Psychology is one of those scientific fields that has many different options in it. In the most basic definition, psychology is the study of the mind. Depending on the field, their patients range from children to adults, athletes to normal people. There are many different kinds of psychologists that individuals can visit. For example, an athlete can go to a sports psychologist. The police can use a forensic psychologist for help solving a case, as another example. Psychology can be very beneficial to a wide variety of people.

and if it is, how it can be treated. Psychologists, also known as a guidance counselor, can be a major support in school environments. If there is a student struggling with what they are leaning, or having friend problems, they can go talk to the school counselor for guidance. They study how different things can affect a person’s health. Certain circumstances can affect the health of the mind and the body. Psychology is concerned with how people perceive the world around them (Mattiuzzi, 2007). This can be important because they can see the way the act and how they look at things, like whether they look at it like a glass half full or a glass half empty. Psychology is a scientific field that is all about the mind and emotions. Psychologists have to go through a lot of schooling before they can become a licensed psychologist. They can take many classes in high school that start their interests and correct education. In order to become a licensed psychologist in Utah, an undergraduate, masters, and doctoral degree in psychology is required (Psychologydegree411.com , 2016). Psychologists are consulted for many different reasons. They care for people with mental or emotional disabilities, and help them deal with their issues (Psychology.org, 2016). Psychologists provide counseling, focus on productivity, and improve the functions of human beings. There are many reasons why people go to a psychologist. First a problem is identified and if it isn’t dealt with cleanly, then it becomes a symptom. Anxiety is a major reason why people consult a psychologist. Some symptoms of anxiety are tension, restlessness, fatigue, and irritability (Richmond, 2016). Some other problems that are addressed in a session are, stress, depression, family issues, health issues, phobias, and trauma. People go to psychologists to get help on setting, maintaining, and achieving goals. Psychologists can also help with anger problems and can assist in quitting smoking. Psychologists are very helpful people with a lot of schooling and experience to help people with their problems. There are many different fields of psychology.
Each field has a wide variety of skills and specialties. They all do different things and help different kinds of people. For example, sports psychology is a big one. It deals with athletes who are struggling with something in a sport. Some other fields are child, clinical, counseling, educational, forensic, and health psychology (Psychology.org, 2016). These different areas are important for many reasons. For instance, forensic psychology deals with the law. They deal with criminal cases, like going to court, and civil cases, like deciding who has custody of the kids after a …show more content…
divorce. As mentioned above sports psychology is a specific field of psychology. It deals with athletes of all levels to get them in the right frame of mind. Sports psychologists can help create goals that are focused to the sport they play. They use psychological knowledge to address optimal performance and the well-being of athletes (APA.org, 2016). Sometimes after and injury, athletes need help adjusting to being side-lined and being able to tolerate the pain. They help players cope with the pressure of being in a higher level league and try to keep them enjoying the sport. They can keep them to an exercise program outside of the season too. Sport psychologists can practice in many different places. They can practice in a hospital, clinic, gym, physical therapy center, a high school, and even a college campus. Clinical psychology is the study of mental and behavioral health care. They give assessments to test the mind and the level that it thinks at. They also can diagnose and give treatments to these mental disorders in order to help their patient. Some of the strong skills of a clinical psychologist are patience, problem-solving, empathy and trustworthiness. Typical work settings for clinical psychologists include hospitals, academia, and private practice (Psychology.org, 2016). A few careers dealing with clinical psychology are health and child psychology, neuropsychology and geropsychology. These are all considered clinical psychologists because they all deal with the abilities and illnesses of the mind. Forensic psychology is the psychological assessment of those who are involved in a legal issue.
They typically work in prisons, jails, police departments and law firms. Forensic psychologists offer professional expertise to help the judicial system in criminal and civil cases (Psychology.org, 2016). They can use the evidence in a crime scene to create a criminal profile, to narrow down the number of suspects. In addition to finding suspects, they also give recommendations to the amount of jail time that is required, or if it’s not significant enough for jail, the punishment that shall be put in place. Some of the skills that forensic psychologists have are keeping an open-mind, teamwork, and
resilience. Another field of psychology is industrial organizational psychology. This practice is commonly referred to as I-O psychology. I-O psychologists study the behavior of people in a professional setting like work. They focus on individual and group work. These professionals pay attention to the patient’s satisfaction, performance, safety, health and well-being in the work environment, and help them improve in their weak spots. I-O psychologists are usually hired by a specific company to recreate the way their business runs. A good I-O psychologist will have the following skills: problem sensitivity, critical thinking, a fluency of ideas, and being able to do thorough research (Psychology.org, 2016). One more field of psychology is school psychology. School psychologists focus on creating a safe environment for the students at the school they work at. These professionals work closely with teachers and parents to help students strengthen their academic, social and behavioral skills. Some of the many skills that good school psychologists have are: critical thinking, a knowledge of common mental disabilities, math, and a sensitivity to privacy concerns. Some jobs in this career are special education teachers, counselors, and preventative and responsive services. They can help bring awareness of problems, like bullying, to the school through assemblies and class sessions. School psychologists address the problem and try to come up with a solution that will help everyone involved. In conclusion, psychology is a very broad scientific field. It can be narrowed down to almost every kind of person. There are psychologists specifically for children, athletes, adults, and students. There is a specialist out there for everyone to use. Psychologists are not there only to aid the people with a problem. They are there for people to have someone to talk to and give them professional advice that will help them in their lives.
Psychology can be broadly defined as the scientific and systematic study of people’s behavior and mental processes.
Psychology is a social science that aims to study the mind and the behaviors of humans. It aims to understand what drives humans to act the way they do. It differs from sociology and anthropology in that it takes accounts the individual rather than society as a whole.
There are several different types of psychologist for different problems. One example is a school psychologist. In education and school psychology, they study the process of education and works to promote the intellectual, social, and emotional development of children in the school environment. The main type of psychology is called clinical psychology, which specializes in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of mental and behavioral disorders.
Overall, though, I believe that Stein is the closest scholar here-mentioned to have accounted for the explanation behind these controversies. The main mistake made by many modern scholars lies in the planning and the research – too much effort is spent on seeking to explain this opposition between the Proculians and the Sabinians in terms of two internally coherent law schools which differ entirely and have held controversies stemming from a specific occurrence. I have personally, as a student of the Roman law, found it difficult in reading the sources and differing theories from scholars to do just this – because, as Scarano Ussani stated, nowhere, in the mass of research that has been done, have any definitive results been reached. As afore-mentioned, I ruled out the political explanation for the purpose of answering this question, and the social explanation does not add a great deal to the debate for me. The theories supporting the social standpoint as addressed in this essay are among the worst for choosing to ignore many of the hard facts in order to make their theory fit better. This leaves only the philosophical and methodological explanations. The philosophical explanation is a reasonably sound one, although as explored above, I do believe that its significance has been largely exaggerated. There is no doubt over the fact that philosophy has played an influential role - even if you only look at Gaius’ ius gentium which contains a certain level of Stoic influence, but as mentioned above there are major differences which have been overlooked slightly in those arguments. The methodological explanation is another seemingly logical one, and the most reliable of all theorems explored in this essay, in my opinion, as it i...
There are six general areas in forensic. Theres a medical examiner, crime laboratory analyst, crime scene examiner and a forensic engineer. determining which one you want can be hard, but its easier to talk to someone who does that job. They can tell you different things about the job.
Clinical psychology aims to understand, treat and prevent psychological distress and dysfunction thus to encourage good health, good adaptive thinking and a healthy lifestyle. People working in this field research into mental dysfunction suffered by the patients, assess their cognitive state of mind and perform psychotherapy to decrease the psychological symptoms and/ or the underlying causes.
Forensic evidence can provide just outcomes in criminal matters. However, it is not yet an exact science as it can be flawed. It can be misrepresented through the reliability of the evidence, through nonstandard guidelines, and through public perception. Forensic science can be dangerously faulty without focus on the ‘science’ aspect. It can at times be just matching patterns based on an individual’s interpretations. This can lead to a miscarriage of justice and forever alter a person’s life due to a perceived “grey area” (Merritt C, 2010) resulting in a loss of confidence in the reliability of forensic evidence.
Forensic psychiatrist help people understand things that are beyond the obvious or the norm that most people see things in (Forensic Psychiatrist: Job Description, 2013). They have to see things in a unique perspective because of their job. They make sure that if they are working with a family and someone in that family has a mental illness, they make sure they understand exactly what they need to be prepared for (Pinizzotto, 2010).. Also all that they should expect for their loved one. Something that they do, is they do everything they can to make it the easiest on the family (Pinizzotto,
Psychology itself is a broad term where everyone may be ambiguous to it. There’s a lot of subjects psychology talks about, but it’s main definition is the scientific study of mental processes and behavior. The brain is the function to life and without it, there is no life. The brain has so many functions such as the ability for a person to see, hear, make decisions, sensing and touching, and many more. The brain regulates and sends signals to the body from birth to death. It was said, “ A person only uses 10% of it’s brain” which is completely false, everyone uses 100% of the brain even when they don’t realize it. No matter what situation anyone is dealing with, it’s how the brain would interpret the problem and that’s how one would act upon

