Christian Worldview
What is a worldview? A worldview, according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is, “a comprehensive conception or apprehension of the world especially from a specific standpoint” (2017). A worldview is what directs us to do certain things and/or make certain choices. I believe it is important to know what your worldview is, so you can have a better understanding of life and can help those around you to better understand theirs. I developed my Christian worldview by studying the Bible. Being a Christian, I look at that world in a different manner than one who is not a Christian. I have gained an understanding of values, morals, and an overall purpose

of why I was created. Most importantly, I found truth in everything that I studied.

The Question of Origin
When developing a Christian worldview, the first thing one might ask is, “How did life begin?” This question is one of the most difficult topics to understand because we believe in a higher power.

That higher power being, God. Genesis 1:1 (English Standard Version), states that God made heaven and earth. Throughout the remainder of Genesis chapter one, it explains how God made the world and everything in it. He did so in six days and he then rested on the seventh. On the sixth day, God decided to create man. He did this by gathering dust from the ground and breathing the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and he made man a living creature. (Gen. 2:7) God later made Adam a companion. He made her from one of Adams ribs, and her name was Eve. (Gen. 2:21-22) This is just part of God’s creation, and how he made life and

mankind.

The Question of Identity
So, God created life and humans. The question we will ask ourselves now is, “What does it mean to be human?” God created man in His image, and I believe that is what separates us humans from the rest of creation. We are the only part of creation that can establish an actual relationship with God. Humans are also more important than any of God’s other creations. In Genesis 1:28, God said to have dominion over the fish and the birds and every living thing on earth. God allowed man to represent Him by ruling creation. Jesus explained to the disciples to not be afraid. He told them that God does not even forget sparrows, and then he said that their lives were of more value than the sparrows. (Luke 2:6-7) This is evidence that God made humans superior to the rest of creation.

The Question of Meaning/Purpose
With that being said, why does mankind have to exist?

Is it to, “Love the Lord your God with all of your heart and all of your soul and all of your strength.” (Luke 10:27) Greg Brezina said, “To say that God created humanity to love Him is to insinuate that God has an unmet love need.” Knowing God, we know that He has no need that is unmet. So, this can’t be our reason for being created. Brezina, later goes on to say, “God commands us to love, serve, obey and glorify God for our benefit. The only way we can experience health and wholeness is by spontaneously loving, serving, obeying, and glorifying Him.” I feel this quote shows us more about God. The Bible states many times that God is love. God wanted to share his love with humanity. In 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, apostle Paul tells us what exactly love is. God being love, He is also all of the things that Paul said. God created us to share His unfailing love, and even though He has been rejected by many of us, He showed us love again my giving us Jesus.

The Question of Morality
When I think of morals, I think of what is right and wrong. E. W. Younkins says, “Much of morality in business falls under the rubric of honesty.” (Younkins, 2012, p.242) I feel like we can use this with a Christian worldview. A rubric is what holds us to a certain standard. We need to hold ourselves to God’s standards. 1 John 2:16 says that we need to focus on God and not the desires of our flesh because those desires do not come from God. We need

to live our lives as God intended by worshipping Him, serving Him, and sharing His love with everyone. (Luke 4:8)

The Question of Destiny
Now that we know where life began and what our purpose is we have one final question to answer. What happens when we die? Having a Christian worldview, I believe that there is life after death. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins, and believing in him and repenting will give me eternal life with God. (John 3:16) It is always heartbreaking to know that those who do not believe in the Lord will perish. (John 8:24)

Biblical Worldview Influence
I believe that having a biblical worldview will completely change your life for the better and influence how you perceive the world. God tells us to love our neighbors and everyone. This has changed my thoughts on judgement. I am very slow to judge others because it is not my place. It is only my job to love them unconditionally. Also, since establishing a biblical worldview, I decided on a career to pursue that with glorify the Lord. I want to be social worker so I can help those in need and be a light and be the love that they need.
