Framework for Analysis For any new school principal, the human relations and communication must be a priority to successfully establish a culture of respect and collaborative learning environment. Any new principal should follow the guidelines of Miles and Frank (2008) when they stated, Each day we see school leaders succeed despite these odds. They do this by identifying their most pressing student needs and aligning all available people, time, and money to purposefully address them. As Ms. Zola found out what was the situation and her task, she listed each one with a set of specific actions needed to be completed before she could see results. Before she hired anyone, she would contact the district assistant superintendent for support on the learning of hiring policies and procedures. Moreover, she decided to consult the faculty before deciding if she should hire the third-grade teacher as the technology resource or to hire someone from outside the school. By including the faculty in the decision-making process, she was demonstrating her ability to create an inclusive and collaborative school culture. Tomlinson and Allan (2000) listed the qualities of a leader for change. One of those qualities is describe as, “working for teachers and administrators to determine their needs related to the change process, and responding effectively and efficiently” (p. 41). The new principal decided to include her faculty in the decision-making process of hiring the needed personnel. Ms. Zola new that there was a situation that required a better communication method. She prioritized to meet with each faculty and staff member in the first two months of her appointment. She demonstrated a deep understanding on the importance of the creation of community ties that would ensure that her faculty will be willing to change their mindsets for her and the students’
