Treasure hunting is an adventurous activity. Different people are involved in it for varying reasons. Some do it as a hobby or just for fun. Others do it to unravel some historical facts from something old they find.Others are simply in it for financial gains and economic value.Metals detectors are widely used in treasure hunting. Here are 3 sure steps to help you succeed in treasure hunting: 1. Make a plan There is an old adage that says, "Failing to plan is planning to fail". To succeed in treasure hunting activity, you need to outline the reasons and the goals you want to achieve.State clear objectives and the mission and the vision of doing the activity. If your goal is to make money, your search may include finding valuable items like, …show more content…
One requires appropriate types of equipment like metal detectors to be able to locate a treasure. Invest in a good metal detector with features that will detect your target treasure. One also need to be appropriately dressed for the tasks they will perform. Metal detecting may require performing tasks such as bending on the ground, getting into the water and muddy places, walking through thick bushes, digging holes among others. Having the right attires and proper clothes to handle such tasks is imperative. It also crucial to carry a map and a compass especially if you intend to go to areas you are not familiar with. Having a phone or a means of communication is also vital.Other important tools of treasure hunting are for digging if you intend to dig the ground.Get a good digging knife for the task.Carrying the treasures found is also essential. You need to have a safe place where you put your finds. You can carry a belt pouch that has two or more pockets.Carry tools for cleaning your finds. A brush, a towel, and water to wipe them. Be careful not to use chemicals as some metals can react to them. Avoid cleaning what you are not sure of.Plan and carry such things as first aid kit, bugs spray, sunscreen, pocket knife, battery charger, whistle, delicate treasures case, coin field guide among other tools used in treasure hunting
Archaeology is a continuously evolving field where there is a constant stream of new branches and excavation methods. Due to the influx of new technologies and innovations in recent decades, archaeologists have been able to excavate previously inaccessible areas. For example, new diving equipment and tools such as proton magnetometers, side-scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, and miniature submarines have allowed archaeologists to dive into the deep depths of the ocean. As a result, the branch of underwater archaeology was created to search for shipwrecks and other artifacts on the ocean floor. Underwater archaeology’s role has increased in recent years as it allows archaeologists to more accurately interpret the past by supplementing information gained through traditional land excavations.
After they have a clear understanding of the situation, they find out how this event took place. After they find out about this, the most important part comes, and that is finding out who was responsible for the crime. Searching is an extremely important part of investigation as it gives an extremely clear picture of what has happened (Weiss & Gross, 2000). 2. What is the difference between a..
While looking through the book list I was mainly looking for a title that really got my attention and would be a good read. With this goal in mind I really thought that “From a Watery Grave: The Discovery and Excavation of La Salle’s Shipwreck, La Belle” fit that criteria. While reading it I gained a lot of insight on how you go about excavating a sunken ship. The book is about the excavation of the explorer Robert Cavelier, Sieur de La Salle ship the La Belle. The ship slammed in the Texas bay by gale winds and storm surges, La Belle finally slipped beneath the water and sank, where it would remain for over 300 years until it was finally found by the Texas Historical Commission archaeologists. It was assumed that Robert Cavelier was looking to establish a colony in the New World. I believe if they had landed where they wanted to, they would have been able to colonize there with the cargo they had arrived with. To see if this would have been able to achieve I must take a closer look at the materials that they brought with them on their voyage.
Before entering into the woods you must know how to get out. It is very easy to get lost because a lot of things look the same once you begin walking around. Knowing how to read a compass can be crucial when you enter an area your unfamiliar with. This will allow you to explore many different parts of the woods knowing u always know how to get out. When exploring the woods there are many signs you want to look for depending on what species you are hunting. For
I have been bow hunting since I was about 8 years old. I am going to go over the basic steps and necessary equipment needed to start becoming a successful bow hunter. Some of the key things you will need during this are a decent set of camouflage, a compound hunting bow and a place to hunt. Despite the time it takes to be successful; bow hunting can be very rewarding.
One of the many ways Jim Hawkins tries to find the treasure is leaving his crew members to explore the island and try to find the treasure on his own. “I was so pleased at having given the slip to Long John, that I began to enjoy myself and look around me with some interest on the strange land that I was in.” (pg 59). Leaving Long John and the rest of his crew has made his journey easier and more relaxing. “I now felt for the first time the joy of exploration.”(pg 59). When faced with danger he was going to call help for from Long John his crew but his fear of Long John and his hunger to try to find the treasure allows him to stick with his plan. “I was within an ace of calling for help. But the mere fact that ...
