In this task we had to show our ability to control ‘Depth of Field’ with aperture controls. We first had to look for photos that catch our attention and plan out how we will take our own photos inspired by the photos we found through google and Pinterest. After we planned that out and had a good idea of what we would take a photo of, how we were going to take it, where we would take it and when. Then we were ready to take out some cameras and get started. For my long depth of field photos, I wanted to take one of the beach and one of lane poole in Dwellingup. I was able to take photos for both but the photos from lane poole didn’t come out he way I wanted them to from the start. I wasn’t able to achieve the look I was going for and so I decided …show more content…
I decided to try a taking a shot of water washing up on the sand along the shore instead of out towards the horizon of the ocean. The gradient from the sunset made a great mix of blue, orange and yellow in the background. I did have to get into the water a bit and take the shot from there so that I can get more of the water without taking away the long grass growing further back on the shore. I then had to think about how I would take my short depth of field photos. Knowing that I was going down to Dwellingup I decided I’d take photos of the rocks there. I waited for the sun to go down a bit instead of taking photos mid-day when the sun was too harsh. I took many photos of different areas of Dwellingup, looking for a good group of rocks to take photos of. I finally settled for a shot of the rocks with water captured in the holes and rushing water in the background that is out of focus. My second short depth of field photo was of a fallen tree that wasn’t fresh and had already gone a bit dry and old on the outside. It had so much texture but not so much brown, instead it was really grey and ashy looking. There is a bit of a diagonal line across the photo where the tree was in focus, whereas the front and back of the tree was left a blur and same for the branches in the
As I looked out the window of the restaurant, I could see the sun bouncing off the sparkling water below. Boats and other water craft scatter the water as well as people on water-skis and inner tubes. The picturesque view makes life seem so much better and just looking at the river makes a person calmer. The scene just described is the view from the window of a restaurant called Sophia in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and the corresponding river is the mighty Mississippi. Although Minnesota is the land of 10,000 lakes, this scene could be found right here in the valley of Phoenix. The way this is possible is through the Rio Salado Project.
PEOPLE: Who is in the picture? Investigate all aspects of the photograph. If no people are in the picture, use this space to research people who were involved in the events that took place in the location / time of your photograph.
This is a good photograph because it shows the penguins in their natural habitat. The photograph is very clear, the mountains in the back and the divide between underwater and above water, up close, is focused. I selected this photograph because I love penguins and I thought the colors of the photographs were alluring. The difference between the colors caught my attention because of the dark corners of the the ocean and clouds that add an illusion of mystery and because of the bright center of the ocean and iceberg with the penguins above it. Overall the photograph made me question what is in the deep, dark parts of the ocean and made me more aware of our abundant knowledge of what is above because of natural
Mr. Vickers created this work by using oil paint on a canvas. His strokes follow the luminist style of hidden strokes with mixed hues. The subject is stated obviously in the title as the work is about the serene and beautiful view of the River Severn as it continues towards a mountainous backdrop and eventually disappears.
This trend also found roots in the emergence of photographic technology, originally developed in the early 1800’s and advanced continuously until the present. During this time, artists and photographers suddenly found that they could much more easily captur...
This method is one that has helped tremendously in this writer 's ability to take pictures.
“By combining two lenses ground to segments of arcs of different radii a reasonable flatness of field could be obtained. And by using lenses of different focal lengths, the angle of view could be made narrow for portraiture and wide of landscape work” (Newhall 9).
The human eye’s ability to view focused images of both nearby and distant objects is dependent upon its capacity to accommodate. When you want to look at something nearby, the lens in your eye assumes a large curvature, resulting in a shorter focal length. Conversely, your lens becomes flatter in shape and takes on a longer focal length when you want to look at a distant object. Accommodation is key in allowing your eyes to use its muscles to change focal lengths in order to see objects at a variety of distances. When you lose the ability to accommodate, the lenses in your eyes become locked to focus on either near or far away objects. In the case of nearsighted individuals, light entering the eye can only focus on objects nearby. As a result, distant objects appear blurry because light is focused in front of the retina, or the light-sensitive tissue layer at the back of the eye, instead of directly on it.
It was important to have light and dark dirt and marks running through the pictures with a really gentle undulation between pale yellows, greens, dark blues, and light flares. In some cases we also went so far as to create digital doubles for some characters. In one shot, the spiked heels of a stripper and the skin of her backside were built in 3D, allowing us to pan past material that had only been captured in a single still shot.
4. What to Cut (two visuals of coast shot – one cut and one not)
My Pond an escape, a release, an excursion from normal day to day activities. The Pond is no more than 3/10ths by 1/10th of a mile in dimensions. It is set back among luscious green and yellow pine and maple trees and surrounded by regularly mowed green grass. The mixes of green shades are similar to a young child's drawing using 5 different bright green and yellow markers. You can spend many hours simply thinking on top of a rock protruding from the ground towards the east side of the Pond. A thinking rock, as you could sit next to the pond for as long as you can remember.
To start off my discussion about inequality in the world I asked my sister four questions. 1) What is your American Dream? 2) Do you think there is an exit for children who live in poverty? 3) What is your idea of “makin it”? 4) As a citizen what do you feel you can do to help? I wanted to get an idea of her overall thought before telling her the brutal truth if she doesn’t already know.
The waves roll onto white sand beaches and vanishes into non-existence, and another is born and tumbles towards the shore. The setting sun dyes the western sky bright red. People are laughing, talking, and embracing under sunset. I can feel that the warm sand is squished through my toes. The weather is nice. There is not a speck of cloud to be seen in the sky. The sky seems a watercolor painting, mixing red, blue, purple, and etc. I sometimes perceive the foamy mist from ocean sprays my face very lightly as if it is the touch of a soft feather. Through various sounds, I can hear the cry of seagulls circling overhead, and gives the part of Santa Monica beach fascinating character of its own. As time passes, I senses the fresh and gentle breeze. When I close my eyes, then I have the feeling of I sitting alone on the broad sandy beach for a moment. I open my eyes again. The colors swirl together in muddled mass over the sky. The sky turns into blue violet, and the scenery around me is added colorful artificial light. lIt is the most beautiful sight I think and my favorite time. The children frolicking on the
