A requirement in being an early childhood teacher, is to fulfill the needs, of the children and families I will work for. In chapter one, you have the Lawrence and Ashley Family. In the Lawrence family, they are a married couple, which means more income for the family. Whereas the Ashley family has one income. In addition, to the Ashley family, having one income and dealing with the state can bring heartache and struggles to buy food, clothes, housing, school supplies and other day to day activities. I wanted to introduce all of the elements, to bring in and establish in a new place or environment. 1. With technology so popular, we have the ability to have parent meeting over Skype or face time. Of course, a time schedule will be in place for the meeting. 2. Furthermore; this that can be helpful for families, is to have my own webpage of all the actives that we are doing. Additional; with parent’s consent pictures and videos will be loaded so parents can see what their kids are doing in class. Having a webpage can bring ease to all the parents, and it’s an easy look up from their computer or phone. So as, I need to make sure I am here to help the families out as much as possible and make the transformation easy for everyone. like to see happy children playing and laughing. 3. It’s necessary to listen more, to promote the social, emotional, moral, cognitive, language and physical development of each child. 4. I have the ability, to create a nurturing and responsive environment. 5. To be compelled to in order to fulfill some need or achieve, I must not judge a family. This is not my job; my job is to make sure their child is being cared for. We may have our questions, but as a teacher, I need to ask and make sure everything is okay. We all come from different backgrounds. Some may live with grandparents, Aunts, uncles, older brother or sister and even the same sex parent. We need to understand we are all equal. In my class, I will be giving hope in the classroom. 6. Therefore, learning kindness and respect of others. Having the rules set, will show the children reasonability. That there will be no tolerance for bad behavior. Showing a positive vibe in the room and outside of class, shows that we need to care about everyone’s feelings. 7. A desire to make thing easy for the parents, so they can be involved with their children. It is very helpful when the parents or guardians, take time out of their busy schedule to learn and see what they are learning in school. Because, parents need to be involved in what they are learning. This brings growth and comfort.
The Andrews family consists of an African American father and mother that are in their early 50s and two teenage children. This paper will focus on primary heart health for Mrs. Andrews. Mrs. Andrews has a significant risk for developing heart disease, MI, and stroke. Mrs. Andrews non-modifiable risk factors include being an African American female in her 50s. Her modifiable risk factors include stress, hypertension, being overweight, and not seeing a primary care practitioner for two years. She quit smoking three years ago which is a modifiable risk factor that she has changed prior to this visit, the goal is not to sustain the change long term. According to the American Cancer Society the risk of developing coronary heart disease (CAD) is significantly reduced after quitting for year ("when smokers quit," 2014).
The first section of the Code specifically addresses our responsibilities to young children. Its twelve ideals emphasize the importance of basing program practices on knowledge of child development and remind early childhood educators that they are responsible for creating programs that meet the developmental needs of all children in ways that respect their culture, language, ethnicity and family structure. The twelve principles in this section of the Code describe practices that are required, permitted, or prohibited as we work with young children. It is this section of the Code that I find the most challenging.
Beginning in 1992, a man named Bill Moyers has followed the lives of two American families in the film, “Two American Families.” Produced as a documentary, the film covers an 11 year period. The two families shown in the film are the Neumann family and the Stanley family. Both families have multiple children and struggle economically. The main difference between the two is that the Stanleys are African American and the Neumans are white. This leads to the question of whether race was a cause of all their struggles.
