Final Integration Paper
Self-knowledge
Self-Knowledge allows one to understand clearly one’s personality, values, philosophy, and beliefs. Such knowledge enables you to make changes in your personality that can improve the direction in our life and lead us to success in our career and life choices.
This class encourages my discovery of self awareness in focusing my attention on potential, skill, or a goal that I was not aware of before. Because we are all different in the way we react to things, learn, and synthesize information. This course created a safe conducive place to spend time in self-reflection to gain a better insight into oneself.
Self awareness is important for career and life goals because we would have a better

For example, if you have an introverted personality, you are likely to experience more stress in a sales position than a highly extroverted person. Therefore, if you are highly introverted, you can learn skills to manage with the demands of a sales position, or maybe you should find a position that is more compatible with your personality. You can only make this assessment if you are aware of your personality type.
After taking this class, I have a sure understanding who I am and how I can adapt to new environments. In summary, my current knowledge of myself is I am a person who loves interacting with others. I like to learn from others around me. I chose to surround myself with those who are goal oriented. When I make plans I always see them through. I take action on what I believe is right. I appreciate constructive criticisms and look forward to new learning. I would like to always carry these traits with me in my career and life.

Before this class I was indecisive how to continue my education. For a while I considered the option of getting Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification. I wrestle with the certification idea. After several deliberations, I quickly realized carrying on through this path was not my calling in life.
How are you different?
In the words of E. E. Cummings "To be nobody but yourself—in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else—means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting." I now realized like I have been fighting all my life to be nobody but myself. Looking back, I always had a knack for wanting to help others. I have come to understand I must pursue my own path. After careful deliberation, I am confident that public service is the right career for me.
I have detected in myself a certain compassion and innate desire to help others. Ever since my childhood, I was that student who always volunteers as the teacher helper. I would be in charge of distributing and collecting different assignments through the day. Later, in high school I was a peer counselor for three years from sophomore though senior year. In college, I joined the Leadership Academy, which involves twenty hours of community service to complete the
The idea of self-discovery surrounds each and every one of us. It can be the understanding of our own abilities and feelings, or simply the acquisition of knowledge that can be applied for greater use. Self-discovery is crucial in determining the path we take in our lives and the choices we make that help us reach the end goal. As a society that is constantly changing and innovating, self-discovery aids in the process of learning and growing to better those around us and our own interests. Self-discovery enables us to pursue the new found interests and impacts the decisions we make in our lives.
We are not born knowing everything about ourselves; it is a daily learning process. Some live their lives vicariously through others, while some yearn to learn themselves. So, with all this being said, how do you see yourself?
Plenty of people receive satisfaction from assisting other people. A person who enjoys helping others may also enjoy a career within public service. Careers of public service are jobs carried out for the benefit of the community and others. To a man seeking such a career, the novel For Whom the Bell Tolls by Ernest Hemingway would be inspirational. Within the novel, the American protagonist, Robert Jordan, is tasked with exploding a bridge behind enemy lines to help the Republicans during the Spanish Civil War.
"To be self aware is to be conscious of one's character, including beliefs, values, qualities, strengths and limitation. It is about knowing oneself" (Burnard 1992).
Throughout the beginning of this semester I have looked at how individuals behave within business organizations. Through various exercises and results, I have found a number of patterns within my behavior and interests. I have become aware what interests me, and a number of skills/abilities I was oblivious I had. This reflection and in class exercises has allowed me to expand my skills, abilities, and behaviors, well fitting them into prospective future employment.
In this report, I will reflect on my professional development throughout this module, from when I started in September, to now. According to Beausaert et al. (2011), ‘the art of self-evaluation is an integral element of reflection and involves critical insight into understanding one 's strengths and limitations’. Therefore, my aim is to identify my learning needs and to recognise my personal skills and capabilities, as well as identifying areas of my skill set that need to be refreshed or extended to stand out in the competitive job market. By doing this, I hope to demonstrate knowledge of the skills that I have gained during this module.
As we reviewed the self awareness module this past week, it was very interesting to see how the self assessments provided the class with information about their own personal human behaviors. I was aware of most of the information provided but there were some tendencies I was surprised to find that fitted my character. It was good to be reminded of the things I had forgotten about myself. Learning about my individuality and how I interact and respond to others based on my traits, personality and behavior has been an awakening experience. It is also great to know that I can work on areas that need improvement to become a more balanced person to better assist my subordinates, teams and organizations.
I understand my styles and behaviors better now. Too bad I didn’t take this course earlier in life. Understanding myself will help me understand other people better I believe. That will be helpful concidering the profession I intend to have.
As an educated professional in my community, I would like to make a contribution to society and my community. My background in hours of community service has prepared me for this and shown me its value.
I realised that self-awareness is important in achieving self-improvement. The more an individual understands themselves, the better he or she is at adapting life changes that is according to their needs. The more self-aware we are, it improves the level of confidence we have on oneselves. This can be achieved through greater exposure, thus widens one’s experiences and will be more likely be more accepting of others. Self-awareness will also benefit us to be more accurate in accessing
Understanding yourself will help immensely in achieving your set goals.” This is because it will help you know what you are capable of and what you would have to delegate to others to do. Managing yourself depends on knowing yourself, so that you can build performance on the characteristics that support your achievement. Most people assume that they know what they're good at and what they're not good at and that these constitute their strengths and weaknesses. Concentrate on your strength and don’t try to build performance on your weakness, but rather try managing your weakness” (Komives, 2007) .Understanding yourself entails knowing your values that guides your action, because beliefs shape our actions. When you are known for a solid value system based on integrity ...
Then the next part of life is spent shedding the ideas that do not connect to you and what you represent as a person. I think the best contribution a person makes to this world is finding themselves and understanding their own personal goals and values. By being your authentic-self, you can attract the people that are good for you, and repel those who are not. It is important to remember that our authentic self are not the roles in life we hold, but the roles and ideas that make us who we are. To display my authentic self and belief, I could not stray away from expressing the fact that I am a believer in the law of attraction as well as many aspects of astrology.
In the end, no matter what may be said about me, I know that I am some what of an abstract project. I continue to grow everyday and discover new factors that define me. I know what I stand for. I love myself, and the people around me. They don't create me, or make me who I am, but they do help be define myself
I am sentimental, out-going, indecisive, understanding, curious, naive, lazy, and young. I want to be ... , well a lot of things, and growing is discovering what they are. I feel people cannot see the potential within, although there is no one to blame but myself. I look to others for approval instead of to myself. I aim to please; it leads to approval. I don’t like to discuss my faults; I pity myself.
According to the study of this course, I have learned many useful management skills and I feel like these skills will be applied to my future career development. When working on the self- assessment tests, I found myself fall into the category of the ISTJ personality types, which as illustrated by Myers Briggs, is the type of personality that is conscientious, considerate, and helpful. Personality traits such as honest, dutiful, practical and responsible are my strengths; personality traits such as stubborn, insensitive and poor communication skill are my weaknesses. Related to the knowledge I have learned in the course I believe both strengths and weakness will have influence to my future career development. In this reflection paper, I will demonstrate the strengths and weaknesses that may place the most influence on my way of success.
