Although some jobs only require simple abilities that most workers learn at childhood, as some jobs hinge on field-specific work done previously and others involve seeking out guidance from general history, understanding the past is necessary, sometimes crucial, for achieving success in the majority of professions. In a world where even third-world countries have workers employed in the manufacturing and service sector of the economy, jobs like waiting tables, bellhops, and machine operators are growing in number. These jobs entail ‘soft-skills,’ such as communication and writing, or simple abilities like holding doors open. These things are typically learned throughout childhood and are so elementary that even a child could do these jobs well! As basic as they are, employees successfully and correctly complete their tasks, even without knowing the history of waiting tables or when the machine being operate on was invented.

Carr also noted that automation in other fields can dull the skills of those who rely upon it. He pointed out the scenario of radiologist who do not scrutinize the areas that are not highlighted by the computer software, thereby possibly missing an opportunity to find an early tumor. Whether it is gender or automation, roles change. However, we must not allow our skills to be lost in the process. Hands-on training and keeping skills fresh are an important part of life.

It may go unseen physically, but the emotional effects it produces last a lifetime, and can continue on for generations to come.
History is a very important part of our lives. When we learn about the past, we learn
In the book Outliers, and in the articles, “Meaningful Work”, “Do, Just, Do: A Journey to Meaningful, Satisfying work”, and “ You Wont Find Meaningful work Looking Outside Yourself”, The authors Malcolm Gladwell, Michael F. “Those who don’t know history are doomed to repeat it.” This famous quote from Edmund Burke is one that many of us are familiar with. In spite of this, many people disregard history, branding it as unimportant or irrelevant to modern-day situations. However, history is actually a quite important subject with a myriad of lessons to be learned for anybody to apply now and in the future. Additionally, history gives us much needed information about our past, keeping us from forgetting why our nations became the way they are. It allows us to draw parallels between modern events and past events to collect our best judgment and gives us the important knowledge of the origin of our modern world, giving extra credibility
In the same way as knowledge of the past helps to improve computers, it also improves the quality of life for mankind. Knowledge of our past helps us to see how humans react and deal with situations. this allows us to take preventative measures. There was a time when mankind was always at war with each other. Everyone was fighting to take each others land, food, and technology. Since then the United Nations have been created to prevent such types of pointless wars and now there are police which enforce the law and a government in which power lies in the people. There have been many bad times for humans in all parts of the world throughout history. There have been big and small wars with huge death tolls, small battles, famines, depressions, slavery and countless others events which could have been prevented if we had known what the outcome would be. Just as a person learns from their mistakes, knowledge of our history helps us to learn from our mistakes giving us insight into the future. Many events that have happened in our past no longer plague the world today. Slavery used to be prevalent ...
History is a story told over time. It is a way of recreating the past so it can be studied in the present and re-interpreted for future generations. Since humans are the sole beneficiaries of history, it is important for us to know what the purpose of history is and how historians include their own perspective concerning historical events. The purpose and perspective of history is vital in order for individuals to realise how it would be almost impossible for us to live out our lives effectively if we had no knowledge of the past. Also, in order to gain a sound knowledge of the past, we have to understand the political, social and cultural aspects of the times we are studying.
Meaning of the Term “Competency” Competency has its origins in the Latin word 'competentia' which means is authoritative to judge as well as ―has the right to speak‖ (Caupin et al., 2006: 9). The English dictionary defines the word ‘competence’ as the state of being suitably sufficient or fit. Trying to draw a fine line between the words such as proficiency, capability, capacity, competence, competency/ competencies is even more difficult and creates confusion (see examples in Byham & Moyer, 2000; Cooper, 2000; Mirabile, 1997). Those who invested efforts in investigativing competency are immediately struck by the lack of uniform definitions, compositions, and methodologies which, of course, lead to misunderstanding, wandering,

When most people think about history they remember a boring class they took in school a long time ago, they recall memorizing important dates, taking map tests, and falling asleep while listening to a lecture. The truth is that history really is an important subject to be teaching students. History is more than just some lecture you receive in class, history lets us look back, see the good things and the bad things, it allows us to learn from our mistakes and prevent such mistakes from happening in the future. Things that happened in the past are still changing things that are happening today. History is needed for everyone, from government leaders down to individuals; everyone has learned one thing or another from history at some point in their life.