November 2011, the first year I got to go hunting with my dad. I got excited for this year because I became old enough to shoot my first deer with my dad in the hunting stand. I thrived to get my first buck all through November (SV). The night before opening day my dad and I usually go out to chat with my uncles and tell hunting stories at our shack. My uncles always tell old stories of when they got their first buck, and I became nervous knowing I might have a chance at one tomorrow. We drove home that night and I didn't get much sleep at all because I had constant excitement flowing through my body knowing I get to go on my first hunt tomorrow.
Many have claimed to have found the treasure over the past 50 years and all have proved to be false alarms. However, during the continuous searches and investigations, some fragments of the Amber Room were found. One of the clues came in 1997 when German Police caught the son of
1. After reading The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt, I was left with a new, refreshed understanding about the world around me. The book made me consider how my approach to forming opinions about people is flawed. Sometimes I unconsciously make conclusions based on little or no information about someone, which in turn leads to snap judgments about that person. I find myself too busy deciding what type of person I think they are, instead of seeking out that person’s story. It is unfair to label someone as one way or another, based solely on a fleeting interaction with him or her. The Goldfinch had a strong influence on me by reminding me that a quickness to judge people before I know their whole story is not compassionate.
From the perspective of economy, ecology, and environmental conservation, hunting is very important. Hunting is necessary to protect agriculture and the environment from animal pest or overpopulation. For example, wild boars tear up many farmers land causing many problems as well with the deer population growing eating away farmer’s resources. Also with the growth of white tail deer are damaging every landscape east of the Mississippi river. Unfortunately, the harm is very overlooked, and accepted as somehow “natural”. Over the last 30 years higher dear populations have made a more negative impact due to climate change. (“Is Hunting a Good Thing?”) Hunting was legalized in 1993 to help bring overabundant wild animal populations down. The legalization
Many people believe that once archaeologists make a discovery, the discovery goes to a museum and the archaeologist`s job is done. Although this is the popular belief and often-depicted on T.V and movies such as Indiana Jones, this could not be further from the truth. Once an archaeologist discovers a body. The archaeologist must investigate the biological remains in order make inferences about antiquity, subsistence and settlement patterns, diet, social and political life, and ideology.
The artifact record keeping strategies and practices of archaeologists and excavators can be compared to modern day bookkeeping as every artifact has to be journalized and posted to some sort of a ledger as every transaction in accounting has to be analyzed, then journalized and posted to a ledger.
Based on those statements, archaeology is not what is seen in the movies. " ...'practical archaeology' is a process of many stages, from data gathering and initial field survey to taking a decision to dig (or not to dig), analyzing finds, reporting the results, pinning down dates, conducting specialized research and reporting the ...
After archaeologists research an area and believe that they found a site that shows potential, the first step is to start to excavate in order to reach the objects or remains that the earth might contain. Excavation explores what lies under the surface and archaeologists usually divide their sites in gridded tranches. The objective is to make sure that everything they dig can be recorded, sampled, and further analyzed. This process is very tedious and lengthy. It involves digging down a centimeter at a time through sometimes difficult toil or for longer periods through meters of densely packed soil. The point of excavating is to look into time from a backward perspective and to examine a site at various time periods. Deeper an archaeologist will go, more periods he might discover. A few centimeters may uncover recent events, whereas a meter or several can go back centuries or even
The first step used in excavation is surveying the remote area; it is the controlled exploration of what is to be found underneath the ground. Excavation is usually uses techniques such as making grids of the trenches and shovel testing. Shovel testing it is a standardized test that archeologists use to test their research in a real world setting. Shovel test pits or STPs are small holes dug on a grid that allow archeologists to pick up artifact samples and stratigraph data across large areas of land. Stratigraphy is results based on what geologists and archeologists get using a process where layers of soil and debris are laid down on top of one another over time. An STP survey is a great method for understanding and recognizing important shifts in the patterns of human activity. STP was used in instructive ways enslaved people were working and living throughout the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. Shovel test pits are a method used by archeologists that can cover an area quickly and are less invasive (shovel test pit methods pg.1). Culture-historical archeology will be a step used in analyzing artifacts and materials found in excavation and from doing shovel testing. Archaeological excavation aims to identify any evidence of past human activity that may be buried below ground at any given site. This evidence usually consists of features, such as buried soil layers, rubbish pits, ditches, graves or parts of former buildings such as postholes, wall foundations and floor surfaces and the finds material that has ended up within the features. Although some finds will have been deliberately buried, such as grave goods or treasure hoards, most of the finds material found by archaeologists is the discarded rubbish from the activities of everyday life and work in a settlement. Due to the small size of a Test Pit you might need a bit of luck to find a proper archaeological feature such as a pit or building
