Once upon a time, the lone metal detectorist combing the beach was an oddity. These days, they're borderline hip. It used to be that beach essentials meant suntan oil or sunscreen, large and colorful towels, floppy hats, a Frisbee or a volleyball. Now, some can add a treasure metal detector to the list and no one will find it strange or out of place.
With news of various metal detecting finds-on the beach or elsewhere-the hobby has slowly gained mainstream acceptance. One day soon, the general public may even dub it as cool. And hobbyists hanging out at the beach sweeping their treasure metal detectors this way and that, listening for sounds intently with their headphones, eyes never leaving the sand, isn't such a strange sight anymore.

Whether hunting on a low-key strip of sand or some of the fancier, flashier locales, the beach never fails to yield some finds. For some reason, beachgoers wear some of their "bling" to the beach. A generous application of suntan oil along with the heat of the sun plus a little help from the cool waters and gentle waves equals meaningful beeps from a treasure metal detector.
When a metal detectorist forget something, it is possible that it will be discovered by the next detectorist since the sands uncover the treasures. Because of this, you can search the beaches, simply because you don't know what has been washed up or perhaps revealed by the wind.
Of course, it's not going to be all jewelry and valuable stuff each time out. In truth, a majority of the time, metal detectorists are most likely stumble onto a lot of junk before finding anything of value. The actual finding of good stuff is half the fun of treasure metal
Lincoln’s Grave Robbers is a book by Steve Sheinkin published in 2012. This book talks about the attempted theft of the body of the 16th President of the United States Abraham Lincoln. Homelessness is increasing every year and effecting Americans of different age, ethnicity and religion. In Lars Eighner “On Dumpster Diving” he explains what he went through while being homeless. He describes how and what foods someone should be looking for and to always be conscious of what one is eating because there is always a reason why something has been thrown out. He continues to go into detail about other items that can be found in the dumpster like sheets to sleep on and pieces of paper to write on. Things that can keep him busy through the day. Eighner carefully explains to his readers how being a dumpster diver has become a life style for the homeless and this is how they survive. It’s a way of living and they are comfortable doing it. “I began dumpster diving about a year before I became homeless” (Eighner 713). He tries to bring us into the world of being homeless. It is hard to imagine what it would be like in that situation, and how could surviving as a dumpster diver be a way of survival? As a dumpster diver, Eighner is able to tell us what is ok to eat and have and what is not ok for your health. His essay starts by uttering some guidelines of what is and is not safe to eat. “Eating safely from the dumpsters involves three principles: using common sense for evaluating the food, knowing the dumpsters of the given areas and always ask, “Why was this discarded?” (Eighner 714).
Reading the story “On dumpster diving” by Lars Eighner it made me feel grateful for my materialistic things, because I would not want to experience dumpster diving to survive. Eighner has led me to question where I place my value. He has made me curious about what treasures could be found in dumpsters. Most of these items have lost their intrinsic value; however, they could hold great personal value. A can of food could mean a meal for someone in need. It has also made me wonder about what I throw away, and if someone has ever discovered what I’ve thrown away and used
Tracy and I sat down to prepare for our outing with my sister-in-law Shelly and her husband James, who were visiting from Kansas City. I must admit, I was a little skeptical about the thought of treasure hunting. James informed me that all we needed was a free membership with the website geocaching.com, and a hand held GPS unit or a GPS enabled smart phone. We then created an account and decided on a profile name. We were now ready to see what this treasure hunt was all about. We soon discovered it was a technology-driven game of hide and seek using global positioning satellites. Members are able to hide caches and log their coordinates for others to find. These hidden caches contain a log sheet for you to sign your profile name. Some cache containers are larger and contain “treasures” that you can trade for other items. Trackables are items that have special tracking codes so that you may track where they have been. Then there is the virtual cache, which is not a hidden object at all. These types of caches are usually historical landmarks or may just be places with an interesting view. To log these types of caches you must answer a question about the locale or post a picture of the specific landmark and post it to the website. Now that we had more of an idea of what we had gotten ourselves into, I was definitely more excited about the geocaching expedition that lay ahead.
