Demonstration Speech They say a picture is worth a thousand words and can tell a thousand tales. Just what exactly is this saying? (Visual of a bad snap shot… finger in shot) Let us take a minute to decipher this tale… Maybe the photographer believes his or her finger to be of more importance than the subject, or maybe they do not know that what you see when looking through most cameras is not what you get. This is just one of many common photography mistakes made in the pursuit of immortalizing life. Whether it is snap shots of the kids, cuddly photos of family pets, scenic vistas from vacations, or even a serious interest in the photographic process itself, everyone takes pictures. I am here today to help you wade through the mazes of equipment and composition, hopefully showing you how to make better pictures. Before you can make a picture, you have to have a camera. Some of you already have a camera, in which case I will be showing you ways to use your camera more effectively. Others may want a new camera, or you may not have a camera at all. Before you can truly shop for a camera, you need to know what you need. The equipment that you need is dependent on what you want to do and how often you think you will be doing it. It you are looking for something to take vacation pictures, you probably do not go often enough to invest a lot of equipment in a camera. Something like this throw away camera (visual) will cost about $5 to $8 a piece, can take excellent pictures, is already loaded with film, and can come with such features as water proofing and flash. You simply un-wrap it, point and click. When you are done, you just drop the whole thing off for processing. The downside of this option is that it ... ... middle of paper ... ...e shot) 4. Whatever equipment you use, with good lighting and attention to such details as film type and speed, distance from subject, rule of thirds, and an eye for what you want, you can make beautiful photos that you and yours will cherish for generations to come.
that the camera is not more than an eye. It does not think. Any connection with judging, choosing, arranging, including, excluding, and snapping has to be with the photographer.”
...el through time and show newer generations of the events of the past and the rich history of a particular country. With the use of all the technology over the years, photography has now become a major part of everyday life and the photographer behind the camera.
Cameras go way back to the year 1879, and have advanced greatly throughout the years. They used to be huge and bulky with all kinds of attachments and stands. Now they are so small and thin that they are put in everyday items that we use, for instance, cell phones and laptops. Backs then cameras were less than $40 and they were made with glass that was 6.5 by 8.5 inches thick (Patti). Now in this time of age, cameras can go from a few hundred bucks to thousands of dollars depending on the camera, and they are much smaller with clearer pictures now. In 1912 Kodak came out with the Vest Pocket camera, which sold for only six dollars. It had a glass lens of 2 1/4 by 3 1/4 inches thick, which is much
This trend also found roots in the emergence of photographic technology, originally developed in the early 1800’s and advanced continuously until the present. During this time, artists and photographers suddenly found that they could much more easily captur...
The rise of photography began in the early 1830’s in France, and wasn’t very popular as most artists preferred a paintbrush and canvas to a new contraption that wasn’t popular and wasn’t manufactured locally or globally yet and that was fairly expensive to try to produce, and since this time it has been debated if photography deserves its place in the art world. Through the late 1800’s and the early 1900’s it grew in popularity and throughout time photography went from being badly received to a new form of art though people around the world still debate if it is indeed “art”. Photography has a long history from the first camera obscura in the 18th century to the latest Nikon or Canon camera in the 21st century.
This method is one that has helped tremendously in this writer 's ability to take pictures.

Technology has propelled the film industry into investing in cheaper, more effective means of receiving the same cinematic look and quality while providing a streamlined process to easily manipulate the image in post production. R.C. Varenas, a writer and filmmaker tells us upfront that digital filmmaking is cheaper (Varenas). “What once cost $100,000 might now cost $10,000” (Varenas). The cost for a celluloid camera can vary from $100,000 to $500,000, whereas the cheapest digital cameras can start at $99 and go upward of $100,000. The price differences give different variations on quality and versatility of the cameras allowing anyone on a small budget to purchase or rent one. In a film, the limitations for the production come down to the budget; this extends to beyond filming it, but editing the image as well.
Since its inception, photography has been used to capture moments in time all around the world. This wonderful technology has existed since ancient times, and has only improved in recent history, changing society in the process.
This is an awesome camera, while it is pretty limited in its ability, what it does it does very well. I am going to try to use it to take photos of jewelery and watches for my clients who sell on Ebay.
When going for a walk, a person takes in the beauty around them. On this particular day, the refulgent sun is extra bright, making the sky a perfect blue. White, puffy clouds fill the sky, slowing moving at their own pace. The wind is peacefully calm, making the trees stand tall and proud. There is no humidity in the air. As this person walks down the road, they see a deer with her two fawns. The moment is absolutely beautiful. Moments like this happen only once in a great while, making us wanting to stay in the particular moment forever. Unfortunately, time moves on, but only if there were some way to capture the day’s magnificence. Thanks to Joseph Niépce, we can now capture these moments and others that take our breath away. The invention of the camera and its many makeovers has changed the art of photography.

What do you consider art? Paintings, sculptures, drawings, or maybe something else. I know, when I think of art, I think of photography. Photography Is used for business, science, manufacturing, art, recreational purposes, mass communication, and more. Photography is using light to do amazing things, and some people think of photography as a story that just needs to be told. Ansel Adams probably believed this. He said, “You don’t take a photograph, you make it.” Photography has a long interesting history, like the fact that the word photography is made up of two greek words, photos meaning ‘light’ and graphein which is ‘to draw’ ! Photography also has some complicated techniques to get a hang of taking good photos. Have you heard of the rule of thirds? Or do you know how a camera works? Well, that will all be explained. Maybe, by the end you will take up photography too. This essay will explore the history and types of cameras and the basic rules for taking photographs.
