Ever since I was little, I have always been raised in the church. My mom would take my brother and I every Sunday, Sunday evening, and Wednesday evening. Going to church, three days a week for seventeen years, has really impacted my life, it makes me feel better about myself. For example, if I am ever going though a rough time, church reminds me to stay strong and that God is always there for me, no matter what. It also makes me feel happy to be alive and be glad to have the life that I live because a lot of people are not as fortunate as I. Since I have been in church, I have contributed a lot of my time helping out. I have made plenty of boxes for members, at my church, to put donations in for the charity work we do. I have helped maintain
the cleanliness of the church, and visit different senior citizens homes to sing Christmas carols. What I have learned from growing up in the church is that I should love everyone, even my enemies. The reason I do this is because this is the way God wants me to be and I should not want to have revenge on anyone. Having revenge is what increases the anger that people have towards others. I want to become a nurse to help people. I can do this by making them feel better, and help them with any of the problems they have whether they have a serious disease or just need help walking again. Nursing requires empathy, flexibility, and interpersonal skills. I am able to listen to people, I can feel their pain, and I am willing to do what I can to help them recover.
I serve to Jesus every day by taking time out my day to help others. When my classmates or friends are struggling with something I try to assist them
My great-grandfather poured his heart, soul and money into that church that has a congregation of about twenty, just because he wanted to give the people of the Petway Community a place to worship. I believe that he is so willing to give to others because he had to do a lot for his entire life. Many years ago, a random lady came knocking on my great-grandparent’s door to simply ask about my great-grandfather’s health, because he was sick, and to tell my great-grandfather how grateful she was that he paid to get the heat turned back on in her house, how he sent firewood to heat her house, and how he had presents delivered to her children on Christmas Day.
My church community has a huge influence and is similar to a family community. I try to go to church every Sunday and participate in the service. People are spoken to with respect and there is caring atmosphere. In church we have different prayers and sermons. Topics we discuss in church are about the bible and how to live a better Christian life. Being part of the same faith give us many topics to converse about. In church we talk face-to-face and I have a good relationship with the people
All of us have encountered someone in our lifetime – a family member, a co-worker, a neighbor, or an acquaintance – who asked us WHY? Why do we pour all of our talents, all of our gifts, and all of our service into church?
I learned about the importance of giving back at the age of 11yr old and putting the very important needs of others in front of my own. Volunteering in a homeless shelter at a young age opened my eyes. Where I was placed to give food, clothes, money & hygiene products to people in need. Where would I be right now without the help of God, my mother, family& friends and the church community”. Giving a helping hand to the people in the community is Something we should always do. In the ("bible Acts 20:35 says in everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the lord Jesus himself said: it is more blessed to give than to receive"). Having a compassionate heart for the community blesses the congregation.
As I headed out for my adventure I drove to a church in Capitol Hill. This church’s name is Mount Zion Baptist Church. This church is different then the one I usually attend because it is Baptist. Many African Americans choose this church to worship at. I usually attend a church that is non-denominational. The church I regularly go to has ties with a sister church in Hawaii so the church here is strongly influenced by Hawaiian culture. This means that there are a lot of people who are Hawaiian or of Asian descent. So being in a church with people of African American descent was a bit different for me.
Growing up in a church community and Christian family affects my spiritual wellness greatly. It helps with my beliefs and what I think is important in life. My spiritual wellness is pretty good as I keep going to church and making my spiritual wellness better and stronger. Everything that I have learned from God’s word helps me in my everyday walk with God and my spiritual wellness.
The church has been around for many years. Throughout those years people have gone to the church to worship the Lord, to just spend time with God, to go to confession, to witness baptisms and marriages. For me, I’ve gone to church to worship and I’ve gone to confession a few times. I even witnessed a baptism and a marriage. People go to church for many reasons. In today’s modern society, the church has many roles.
Ever since I was little, belief in God has been drilled into my head. I was taught to never question God’s existence, to always be faithful. However, recently, as I have been becoming a more curious adolescent, I wonder about religion. I wonder why people put their blind trust into a being that no human has ever seen. I think religion is very important, but there is no actual proof of this higher being, God, to exist except for the Holy texts (the Bible, the Quran, the Torah, etc.)
First of all, church has greatly influenced many different aspects of my life and caused me to be the person I am today. I have always been taught to treat others with respect and to treat them how I would want to be treated. This has caused me to try to be considerate of others' feelings and thoughts as much as I can. I also respect other people's property and take care of it just as I would my own. I have also been taught at church to respect those in authority including my parents, teachers, and elders. I also have participated in church activities such as choir and video production. This has helped me to improve my social skills by interacting with other people. These things have influenced me and made me the person I am today.

Even more, God has called everyone to do service. When he was here on earth, Jesus was always looking out for the good of others, teaching or healing them without getting paid. If someone call themselves Christians, God expects service from them, God expects us to go and make the changes in people’s lives. Service is showing that you care about the others around you. There are so many blessings that come with doing service, the lives of so many people get touched just by a simple act of kindness. The things I taught these kids that day might be taught by them to others they know and the many people I was able to touch just by simple words, I might never know but being able to do service is a gift from God, being able to go on Agape day revived my spirit and it reminded me how much God values me and his
The church is a place in which many come to find a sense of belonging, comfort, and purpose. It's through these three qualities which have drawn and maintained many church goers throughout the years.
My religion affects the way I live in several ways. First, because of my religion, I care about everyone. Secondly, I do not believe in abortion, which is killing live human beings inside a woman’s stomach because I am Catholic. Third of all, because I am catholic, I believe in God and Jesus and that they are the only people that can perform miracles.
What am I willing to die for or give my life to kept going on in my head. Finally it came to me and that is my faith. I have been going to church since I was a baby with my family. I have many strong beliefs and a strong stance. I have been taught many different things from the Bible and I have read things on my own. I do not do what I do because my pastor said to, but because I believe that it is the right thing to do. I have been questioned and my Christianity background has been too. All over the world, Christianity has been attacked. For example, one class that I took was world religions and the whole time the professor influenced the class to bash the Christianity beliefs and praise the other ones. I did not do so well because I did not back down on what I believe in.