Psychology is the study of the mind and behavior and translates as science of the soul. It is the study of human behavior and deals with how we think, feel, and act. Some areas of psychology are clinical, industrial, physiological, experimental, personality, social, and developmental. Psychologists can work in hospitals, schools, rehabilitation facilities, in public and private clinics or in the research field. They usually treat persons with mental and emotional disorders, so one may ask; why bother with psychology if you do not want to actually work as a psychologist? Even though it happens that i do want to study psychology, this year that i was introduced to it,i discovered that even if i wanted to study something entirely different, psychology would still be useful to me. So when studying psychology, you learn about human nature. This means that psychology actually has impact on every aspect in life. It helps see through the motives other people too have more importantly, it will help you to understand your own motives better. As a result

Psychology deals with the study of mental processes and a variety of behaviors. In order to fully comprehend ourselves, we need to understand the causes of our behaviors and our outlook on life. Habits and behaviors have positive and negative effects in our life. When we know ourselves and learn about our unique personality, we can develop and pursue goals. Psychology also helps us to understand other people and the differences of people. Gaining this knowledge can improve the relationships and enhance our communication skills. Throughout the psychology course I gained knowledge in various areas, and the topics that impacted me the most included: the introvert, anxiety disorders, stress management, self discipline and how to develop strong relationships.
