Food Ignorance

Many people say ignorance is bliss but when it comes to the food we eat, ignorance can be extremely unhealthy. Like most people I never really paid attention to the food I was eating and the nutritional values of that food. Over the years that attitude has led to me being overweight at 23. I measured and recorded all the food I consumed for two day and the things I found were very interesting.
I never really thought about how much food can be a social activity until this project. I work full time and go to school so during the week so I don’t really have time to socialize. I’m trying to lose weight so during the week I eat what I pack for lunch and snacks and I plan a menu for what I will have for dinner. The weekend is a whole other thing. This is the only time I have fee to see my friends or go on dates, and both of those activities involve food. During the week I make dinners that are healthy but during the weekend I end up going out or ordering pizza on a girl’s night as the case was with the recorded Sunday. Moreover, during the week I generally drink water with an occasional diet soda or lemonade but during the weekend I’m likely to have a couple glasses of wine or a beer with dinner. According to my “My Plate” report I am a little shy on the amount of dairy I should be consuming and am extremely low on the amount of fruit. For my height, weight and age it is recommend that I eat 1.5 cups of fruit a day and I am currently eating about .5 cup. I currently am eating more than the recommend amount of vegetables so instead of eating carrots as a snack I should eat some grapes and I will be fine. I am above goal on the total amount of calories consumed and the calories from fat, but both of those come from the things I ate during the
