RECOMMENDATIONS
a) Guardians and the teacher should be motivated their girl students.
b) Govt. should build the awareness between the students both girls and boys to overcome this problem.
c) Govt. and political leaders should be taken some steps to reduce the social disparity.
d) Govt. and concern authority should be insuring the residential facility for the girls’ students.
e) Female stipend program should be increase.
f) Govt. should take to insure the security for the female student.
CONCLUSION
Through early marriage, eve-teasing, lack of security, residence problems, religion disparity poverty etc. reason for not progressing female education. I think if the guardians become aware of the barriers, female education problem would be removed. Also, by changing the mentality of the guardians we can promote the rate of female education. Women have been oppressed solely due to their sex. This is noticeable in the education system where females are treated differently than males. Although we have improved drastically in the last few years in recognizing that women deserve the same privileges as men do, there are still many obstacles to overcome. The expectations held by a society define the roles of its members. While many factors influence the parts individuals play in their cultures and communities, education has always been the crucial element in the establishment of social roles. Education was the catalyst which changed women's roles in society from what they were in the late 1800s to what they are now.
Nearly 300 young female students in Northern Nigeria were kidnapped by the terrorist group, Boko Haram, one month ago. The fear of progression and the threat to extremism causes a target on these girls. With an education these girls will be more powerful and filled with the knowledge to transform a society, something these extremist groups will continue to try desperately to stop, sparing no lives. It is a sad time when girls don’t go to school because they are afraid reading books will cause their deaths. The name of the group itself means, “Western Education is Sinful”. With the intent of back peddling any progression of women in a society powered by patriarchy, this militant group will shackle the young daughters who speak up or try to “claim an education” to forced marriages or into sex slavery. Thinking that if they just stop them from learning and keep them as submissive as possible they will never be able to live a free life and their society will remain controlled by males.
Education has been the hurdle keeping women from gaining equality in society, by separating them from their male counterparts. Women who sought higher education were considered, heathens and the most disgusting beings that would perish. Without education to empower them, women were stripped of their dignity and rights by their husbands and other men of the community. The struggle for women higher education is a battle that still has not reached its citadel.
In the year 1869, John Stuart Mill published a controversial essay, “The Subjection of Women”, that advocated equality between sexes in a male-dominant society. In this essay, I will demonstrate that Mill’s analysis regarding the systematic subjection of women, by an education system producing conventional “womanly” characters favorable to men, is correct. However, I will argue that this analysis does not apply to today due to the advancement of the political rights and powers, progression of social equality, and improved economic conditions of women in countries with high education indexes. The education index is referring to the statistics on literacy rate, gross enrollment ratios, and other factors compiled by the UN that determine which countries have exemplary education.
Gender equality in education is a right and every child; men and women have the right to access an education. UNICEF (2014) have committed to gender equality in education, furthermore supporting governments in the reduction of gender disparities through interventions at national, local and community levels aimed at empowering girls however, inequality still remains.
. Seventy percent of illiterate people throughout the world are females. That is a shockingly large amount of women that suffer the consequences of social stratification. Why are women given the role of the caretaker and not the scholar? Why are only ten percent of women in the world holding some type of legislative seat? Throughout history women have been brought up to be mothers and have been forced to practice staying home taking care of their children. According to history, women have only begun their battle with sexism.
