Farkle Nation is my country. Many of the residents there are having an argument on what our religion is. I decided that we should have the religion of Christianity because that is what I believe in. But I am only here to show that Christianity should be our country's religion. Christianity should be our religion because you should only believe in one god.
For the first reason why my country should have Christianity is for the Ten Commandments. One example is “Thou shalt not kill.”That can help with less murders in the country. “Thou shalt not steal.”That can help with less stealings in stores and peoples houses. The Ten Commandments can help our country to be safe and respectful. The Ten Commandments will be like the rules you follow
in the country. Another reason why I chose Christianity is because Christians believe in God. Christians believe that god made the world. The first saying in the Bible is Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the Earth. According to the article Christianity, “Jesus was tortured and gave his life on the cross.” Jesus hands and feet were nailed to the cross. Those are the beliefs my citizens should believe in as Christians. Finally, the last reason is how people believe in the bible. According to the Christianity Britannica “With some 2 billion followers, christianity is the world's most widespread religion.” According to Christianity article “Jesus died on the cross.” And Christians believe that Jesus died for our sins. In the bible there are the Ten Commandments and that's what Christians believe in. According to the Christianity article “The Bible -old and new testament.” Now that is why and how my citizens should believe in the bible. In conclusion, my citizens should believe in the ten commandments, christians beliefs, and in the bible. That's being a good christian. This will be our foundation for Farkle Nation.
The Ten Commandments are the first ten of the six hundred and thirteen commandments given by God to the Jewish people. The Ten Commandments built a foundation for Jewish ethics, behavior, and responsibility, which are still followed in numerous religions to this day. The Ten Commandments
In his or her life, a Christian tries to obey the 10 commandments. Throughout history, these rules have been proclaimed by Moses and Isaiah and Jeremiah, taught by Jesus, interpreted by the apostles, like Peter and Paul, and other teachers within the traditional Christian understandings of what is right and what is wrong. Document 1 lists the 10 commandments, but there is a couple that emphasizes what one should not do. “You shall not steal, You shall not give false evidence against your neighbor, You shall not covet.” A follower of this religion would look up to these listings and obey them whenever in doubt or have difficulty making a tough decision. God also quotes in Document 9, “Blessed are the merciful; for they shall obtain mercy.” This explains how if you show mercy towards Him, you will get mercy back. In other words, it is related to the ‘Golden Rule’ which is to treat others the way you wish to be
I vividly remember sitting in my ninth grade world history class, only six short years ago, when my teacher announced that next week we would begin a four week study on world religions. A nervous murmur swept through thirty students, all thinking the
Religion in Afro-Eurasia from 1300-1500CE faced challenges as people focused on humans rather than God during the humanist movement. Scientists, philosophers, mathematicians and artists narrowed their efforts to finding problems, solutions, inventions and inspiration from humans and science rather than God and religion. This took power and support from religious leaders that had previously been using the feudal system to their advantage by treading on peasants as a means of success. During 1300-1500CE Western Christendom suffered plague and famine. In 1315, Europe faced a seven yearlong famine which killed millions. Subsequent to the famine was the Black Death lasting from 1347-1351. In just a matter for four years, the plague in Europe was responsible for the death of 25 to 50 percent of Europe’s population (428). Those still alive after these grueling conditions were unlikely to
1.) Intro: I decided to focus my Religious Ethnography on a friend whom I recently have become close with. Adhita Sahai is my friend’s name, which she later told me her first name meant “scholar.” I choose to observe and interview Adhita, after she invited me to her home after hearing about my assignment. I was very humbled that she was open to this, because not only was it a great opportunity for this paper, but it also helped me get to know Adhita better. I took a rather general approach to the religious questions that I proposed to the Sahai family because I didn’t want to push to deep, I could tell Hinduism is extremely important to this family. Because this family does not attend a religious site where they worship, I instead listened to how they do this at home as a family instead.
The separation of church and state is an important concept that helps our country to continue to prosper. The people that first came over to this country left their own generally beca...
When a person becomes an American citizen they are required to take a test. They are required to know certain laws and U.S. customs. They must also say the pledge. This includes having to state the United States in under, not just any god, but god of the Christian faith.
