Floridium, also known as Fd, is a new element with currently the highest atomic number of 173 and a mass of 486.9 g. Floridium is a part of the P-block and a superactinide , falling right after Neodymium (Nd). It is also highly nonpolar with Neodymium. Because it is a p orbital, it has a dumbbell shaped orbital with three possible orientations. In addition, it has an orange-brown color, is ductile and malleable, and has a boiling point of -57.8 Celsius. The element is quite rare, only found in the Southeast United States. As of 2016, Floridium has been recognized by scientists as an element. The tar creek mining site originally was owned by a Native American tribe, the Quapaw. The Quapaw wanted to keep these lands, but the Bureau of Indian Affairs deemed members opposing a transaction to mining companies “incompetent” (1). In such a case the business could continue and the Bureau of Indian Affairs sold the lands to mining companies. In essence these lands were stolen from the Quapaw because they were ripe for mining. These mines were then used from approximately 1891 to 1970. In the 79 years the mines were open 1.7 million metric tons (~3.75 billion pounds) of lead and 8.8 million metric tons (~19.4 billion pounds) of zinc were withdrawn from the mine (2). The entire area around Tar Creek is known as the tri-state mining area. This tri-state area was a massive source of metals. This area accounted for 35% of the all worldwide metal for a decade. It also provided the majority of metals the United States used in World wars I and II (3).

I was successful in my attempts to use floo powder to travel into your office, however as I forgot to close my eyes, it was quite a dizzying experience! Despite that, it was an enjoyable experience when I traveled through the fires with my whole body. Head-only floo powder transport was not as enjoyable. It made me feel sick having my head in a different place than my legs. Also, my knees hurt from kneeling on the hard stone floor beside the fire for that amount of time.
