Dory in the Real world Copious amount of people knows about the powerful inspiring film Finding dory. In actuality, Finding dory is the by-product of the movie Finding Nemo; which was initially in theaters thirteen years beforehand. Finding dory is what Kim Edwards expresses in her article. “far more than a subpar cash-grabbing sequel to a beloved family classic, the latest from Pixar provides myriad opportunities to help young viewers reflect on such important issues as disability, difference, family and belonging.” Finding dory is the definition of different. The animation sets forth an adventure worth a lifetime. In Seger’s essay, she states “a hero begins as nonhero; innocent, young, simple, or humble” (336). She is first seen when the sea lions call the flock of loon birds. They ask Becky to give Marlin and Nemo a ride to quarantine, but not before Marlin has to imprint on her by looking into one of her eyes. In Evely’s article, she describes Becky being surprising, “competent and intelligent ally worthy of Marlin's trust.” She has a visible deformity, unusual body marks, and mental illness. She is one of the only animals besides one other that can’t talk. While all the other loon bird appears well groomed; Becky has all her feathers popping out of weird places. She is not well groomed like the others she sticks out. Evely’s article she expressed, “both Becky the loon and Gerald the sea lion are underestimated and exploited, based on the presumption that they are slow, confused or inept because of their misaligned eyes and bedraggled and disoriented looks.” In the movie, they are the only characters that don’t talk, and they both have the unfortunate problem of not being the best of looking. Gerald is a sea lion with some unpleasant features, and he is treated shamelessly by the other sea lions. Gerald is seen as ugly. He was given a unibrow, and he doesn’t talk while all the other animals do. The only other animal that doesn’t talk is Becky the loon bird. All Gerald wants is to be on the rock with the other sea lions, but he just gets barked off and, he gets the last laugh at the final post-credits when we see him sneaking on top of the rock the others tried to keep him off