Since the beginning of time religion has been a key factor in the establishment and maintaining of civilizations. Popular religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity have played a major role in society. ??? Each religion has a different form of ??? In this paper i will be discussing the differences in how they view death and applying it to how it affects their cultural beliefs. In order to fully discuss these dissimilarities we must first look at a brief background of each major religion.
Its values and moral code are ingrained in our constitution, and we can see symbols of God, and Christianity throughout our infrastructure, and economic denominations. While it is understood that we are a country of diversity and variance, the belief that The Decalogue should not be posted or engraved on courthouses, schools, or other “public” domains because it was taken from the Bible is a foolhardy step down a road this country may not recover from. While diversity and freedom are the building blocks of this country, allowing political correctness and the fear of giving offense to supersede what is right, and what is good, is a sure way to optimize failure for all. Our civilization was not built on the morals and values of the Middle East, or communist China, for a reason. If we continue to allow the current minority, as loud as they yell, to make decisions that will ultimately affect us all, we are going to go the way of Rome, and other great countries who faded away, or crashed and burned, due to moral suicide. The Israelites were told to rid themselves of all evil, and they didn’t listen. They intermarried and propagated their population with the very people God commanded them to slay. This did not end well for them, on multiple occasions. Knowing what God wants from our nation is harder than knowing what God is asking us as individuals. However, the belief that we as a society need to remove any trace of God from view so
Religion ties American’s of different races and cultures together in various ways. It provides unity and hope among a very diverse group of people. In today’s American society religion provides deep connection to American’s through socialization and social control.
"Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." [Matthew 22:37-40, AV]
I begin by describing the Hickean account of religious pluralism. Essentially Hick aims to explain religious plurality through the shared salvific experiences and values of the Real. I then give Hick’s conception of what the Real is and how it relates to major religions. Hickean religious pluralism faces what I consider to be fatal criticisms with regards to the nature of the Real, the result is that either the Real is contradictory or fails in its explanatory value. I, therefore, conclude that Hickean religious pluralism is not a plausible philosophical position.
Culture is a way of life that allows a diverse group of people to interrelate with one another. It is usually passed down from one generation to the next by communication and imitation. The term itself has a set definition, but it normally relates to the behavior, beliefs, values, and symbols that are accepted by a group of people. Culture can also be used to describe the time period and events in history. In the sense of what was deemed as popular during a specific stage in time and its impact on the culture surrounding it. Micro-historian have been dissecting and interpreting the meaning of popular culture and the courses of action that lead up to the events.
...l and perceptive way for rulers to unite empires and spread their society to other regions. The religion of Christianity, in itself, holds a number of assimilations with local pagan rituals that allowed for a much smoother transition. People tended to take the religion of the successful or more advanced civilizations because of logical areas as promoting trade and unifying their own neighbors, turning enemies into allies or possibly vassals. A further dissection of Christianity reveals that the ideas and precepts of this organization have striking similarities to that of other religions of the time. Although it should be noted that there is obviously no definitive answer on religion and it is the choice of the individual to follow their beliefs to their hearts content, but a bit of abstract observation and scrutiny is hardly a crime, at least in modern society.
Secularization is a controversial form of social change in modern day society. Secularization is a concept derived from a Latin word meaning “the present age,” the term is generally associated with modern, technologically, and advanced societies. “Secularism is a political tradition that has been evolving for eighteenth centuries. It shares important relationships with other traditions, sustaining complex ties with Judeo-Christianity, and maintaining a long-standing relationship with Islam” ( Hurd, 2004). The term secular has taken on many different meaning through history. The earliest references can be traced to the 13th century, when the notion of the saeculum arose in reference to a binary opposition within Christianity. Priests who withdrew from the world (saeculum) formed the religious clergy, while those living in the world formed the secular clergy (Casanova, 1994). The notion of the ‘secular’ has taken on a range of different meanings over the past eighteen centuries. In today society, the world secular is used to describe a world thought to be in motion, the moving away from religious influence in everyday life.
