Food Choices Everything that is alive relies on some food source in order to stay functioning and healthy. Some species are extremely particular about what food they consume, while others eat just about anything. Humans, for example, eat a huge variety of things. Humans are almost at the very top of the food chain, because humans consume such a wide variety of foods. Some people are excessively picky about what they are eating, and will only eat all organic, natural foods, such as freshly picked fruits and vegetables. Other people, however, will eat just about anything that is convenient to them-and they may not even know what they are eating a lot of the time. I used to be more in the second category of people, who would eat as I felt hungry and eat whatever was convenient to me. However, upon watching the movies Food, Inc. and Fed Up, I have started to realize the insane foods that I am eating and am shocked at how unhealthy the food I have been eating is. …show more content…

has definitely been the most effective in making me realize how bad the food I have been eating is and in making me change the way I eat, shop, and prepare food. The movie was extremely graphic at some parts, in showing how disgusting the factories where food is produced are and the torture that some animals and workers are subjected to. There was also a lot of time dedicated to explaining just how bad a lot of common foods are, such as how some spinach and apple juice could be contaminated with E. Coli because of the runoff from factory farms. This movie showed how cows and chickens are thrown around, forced to stand in inches of their own manure, and are never allowed to see the daylight, and are then ground up and sold in stores even though they could be contaminated with many different diseases from living in such bad conditions. This movie was extremely eye-opening, because it was so graphic and so in-depth of how bad the food market truly
