Imagine you are sitting in your classroom doing the work that the teacher assigned, and all of the sudden there is noise coming from behind you. While you are listening to this buzzing noise, you get very distracted by this noise, and cannot do your work. You turn around and see that the noise is coming from a girl who is playing with a fidget spinner. Fidget Spinners should not be allowed in the classroom because they are distracting, dangerous, and misused. Fidget spinner, are very distracting to kids in a classroom. The spinners, when they are spun, they produce a loud noise. Therefore, when this noise is being made, it can cause other students around the spinner, to listen and watch the spinner spin, instead of doing their work. Furthermore, there are many different shapes, and colors of the spinners. Others during class may see someone have a fidget spinner with a cool shape, or color and ask them where they got it from. When they are talking about the spinner during class, their talking may distract those around them. …show more content…
A Third reason why fidget spinners are distracting, is that they cause kids to pay more attention to the spinner, then they will towards the teacher. During class, when a teacher is teaching their lesson, they start spinning the spinner, and are watching it spin, instead of listening, or watching the lesson. Fidget Spinners are also very dangerous.
When little kids were playing with the spinner, they have taken out the little circle pieces, and accidentally swallowed the piece. Kids have put the pieces in their mouths to clean them, but they ended up choking on it. They are taken to the hospital and have to get it endoscopically removed. Also, many kids have thrown the hard spinner at people when they got angry. These tiny spinners are actually very hard, and can hurt. Kids have got bruises, and cuts from them. Additionally, kids have spun the spinner too close to their eyes, and cause eye damage. The fidget spinners can spin very fast, and when put close to an eye, it can really damage it. The last reason why fidget spinners are dangerous, is because they can catch fire. Some types of fidget spinners have batteries built in them to make them light up, or spin faster, but if something get onto the battery, it could catch flames, and start a
fire. The last reasoning why fidget spinners should not be allowed in a classroom, is because they are misused. While the spinners are meant for people with ADHD, many kids use them just for entertainment. They are considered more like toys then tools to help others with the disease. These spinners are meant to be spun a hand just so the kids have something to play with in their hands, but many people do tricks with it. People have spun them on the nose, forehead, floor, and many other places that they are not meant for. Many people also stack up all their fidget spinners to see how high they can go. While fidget spinners are meant to calm down some kids, they are used as a toy by many people in the world, for whom they are not meant for. Many doctors and psychologists talk about how the fidget spinners help the people with ADHD focus. They tell everyone about how those kids need something to do with their hands while they are learning, so their hands will be occupied, which helps them to listen and better comprehend what the teacher is teaching. While these spinners do help many kids overcome their disease, they are used by many healthy people, who do not suffer from ADHD. Millions of kids, and adults, have these little tools around their house as a toy so they can play with them.
Students are becoming more distracted in class because of technology resulting them to do poorly in education. In the story, “New Class(room) War: Teacher Versus Technology” by Samuel Freedman is about a teacher name Ali Nazemi that created a policy regarding no technology because the students are not paying attention anymore in class. Freedman’s states that, “Their perpetual war of attrition with defiantly inattentive students has escalated from the quaint pursuits of pigtail-pulling, spitball-lobbing and notebook-doodling to a high-tech arsenal of laptops, cellphones, Blackberries and the like”
First,I believe Fidget spinners should be banned because they are distracting. They also make people around them think that they can just sit around and distract people doing their work. After a good bit of time the teacher will stop class and probably
In “Hooked on ‘Caramel-Colored Gold,” Melody Nelson claims “Despite the increased awareness of the benefits of good nutrition, we are a nation hooked on junk food, and many school administrators are taking advantage of the situation ” (par. 3). Nelson propose a ban on vending machines in schools because junk food is unhealthy for children, and they risk future health problems. I agree with Melody Nelson and believe that vending machines should be banned from school campuses, because they sell unhealthy food, they cause more money to schools for hiring extra custodians, and they are affecting children learning abilities.
Do you know why people bann fidget spinners in school or do you know why people don’t allow kids to own fidget spinners. I am against fidget spinners because many parents well ones that are wusses and some kids but i’m against them because kids get hurt but then once the kids get hurt they learn and won’t do it again but also it’s a distraction and also they can hurt somebody severely if used improperly and it’s a 50% chance to severely hurt somebody. If you don’t know what is a fidget spinner well a fidget spinners are a little handheld object about 2 inches long and they weigh about 2 pounds as well. The people who buy fidget spinners for themselves are probably around the ages of 5-18. The reason fidget spinners were made is that it was supposed to help kids with paying attention. The reason why parents or adults hate the fidget spinners is because the toy that is used for paying attention ends up becoming a distraction. The main thing that is going on with fidget spinners is that they are
Many kids have cell phones and laptops, etc. Kids are always on electronics and never thinking of giving them up or just taking a break but kids now could use the spinners other than being antisocial and never talking to anyone. According the article should fidget spinners be allowed at school (chicago tribune) the text states “They bring kids together, Nearly every student has one, because they are inexpensive”. Phones and laptops are nearly 300 dollars or more, it depends on the spinner you get but they are about 7 dollars or less. Many teachers say they don't want electronics at school, but no there saying spinners should not either but they are fairly
One reason fidget spinners shouldn’t be allowed in school is because the toys have become a major distraction. “ Although seemingly harmless, theses items are being taken out during class causing distraction to students and staff. ” From the article schools are banning fidget spinners, calling them nuisances and even dangerous by Valerie Strauss. In some schools are banning fidget spinners. They say that some kids can't concentrate on both the teacher and the fidget spinners. Some even say that the teachers are getting distracted. “ They say the toys have become a major distraction to teachers and students ad in some case, they are being banned from classrooms” proves that fidget spinners in class isn't such a good idea. The quote explains how teachers are getting distracted too by theses toys.
