Familicide also known as the killing of a family by of the spouses not everyone in the family has to die just at least one spouse and sometimes a child. Intimate partner homicides can sometimes result into familicide or suicide-homicide. There is really no way to tell if someone will become a victim of familicide, or what type of person will commit this act. If there is violence in the family and stress, there is a chance for familicide to occur. Children are at a high risk for murder if there is an intimate partner homicide. Sometimes the soups feels that no one is worthy to live in the family, or the perpetrator feels that there is no one to take care of the child one the patents are gone. Children are normally not the main target for a familicide. …show more content…
Research has shown that men are more likely to commit familicide, and that if the male is in his 30’s to 40’s, the head of the house hold there, and if there are problems at home there is a possibility that this person will commit familicide (Davies, 2008, p. 127; Liem, Levin, Holland, & Fox, 2013; Mailloux, 2014). This does not mean that women or younger/ older males do not commit familicide, males that fit that description though are more likely to commit familicide. If the male has a criminal record or needs to be in control there is a higher chance that person might commit familicide as opposed to someone who has never been a convicted of a violent crime. In some cases of familicide the perpetrator has a criminal record, “…a larger than expected number of family killers who had a criminal record or a history of family violence” (Liem et al., 2013). Not everyone who commits familicide has had a criminal record or a history of family violence, but there are some who have a record. Homicides are more commonly committed by someone who has a record or a history of violence. Sometimes when the perpetrator commits familicide the person what happened and commit suicide, and other times suicide was the ultimate goal. Suicide is more common though when the perpetrator realizes what happened, “we also found that offender suicide was more frequent when the victim was killed” (Eke, Hilton, Harris, …show more content…
There are many different reasons for why someone might want to commit familicide, but there is no way to tell for certain why someone would commit this act. Familicide is commonly linked with intimate partner homicide “most intimate partner homicides involve a single perpetrator and a single victim; however, a small number of individuals who kill their partners also kill one or more of their children and/or themselves in cases of familicide and/or homicide-suicide” (Davies, 2008, p. 126). Familicide happens when everyone in the family dies and the perpetrator commits suicide. The perpetrator is also a member of the family. Familicide is not very common, but there are people who feel like there is no other solution to the problems at hand. One reason for why someone might commit familicide is financial problems (Liem, Levin, Holland, & Fox, 2013). If the perpetrator feels like there is no money coming in to support the family there will pressure on this person to find more money. Sometimes the person cannot handle the pressure. Familicide can also occur “…after a drastic and sudden change or loss that negatively and significantly impacts the ability of the family to sustain their current quality of living. Such impacts and the loss of control may leave the main family provider feeling panicked and desperate” (Mailloux, 2014). If the family was doing well in society standers, and then the income stops this

A requirement in being an early childhood teacher, is to fulfill the needs, of the children and families I will work for. In chapter one, you have the Lawrence and Ashley Family. In the Lawrence family, they are a married couple, which means more income for the family. Whereas the Ashley family has one income. In addition, to the Ashley family, having one income and dealing with the state can bring heartache and struggles to buy food, clothes, housing, school supplies and other day to day activities. Therefore, I need to comprehend the lives of the families I work for and to be aware of the circumstances of the individual families. To the same degree. I need to respect the boundaries; of the families I work for. Trust is a must. With no trust, there is no communication and things get can get
The second family that I interviewed was the Lyles family. Both Bro. Scotty, the father, and Mrs. Yolanda, the mother, participated in the interview and three of their children were in the room. Bro. Scotty was born and raised in Alba, Texas on the very same tree farm that he owns and operates today; he is also a deacon at our church. However, Mrs. Yolanda was born and raised in Guatemala. As a child she was raised Catholic, and is part of a large and growing family. She is one of eight children. Their family as well as anybody else in that culture celebrated their daughter’s 15th birthday with a Quinceañera which marked the transition from childhood to young womanhood. This was traditionally the first time the girls would wear make-up, nice
Men are more likely to carry out a suicide and women are more likely to attempt
As the rate of suicides increases in our nation, it has risen consistently with white males leading the way, as shown in figures 1 and 2. There are many theories behind what is driving this, however there are no hard facts behind any of these theories and there is still no concrete reason why white males are more prone to commit suicide.
The family is in the pre-contemplation stage. The family has not consider its issues as problems and the family members are looking at other individuals as the problem.

The phrase “family of origin” is usually used to define the family that one was raised in or with. Family is often viewed as a social institution, responsible for the socialization and care of its members. The institution of family has a strong influence on individual biopsychosocial well being
It seems that hegemonic masculinity does a great deal in explaining male-perpetrated familicide, but it fails to explain female perpetrators. There is a great lack of gender symmetrical explanations of interpersonal violence. However, as the 21st century continues, and there is a continued strive for gender equality, there is good chance that there will be an increasing amount of gender based research on violence.
African legacy, history of slavery and discrimination, and the victim system are key factors that have shaped and molded American Americans.
In this paper, I will be discussing my family health history as illustrated in the disease family tree. What is family health history? Family health history refers to a collection of information about diseases that run in your family, as well as the eating habits, activities, and environments that your family shares. The knowledge about diseases in your family can help you make healthy choices. One’s family history can affect one’s health in different ways since we inherit many things from our parents and grandparents; genes passed on to you from your parents can determine your health. Some genes can increase one’s chances of developing certain diseases but it can also depend on the type of environment, life style or behavior, geographical
The first concept that I am going to talk about is Social Epidemiology and how that applies to my family members. “The study of how health and disease are distributed throughout a society’s population” (Macionis, 2017, pg 433). This means sociologists study how we take care of ourselves and sick from diseases. How this relates to my social group is that we all got sick and some of my family members get sick and pass on the sick to the rest of the family. But they also get sick from kids at their schools and my mom get sick from people at her work passing around the flu or cold.
“Families come in all shapes and sizes. Regardless of the configuration, the one universal descriptor is that families are diverse in nature” (Mark Hanson 43). While many people assume that western Americanized families lack a culture, my family’s characteristics, beliefs, heritage and values still differentiate amongst other cultures and add to our diverse community and world. My immediate family consists of four persons – my mother, Geraldine, who is fifty-eight, my father James, who is sixty-one, my older brother Patrick who is twenty-three, and I being twenty. My brother and myself are third generation American-Citizens. We live in the same exact house in Somerville, Ma that my great-grandparent’s, on my mother 's side, built when arriving
The Families Comes First: An Initiative to Create Healthy Families and Homes will be created to help reach the Divisions goal of helping families reach their full human potential. For simplicity, Families Come First is hereinafter known as FCF. Children and families deserve to live in safe and clean homes. They also deserve to have the resources to take care of themselves and children. The FCF initiative will provide families with a family support worker, known hereinafter as FSW. FCF will also provide a care package to each family that contains essential home care and hygiene items so that they can reach their full human potential.
Family is the most important thing in the world a single word, with many different meaning. As the backbone of society family plays an important role in who an individual can be. The family can determine the class of an individual, the education level, and their religion. There are different types of families that have existed and some that are still present today. In the past the nuclear family was the ideal model. The nuclear family also called domesticity is characterized as, women being responsible for keeping the home and children and men being the breadwinner. It is two adults living together in a household with their own or adopted children. Another type of family is the extended family. The extended family is defined as a family group consisting of more than two generation of relatives living either within the same household or very close to one another. Grandparents, aunts, and in-laws are examples of extended families.
