For my field experience, I visited the See Art Orlando sculptures at Lake Eola. The mode of my field experience were the statues that I observed. The genre of See Art Orlando is contemporary and modern art. There are eight sculptures that were installed as part of See Art Orlando, but I only observed the ones that were near or on Lake Eola. Therefore, I ended up observing six of the eight unique sculptures. The names of the sculptures are Astrogenesis II, Take Flight, Global Convergence, Cedar of Lebanon, Union, The Muse of Discovery, Monument in Right Feet Major, and Centered. The statues were installed in 2013, and were funded by private donors.

When I first saw it, the sculpture stood out to me because it was so large and unique. I have never seen anything like this piece, but I love it! Cedar of Lebanon was sculpted by Jacob Harmeling. It is a three-story sculpture. The base of the sculpture is a tree that is made of sprinkler pipes as well as stainless steel canopies that give off the effect of being leaves. At night, you can see light come out of the middle of the sculpture. This sculpture was meant to represent the community’s strength, diversity, and elegance. The reason I find this piece so remarkable is because Harmeling managed to make a beautiful creation out of recycled materials such as sprinkler pipes. To outsiders, it looks magnificent and I personally would’ve never known that there are sprinkler pipes within. In addition, I think that this sculpture is very creative with it’s stainless steel canopies that are supposed to be leaves. Therefore, this sculpture is one of my favorites because I feel that you can’t find anything like it anywhere else, and I love the concept of using everyday items to create a

In regards to subject matter, both pieces of sculpture are of leaders, Mycerinus and Kha-merer-nebty II were the pharaoh and queen of Egypt around 2500 BCE., and Caesar Augustus was the Emperor of Rome from September 23, 63 BCE to August 19, 14 CE., shown in this work as a general from Primaport, Italy.
Before the modern era sculpture was monumental; it had an unspoken meaning. Sculptures of this time were commissioned to commemorate a person or an event. They were eternal, designed to last and make people remember a legacy. When the modern era arrived there came a shift, the concept of sculpture became broader. They were still permanent but no longer site specific or placed of a pedestal; they became nomadic. Flash forward to the postmodern era and sculpture is the space it inhabits, as the site changes so does the meaning. They convey the human experience and become something broader than just a monument as Krauss puts it the realm of sculpture has become “infinitely malleable ”.
From the front view, the sculpture seems like a growing tree. The color is dark brown and the whole body is mainly in the same tone. In this view point she is mainly in a straight line, the top seems larger than the base. We can see that although the sculpture is pretty thin but the weight is well balanced. The side lighting emphasises the detail and aesthetic qualities of the sculptures and strongly suggests that they should be viewed and compared with works such as 14th and 15th century Italian altar pieces or eastern Orthodox Triptych icons, regarded as stunning art and, therefore, exhibited in national art galleries, even though their original function was routine religious ceremony, as probably was that of the bronzes. This suggests that the best case for the retention of the British Benin sculptures is to accord them the unique status they deserve as exceptional artworks and exhibit them appropriately in a prestigious national art gallery, for everyone to appreciate fully. The votive statues were created by worshipers of the ancient Mesopotamian gods. They were crafted out of materials such as limestone, alabaster, gypsum, and other such materials (Votive Statues). These statues were created around 2900 to 2350 BCE at the Square Temple at Eshnunna. The creators of these statues created them in their own likeness to be held at the Square Temple, a place of worship to their gods. It was the worshipers belief that the gods would bless these statues and in turn, bless the creators (Department of Ancient Near Eastern Art, 2004). Worship of the gods was a huge part of the culture of Ancient Mesopotamia, as such these votive statues played a major role in that culture.
As I carry on my studies in Elementary Education, The field experience assignment has been a learning and growing experience for me. This semester I did five hours in a physical education class and during my experience I learned a lot. As I spoke to the Physical Education teacher Ms. Hines, she informed me that this school year was a tough year for her. From all her classes she had two classes were a couple of kids who had disabilities and the rest of the students were only Spanish speakers. The teacher only spoke English, which caused some difficulties describing her lesson of the day to her students.
This stone sculpture is a naked human-like figure standing six feet tall. The body is in chiasmos stance with the left leg slightly bent and the left foot slightly behind the right. The head is turned slightly downward and to the right, and its size is approximately 1/6 of the body. The hair is cropped closely to the head with no part. The body has a defined musculature, however the forearms appear to be missing. There is an object behind and to the right of the right leg that is about 2 feet tall and 10 inches wide.
The trip to the metropolitan museum was a great trip to learn and to study art. What is art you may ask, well art is an expression you use to show a visual picture. It can be through painting or through sculptures. Some other example of art is music, literature and dancing. For today 's paper we will be talking about art as a sculpture. The two sculptures in this photo are King Sahure and a Nome God and Marble Statue of Dionysos leaning on archaistic female figure (Hope Dionysos). You can find these statues in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. King Sahure and a Nome God is an Egyptian art that was made in 2458-2446 BCE. The artist is unknown. It was during the 5th dynasty and it also belong to the old kingdom. The Marble statue of Dionysos Leaning in the archaistic female figure is a Greco-Roman art. Belonging to the Roman imperial period of the late first century A.D. Augustan or Julio-Claudian period 27 B.C., to 68 AD. It is classified as a stone sculpture and it is made out of marble. The height of the statues is 82 ¾ inches. There is no evidence who was the original artist.
During my visit to the Pérez Art Museum Miami, I did more than just observing beautiful artworks. With the guidelines provided I could appreciate and study also the hidden meaning of some of the pieces I had in front of me. Some of them were easier than other ones, due to previous knowledge I had, but all of them made me examine them in a critic way that enriched my cultural heritage.