Earlier up above, I had mentioned a wetsuit and leash to be a few accessories that can be of great use. Depending on what the weather is like, a wetsuit can keep one warm (“Beginners Surfing Equipment”). Thus, I will not obtain hypothermia and freeze to my death. I also made note that the leash can be seen as a safeguard, which is entirely true because it keeps the surfer and board connected to one another incase the surfer falls of the board and renders unconscious. Furthermore, a rash guard will also help to prevent a wound from appearing. Not only does it “act as a protective layer from board rash and abrasion”, but it also shields surfers from destructive UV rays (Belt). It is a two in one deal, considering that I will not have to wear too much sunscreen or worry about acquiring painful rashes. If I want to surf in the long run, then following these precautions would benefit myself very
Wartime England was a bad time for a holiday visit to the beaches. Most were heavily mined and cordoned off with barbed wire to prevent invasion forces from landing. However, North Devon was around the corner from the vulnerable English Channel and we were allowed on the vast sands of Westward Ho!
Conflict is not always something that can be easily overcome. When two groups have a similar goal to work for, many times the groups will find a way to work with the other group to finish the job. When faced with a task that requires people to work with another group they dislike it results in a successful solution.
I have selected one of the artifacts to talk about, the pet rock. I know that this artifact may seem silly or not even considered valued or an artifact to some, but it is. Gary Dahl had a sense of humor when creating this artifact. Yes, he may have just been an advertising executive to some, but in the 1970s he invented the Pet Rock. His invention is funny, brings joy and smiles to others, and is art. It has a purpose of being a pet, but also more than that. It can bring joy, happiness, humor, comfort, and much more to a person. That is why some may make fun of this artifact or Gary Dahl, but this invention was made with a sense of humor and sharing that with others in the world. Not only has the pet rock made Gary rich, but this artifact has

Submerged rocks and reefs are dangerous and common at some beaches. They exist at beaches where there is rugged coastline characterised by rocky cliffs, coves and sometimes visible reef formations that stick out of the water off shore. These areas are quite scenic and beautiful to explore however they have hazards to beachgoers in and out of the
Many, many years ago, a cave was in use, and many paintings, drawings, and engravings were put on the walls of the cave. About ten years ago, a man was diving in the Mediterranean and came across something that no one would ever think about finding. It was a prehistoric painted cave with an underwater entrance. It is known today as the Cosquer cave.
The police and some other people that you have never met but look upset, come knocking at someone's museum door and say, “ Do you have these stolen artifacts?”, ; does one A.) give them back to their rightful owner, or B.) keep the artifacts for one’s self, but remember these artifacts are the people's most prised positions. There are stolen/ lost artifacts all around in the world in museums; the people who made them from their bare hands may want the artifacts back, also their families may want those antiquities as keepsakes because it is their family heritage. These artifacts should be returned to the people who made them or their families. As one can see, these antiquities mean something to the people that are related to it.
Regardless of my lack of knowledge, I started to work on the geology collection by examining one small segment of the entire collection. The sample section of the collection contains several boxes of geological textbooks, maps, magazines, and several geological reports from the Department of Water and Power. One archaeological method I have learned from one of my previous archaeology classes is when archaeologists conduct their work in small areas or test pits in the archaeological site. I am applying this archaeological method to my geology collection sample because I can organize the geology collection into different categories and stacking the materials up into different piles. I stacked the geology textbooks and magazines into one pile, the DWP reports in another and continued organizing different geological materials in my small piles based on their similar physical attributes and written content. As I went through the small section of the geology collection, I realized that this collection belonged to an engineering geologist who worked for the DWP. I came up with that conclusion based on several geology textbooks and DWP memorandums I discovered while I was going through the sample
Ever since Sunset Beach has been officially opened to the public, there has been a drastic increase of tourists present. Television programs concluded that at least a thousand people visit the beach everyday. Reasons for their stay are that they feel comfortable with the environment that surrounds the beach front, people who are at the beach are joyous and numerous activities to enjoy, and the fresh scent of the sparkly waters, make the visitors feel calm and pleasurable. So I decided to take a trip there.
