137 Words1 Page

Many people lose hope in tough situations. They think all is lost when they do not get something the first time, but there is always hope even in the worst situations. Eve Bunting demonstrates this theme of finding hope in a bad situation with her short story, “Fly Away Home”. Andrew doesn’t lose hope because, he sees a brown bird that shows him hope. He also saves money in his shoe hoping it will help. In the beginning of this story, Andrew sees a bird struggle to get out of the main terminal of the airport and, he tells the little brown bird to keep trying. When the little bird gets out of the main terminal it flew away home and he states he knew it was singing. Meaning he kept trying and he made it through.
