Fiction Response #1 In the book, “Across the Universe,” The main idea is to fight for what one believes is right. The main idea isn’t obvious in the beginning of the book, but as the plot continues, it becomes clear that the two main characters are fighting for what they know is right. The two main characters: Amy and Elder are both on the ship together. Amy is only on the ship because someone unplugged her while she was cryogenically frozen, and Elder is the next leader of the ship. Elder’s mentor, Eldest, is an antagonistic leader who rules the ship. The first sign of the main idea appears when Amy and Elder are trying to discover who is unplugging the cryo chambers to save the helpless people. The first main sign of developing the main
idea occurs when Elder says, “This is not the kind of leader I want to learn to be.” (loc 1253) He is referring to Eldest when he says this. This foreshadows that Elder is not going to rule the ship the same way as Eldest. Another key clue that eldest is antagonistic. When Amy compares Eldest to Hitler, Elder says, “ Eldest has always taught me that Hitler was a wise, cultured leader.” (loc 2165) When Elder discovers that Eldest has drugged all of the people on the ship, he knows he must fight for what is right. Therefore Elder and Amy go to destroy the pump distributing the drug. When Elder sees Eldest he tells him, “I will never ever be the leader you want me to be. And I will be better because of it.” (loc 4761) Then Eldest dies and Elder takes over the ship. Although this is a very short explanation, it is clear that Elder and Amy really fought for what they believed was right in order to make things right.
In most stories we enjoy, may it be from childhood or something more recent there is many times a theme that shows a clear hero and a clear villain. But ordinarily this is not the case in real life, there are few times that this is quite that simple. There are many sides to each story, and sometimes people turn a blind eye to, or ignore the opposing side’s argument. But if we look at both sides of a situation in the stories we can more clearly understand what is going on, moreover the villains in the book or play would seem more real, instead of a horrible person being evil for no reason, these two people have their own agenda may it be a ruthless vengeance or misplaced trust.
Man vs. Man is a conflict that can be seen throughout
For instance, THE ENTIRE FOUNDATION OF THE STORY – the feud between two families. Instead of choosing to harden up and resolve it, they decide to continue the war started by their own ancestors.
Some of the myths of cosmic conflict that John incorporates into his vision of the universal struggle between good and evil include Gnosticism views. This deals with the “myth about creation and the spirit realm” (Harris, 2014, p. 422). This myth actually became a well-organized group who believed that our physical world on earth was corrupt and created by a lesser god (Harris, 2014). These practices also believed humans were trapped in our bodies and the only way to be freed was to gain knowledge of the higher power (Harris, 2014).
There are two central characters to the story that relate to the central idea. These characters are the unna...
High school can be tough, but when people add traumatic events, life changing situations, and judgemental teenagers to the mix it can get worse. The world may seem like it’s ending, but it's important to remember that this is only a small portion of life. Not only like, but the world. The key to getting through high school is close and important friends. In the novel Holding Up The Universe by Jennifer Niven, the author tells the reader that trust is not given, but earned.
Understanding concepts of this story is important to do because it allows the reader to understand how the characters in the story are exactly feeling. The first main
Captain “Lucky Jack” Aubrey, the protagonist in Master and Commander: Far Side of the World, is an excellent example of a leader to both his crew and the audience of the film. Lucky Jack received the nickname because of his tendency to be in the right place at the right time, to win battles and, if necessary, narrowly escape disaster. The movie takes places during The Napoleonic Wars when Great Britain was at with France. Captain Aubrey is the captain of a British battleship, the HMS Surprise, when a much larger French warship, the Acheron, intercepts each other and pursue each other off of the coast of South America. Lucky Jack, as his crew refers him to, is well regarded by his men, who trust him implicitly, even after the first devastating battle and an apparent personal vendetta against the French captain.
At this point there seems to be one main character (setting the scene, and the past scene as this is important to the story) but she mentions others as well, which will be involved later on, the first chapter seems to represent the foundation to what is going to happen later on.
Part I: The Edge of Knowledge Chapter 1: Tied Up with Strings This is the introductory section, where the author, Brian Greene, examines the fundamentals of what is currently proven to be true by experimentation in the realm of modern physics. Green goes on to talk more about "The Basic Idea" of string theory. He describes how physicists are aspiring to reach the Theory of Everything, or T.O.E. Some suspect when string theory is completely understood that it might turn out to become the T.O.E.Part II: The Dilemma of Space, Time, and Quanta Chapter 2: Space, Time, and the Eye of the Beholder In the chapter, Greene describes how Albert Einstein solved the paradox about light. In the mid-1800's James Maxwell succeeded in showing that light was actually an electromagnetic wave.

Regarding content alone, I learned that the two main characters of the novel, Bluefish, have a strong bond though they had difficulties through their friendship.
The Novel has a consistent theme of whether or not the right thing will be done.It holds the story together since some characters “good” morals clash with the “ traditional “ morals of others. Almost as if a battle of light and dark or good vs evil takes place throughout the entire
of the universe being the real world. It carries on to say that all of
“All conflict in literature is, in its simplest form, a struggle between good and evil.” This is a quote by Anon and if analyzed is easily true. It is saying that literature has developed and is based off of the idea of the struggle between good and evil. The idea of a difference between good and evil can be found in anything, even events that occur in the real world happen because of this idea presented by Anon. Although this can be interpreted in many different ways it is still used as the base of all pieces of literature that have ever been written. Authors get to decide how they integrate this idea into their literature which is by how they interpret it, making every piece of literature unique.