In the essay “The Incredible Shrinking Family”, the author Robert B. Reich shows that because of today’s living economic conditions, families now are getting smaller and also they don’t spend enough time together. The author believes that the tradition family -a father and a mother who are happily married and spend enough time with their children- may be no longer existed. The author reports that Family members are seeing a lot less of each other. Children are left in day care, because fathers are not the only ones who work, many women work too according to the writer. Reich points out that parents are consumed by their work, and even when they are together they look preoccupied by work. Therefore -Reich says- families eat together a lot less
The Conceptual Framework created for the SUNY Cortland teacher candidates is important for many reasons. It was important for the campus to create a “College-wide shared vision for teacher education” (CF 3) as they prepared for their NCATE accreditation. The college wanted to make sure that the framework formed a true representation of their program goals, identity, and beliefs. This conceptual framework is important for the individual candidate because it is used to guide, and provide “a sound foundation for assessment”(CF 7). As stated on page 11 of the framework, “SUNY Cortland is dedicated to developing candidates’ knowledge, integrity, professional standards and commitment to their future students and school community”. This is very important as every piece of the statement can go hand-in-hand with the NAEYC Standards. The Conceptual Framework is also important for candidates as it sets to build three key components in each individual. These components are personal responsibility, social justice, and global understanding. What is also unique about the Conceptual Framework is that it is seen as a “living document”, meaning that it has the ability to be changed whenever change is needed, and whenever we uncover new discoveries of early childhood development. My intention in writing this paper is to gain a better understanding of what is expected from me as a candidate in a SUNY Cortland education program. I hope that I will be able to take the information that I learn from the Conceptual Framework and use it in my future teaching.
You respect the child and family. When confronted with confidential matters, you seek to find a space where others are not able to hear your conversation. The families in your class speak highly of your commitment to their children, numerous families have requested you for the teacher of their child next year. A significant facet of an early childhood professional is the ability to work with families. This however can be an area in which many professionals entering into the field can feel inadequate. In order to fully support all areas of a child’s performance as a professional it is critical to work with their families. In order to effectively work with families, you must be able to understand the diversity and complexity of families.
Dr. Seuss wrote, “You’re off to great places. Today is your day. Your mountain is waiting. So get on your Way”. The role of the early childhood educator, while rewarding, can sometimes feel as is you are climbing a mountain. Educators have to consider how to implement curriculum, instruction, management, and technology in the classroom. Educators also have to provide an environment where all children feel safe and nurtured. When creating a course of action, educators have to consider their role as well as the role of the student, parent, and community.
In this paragraph I am going to characterize the Ewell family. First off, their family life is bad because they have a mean father and they do not have a mother. Their father does not work and can not hold down a job to save his life. When he does get money he spends it on whiskey, and does not care for the children. Imagine life without your mom, the woman that cares for you, cooks for you, and listens to you when you need a friend. The Ewell children do not have that important piece in their life, the piece that helps them grow and become profound people. They have to figure it out on their own, and that is a tough task because while they are trying to do that they are also trying to be children. In addition to that, their father does not make them go to school, so they only go to school
As a teacher in early childhood development, I believe that the teacher skills and personality influence how children understand, observe and react to the classroom environment and the world around them. Even though part of teacher responsibilities are academic, daily interactions that encourage social, emotional and physical development are important. One of a quality effective early childhood educators’ characteristic is that they should have patience.
What separates a good teacher from a great Teacher? “First and foremost a teacher must love working with children. No matter how well you teach, there is always room for Improvement ” (Killen,2009.p.100) .In this Essay I hope to show some of the key attributes, that I consider essential to becoming an effective early childhood teacher. Those key aspects are communication, building lasting relationships, engaging students effectively in the learning process, and encouraging and appreciating diversity in the classroom.
As an early childhood educator my job is not to simple play with children. I must plan, provide and supervise all while “playing” with my students. The classroom serves as the physical environment for the children for most of their waking hours. These classrooms need to be attractive and function effectively. Concerns for any early childhood educator should always include space, equipment and materials used, outdoor space and the daily schedule to ensure that all students are provided ample opportunities to learn and grow within a safe and secure environment.
The following family life education Program will emphasize on Parent Education and Guidance. Early childhood education plays a key role in a child’s academic development because he or she learns soft skills, job skills, and develop positive traits. Preschool is not like kindergarten, but instead a stepping-stone that prepares young students for the years of schooling they will have later in life. As more schools began to open families wanted to be able to verify that programs would benefit and protect their children. In response, the National Association for the Education of Young Children was made to help families find the best care for their children, by providing the early childhood educators with training and ensuring the quality of children’s daily experiences.
