I recently read a book called Monster by Walter Dean Myers, in which a sixteen year-old boy named Steve Harmon was arrested for being accused of shooting a drugstore owner, and watched a documentary titled Murder on a Sunday Morning about a fifteen year-old Brenton Butler being charged with murdering a woman at a motel. I found that the book and the documentary had many similarities and differences. I thought this because both cases are about a young African-American boy who is in custody for something that they did not do. Both police investigations didn't go thoroughly and just rushed through to arrest the boys immediately and are centered around a white defense attorney who tries to convince the jury that the male teen did not committed the crime by giving out evidence.
Tarshis communicates this as a terrifying storm. She supports this idea on page 7 where it states a giant boiling thunderstorm cloud was headed their way. Quickly the kids and grandma had went in the house and had huddled together. The storm was so thick that not even car lights could be seen.

Monster’s setting is critical to the story because on multiple occasions Steve Harmon blames his poverty stricken neighborhood he grew up in for the mistakes he made. The tone of the story makes the audience stay in constant suspicion to see if Harmon will be able to prove that he’s innocent. Myer’s theme for the story is that you should not give into peer pressure because it can make you end up in serious trouble.

Tommy, the 12 year old, told them about the movies and comics that he has read. The narrator is an observer that is describing what happens while everyone goes mad trying to find a scapegoat. Steve is the only person who tries to reason with everyone while they are getting suspicious and trying to blame a scapegoat. This teleplay shows some of the human flaws that the people on maple street will encounter during their little power outage.

Yes we can all agree that clowns are scary, but there has to come a time where the ones coming up with these “horror nights” step back and realize that what they are doing is no longer working anymore. But alas there is someone out there who knows what they’re doing, and it quite possibly could have to do with the fact that they are connected to the movie studio that did invent the horror film genre. But what makes Universal Studios Halloween Horror night so sinister? Universal Studios has a way where they take you out of reality and place you in a horror movie where you encounter many horror mazes, and also by the way they attack your senses in unexpected ways.

The articles consider the relation between monstrosity and the terms against which it is defined.