One way they are dangerous is the weights on the spinners can pop out and that creates a choking hazard for children. Another way they are dangerous is that the fidget spinners that light up and have batteries can set on fire while they are charging. The last way they are dangerous is if fidget spinner is spinning and it gets too close to the mouth of a child it could break their teeth and harm their mouth in other ways too.
Fidget spinners are helpful spinning fidgets offer benefits aside from mindless fun others call it fidget therapy and say the device is supposed to boost concentration, reduce anxiety and stimulate learning. Students with autism or those with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, know as ADHD can benefit from fidget therapy ADHD makes it hard for students to concentrate or sit still but using a fidget toy can help to concentrate or sit still . There is at least some evidence that foot tapping , squirming , hyperactivity and other times of energy such as fidget spinners. If you scroll though Amazon's seemingly endless list of fidget spinners , and youll see that the vast majority of these toys promise to relieve stress.
Scientific American explains that although fidget spinners provide an ulterior subject to focus on, it may be too much of a good thing. The same publication states, “By contrast, putty, stress balls and other therapeutic fidget items don’t have this visual attention problem. They can serve the same purpose as the spinners, but are more classroom-ready and less distracting” (Isbister). Fidget spinners are part of a noisy, disruptive fad that requires more concentration on fidgeting and less on occupying your hands in order to better focus on a lesson that is being taught. Time Magazine references several experts in saying that “silent, unimposing toys” are the most conducive to liberating excess energy and nervousness. Even fidgeting in a chair can help improve test scores according to a 2015 study that compared the test results of those who were required to sit still verses those who fidgeted (Healthday). While the flashy fidget spinner has no evidence to back itself up, experts agree that a purer, simpler fidget is the way to go for better
Buzzzzzzzzzz! Another cellphone is going off in the middle of class, causing her to blush and discreetly check her new text message. A virtual conversation is buzzing back and forth inside one classroom and into the classroom across the hall, having a discussion about the party that night or the lipstick color chosen at the mall. In another classroom, a student posts the answers to the English exams on her profile page, allowing all of her buddies to read and use for their time of the exam. There are multiple examples of students using their cell phones during class time to communicate their thoughts, images of their environment or dangerous crimes. In addition, the percentage of students with cellphones now soars to about 80% (Ban). This highly increases the chance for students to have a cell phones on them during school. Cell phones can also be harmful to students during class, taking them into another world of technology, separated from the classroom, and turning them down a road of decisions they never intended on doing. Overall, cell phones alter classroom learning in a negative way, and should be banned from use in the classroom at all schools.
Electronics are a huge part of our society. “Out of the world’s estimated 7 billion people, 6 billion have access to mobile phones” (Wang). Over thousands of these cell phones are owned by students K-12. A major debate topic is should cell phones be allowed in schools? “Twenty-four percent of schools have banned mobile devices altogether and sixty-two percent allow them on school grounds, but not in the classroom” (Raths). Cell phones should not be allowed in school because children focus more on the phone than schoolwork, it will create more drama, and it promotes cheating.
We all know technology is changing everyday. As laptops are becoming more popular in today 's society, especially in a college classroom setting, professors have noticed more and more students with their faces engaged on the computer screen and not the lecture. There have been recent studies that show in classroom use of laptops can affect students and their learning. Should the use of laptops be banned in the classroom?
Most of the toys are completely safe since they have been carefully designed by experts. As we have mentioned earlier also, they are not easy to break hence your child will not be exposed to any sharp edges or small pieces.
Technologies like computers or iPads (or anything with internet access for that matter) in the classroom could possibly distract students from their work. Classroom administrators seem to forget that the majority of students really don’t want to be in the classroom.. I remember when I was in highschool, whenever a teacher would bring students into a computer lab, or bring class sets of computers, or bring iPads into the classroom for a lesson a large portion would go onto twitter, or onto any unblocked flash game website whenever the teacher was not looking, try to access anything for them to “escape” the classroom. When there are a large majority of children and/or teens that do not want to go to school, and are given tools to be rebellious so easily, what is going to stop them? Aside, who really wants to sit through the same autonomous paper typing over and over again...
Many schools are now making new rules or guidelines to improve the educational impact that school has on students. One of these new rules or guidelines is a ban on cell phones during school hours. This new guideline upsets many students that use cell phones because they feel that it takes away their freedom. It is a privilege, not a right, that those students even have cell phones, and they are abusing their privilege tremendously. This new guideline is a superior guideline to follow, and in the long run, students will realize how this ban affected their learning experience. Cell phones should be ultimately banned for a number of reasons. Cell phones are a distraction to other students, it is a major distraction to the student with the cell phone, and there are phones in the school that students can use whenever they need.
