run, the words of the many must echo the words of the few.
In The Essential Elements of Sin, Towns (2012), strategically breaks down the two concepts of conditional sin and temptation further into depth. When it comes to understanding the idea of temptation, Towns (2012) states that acting upon and setting that desire into motion is what causes man to commit an actual sin. When man is placed in a situation in which he is being tempted to sin, that temptation he is feeling should not be confused with a natural human instinct. James 1:13 (International Standard Version) states, “when someone is tempted, he should not say, ‘I am being tempted by God,’ because God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.” Hence, it was Adam and Eve’s reaction of giving into the serpent’s lies that caused them to fall into temptation and disobey

For about a month when I was four or five years old my small mind was entirely obsessed with the microwave. This seemingly magical box where you insert an object and it came out steaming hot was fascinating to me. My mother never allowed me near the microwave. I would later find out that this restriction was for a reason.
Forgiveness is wholesome for the mind, body and soul. Forgiveness is defined as the action of forgiving or being forgiven, which means that someone has to let go of the problem that had caused tension in their lives. Forgiving someone is freeing. To forgive someone it means to give that person a second chance. Forgiving someone means that what happened between people is put in the past. The pain and memory will always be the person who had done the wrong is forgiven. Christians are to fear the Lord because of how powerful and almighty he is. God’s loves for everyone is gargantuan, so Christians are supposed to obey Him and His word. God tells everyone to forgive those who had hurt them. Willingly forgiving Christians of their sins, and because He has forgiven Christians they are to forgive others. Although the world’s reasons to forgive other are valid, they are all but selfish reasons to take the initiative to forgive other people.
Forgiveness is the act of releasing an offender of any wrong or hurt they may have caused you whether they deserve it or not. It is a decision to let go of resentment or vengeance toward a person or group of people. When we choose to forgive, we’re wiping the slate clean, cancelling a debt, or as I love to say, “Letting it go.” In the Bible, the Greek word for forgiveness literally means to “let it go.” This concept, “forgiveness,” is easier said than done. Majority of people find it very difficult to let go of offenses and hurts caused by others. I really do believe that most people desire to let it go, but we lack the knowledge of how to do it. As believers, we are instructed by God maintain an attitude of forgiveness.
For this assignment I decided to pick a top strength to further embrace and a lower strength to work on making better. My second highest ranking on the assessment and the strength I chose to further embrace was kindness and generosity. This character strength is characterized as being kind to others and happy to do favors for anyone even if you don’t know them well. The second strength I chose to focus on was my absolute bottom strength: Forgiveness and Mercy. This is characterized as not holding a grudge or seeking revenge but rather letting the feud settle and forgiveness and mercy overcome you. The week I spent working on these strengths had many ups and downs but I feel as though they ultimately came to a successful conclusion and a place where I can continue to grow from.
