Lisa Cholodenko grew up in Los Angeles and she began her film careers working as an assistant editor; however, she then moved to New York and earned an MFA in screenwriting and direction at the Columbia University School of arts. At Columbia University School of Arts, Cholodenko filmed her first short movie Dinner Party. Besides being a director, Lisa Cholodenko also was a film professor at Columbia University, an advisor and is currently on the Board of Governs of Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science. It was surprising to be able to find out how active Cholodenko is in the film industry and in the university she attended. This portrays how committed Cholodenko is to creating successful movies and to be a part of others film victory.
Auteurism is a term first coined by Francois Truffaut to describe the mark of a film director on his films. A director can be considered an auteur if about five of his film depict a certain style that is definitely his own. In other words, much like one can look at a painting and tell if it is a Monet, a Renoir, or a Degas, if a film director is an auteur, one can look at his film and tell by style and recurring themes that it was made by a certain director. In auteur films, the director is many times what brings an audience to the theater, instead of the actors or storyline. I am going to take a look at three of the most noted auteurs: Frederico Fellini, Satyajit Ray, and Alfred Hitchcock.
The movie Teach was a brilliant, emotional movie that I was in no way expecting. It is a year-in-the-life kind of documentary about teachers and what they go through. It is a movie I can see myself going back to watch time and time again to remind myself just why on Earth I have decided to put myself through the stress of an education major. Teach gave us insight on four teachers who had to learn to adapt and change to meet the needs of their students and still build the relationship they needed to have. None of the teachers were perfect, but then again, there is no such thing as a perfect teacher. “The teacher is the one who gets the most out of the lessons, and the true teacher is the learner.” Elbert Hubbard. The most important thing about

With this short but very interesting and informative class I have just scratched the surface of the what it takes to make a full fleged film. It takes much more than I had presumed to make a movie in Hollywood. The number of people that it takes to make a minute of a movie let alone the entire movie was astonishing to me. There are many things that it takes to start making a movie but without an idea of some sort there is no movie to be made.
Here I will list the course concepts that relate to my program or what I have said in the program.
The college initiated an array of courses for the students who lack practical knowledge and real world
This step would focus on how you would shoot the scenes, choose the right scenes, and what application to use in editing. You need to direct the film and make sure that the script lines are properly performed by the actors. Try to get a help of other videographers, ask for tips regarding about the suitable angles in your script lines. After shooting all of the scenes, watch all of it and try to mend all the ones that would really fit with each other. You should also use video editors that are known for great interface and features. Some examples of these are ADOBE Premiere Pro, Cyberlink PowerDirector, and Windows Movie Maker.
During the pre-production phase, digital tools and technology have transformed the script writing process by making use of digital tools and the internet. The internet is being used by scriptwriters to forward their scripts to directors and potential cast members but it also caters for peer reviews by way of online forums. There has been a significant increase in the last decade in the use of digital video cameras for low-budget film shooting along with higher definition vide...
For the chosen brief, a two minutes opening scene and a title sequence are done for a TV programme named “Superhero High School”, along with a teaser ad campaign for the show to generate discussion before the premier. Superhero High School is an action, dramatic, sci-fi comedy TV series following a group of students in a school for individuals with special abnormal abilities struggling to maintain the balance between precarious friendships, young loves and saving chaotic world. The show is targeted toward a relatively young demographic between 15 and 35 and will be suitable for all ages. To satisfy Silver Lining Production’s ideology, the text is trying to push the boundaries of the format through hybridisation of multiple genres, including documentary.
Perhaps the strongest foundation for media education rests in the fact that increased awareness of media transforms students from passive to active participants in society. Learners must be offered hands-on application opportunities to increase their own knowledge and enjoyment of the media. The integration of formal media analysis with media production is an essential constituent of media literacy. Creative ventures, such as television or radio production, the development of a rock video or song, photography classes, script-writing, web-page development, or hypertext projects should be made available for students' participation and perusal. Students must be exposed to various forms of communication before they can recognize logical disparities, determine the strength of an argument, evaluate mass media, and actively join our democratic society as partners.
Offering the unique ability to visually and audibly convey a story, films remain a cornerstone in modern society. Combined with a viewer’s desire to escape the everyday parameters of life, and the excitement of enthralling themselves deep into another world, many people enjoy what films stand to offer. With the rising popularity of films across the world, the amount of film makers increases every day. Many technological innovations mark the advancement of film making, but the essential process remains the same. Pre-production accounts for everything taken place before any shooting occurs, followed by the actual production of the film, post-production will then consist of piecing the film together, and finally the film must reach an audience. Each step of this process contributes to the final product, and does so in a unique right. The process of film making will now start chronologically, stemming from the idea of the story, producing that story into a film, editing that footage together, and finally delivering that story to its viewers.
Before I had attended this module, my biggest aim was to understand how we communicate with each other and how we adapt our speech to fit the situation we are in. As I am combining Communication, Media and Culture with Film Studies, I wanted this module to help me build my confidence so that in the future, I can pitch my film ideas confidently. It was important for me to develop my communication skills as this would enable me to express myself clearly and concisely.
